What can be found in a name:
Tiana Beatriz Magdalena
When the day I was born:
July 21st, 1959
The Angels screamed:
Bella Magdalena and Elija Magdalena
And Hell shut its doors:
Only Child
While creatures retreated:
An Egyption Mau by the name of Cecilia.
To depths unknown:
Half-Blood
I hide from them:
- Her bedroom, primarily. It's nice to be able to get away from the relentless teasing every once in a while.
- The Lawns
- The Library
- The Hospital Wing (She always wanted to be a doctor)
Be who they want to see:
Tiana has the typical Spanish build. While she's thin, she happens to be very curvy. Her bust and her hips are cause for constant self consciousness. However, she does love her legs, but it's not as though she can show those off on a day to day basis.
Tiana's hair is naturally a dark red, and curly. When she first started coming to Hogwarts she began straightening her hair and dying it a dark brown. Now that she has been at Hogwarts for so long, and is still getting teased, she doesn't bother except on rare occasions.
Despite the fact that Tiana is incredibly self conscious, she is aware that she is very attractive. She doesn't want to give anyone the upper hand, so she continues to apply make up and do her hair every day. It's better to look good when smiling in the faces of those that were bothering her. Generally, she wears dark red lipstick, and typical pin up style eye make up. If flowers are to be found on the ground, she'll generally take one and put it in her hair.
In regards to her jewelry, she only wears one thing. That is her mother's rosary. Long ago, she had lost faith in anything that could be considered "divine" so she had no problem being "sacrilegious" by wearing it around her neck. It's just a reminder of home; a simple, black rosary.
On her off hours, she dresses rather conservatively. A pair of jeans and a sweater are her usual apparel. If she really wanted to show off her body, she was sure that she could find a nice boy to share a closet with. But, her body was to remain a bit of a secret to those around her.
But that leaves no one:
To discover that inside:
Tiana, naturally isn't too much of an introvert. She's a very loud, opinionated person once someone takes the time to get to know her. She's very open about anything and everything that can be talked about, probably will come up around her. It takes a lot to offend her, or throw her off. Her greatest joy is playing Devil's advocate. She likes to make people think about what they're talking about, and whether or not they're right. She constantly strives to keep her mind open, although that is very difficult on certain issues. While opinions are what most people argue with, she tries to break things down with facts.
To say that Tiana is a logical thinker, is putting it lightly. She realizes that emotions are irrational, and getting her feelings hurt as often as she does isn't going to do anything for her. If she is going to continue surviving at Hogwarts, she needs to learn that those are peoples opinions. Not facts about herself. It has gotten to the point that TIana is basically "emotionally stupid." It takes her a long time to recognize her own emotions, while she recognizes others perfectly. Well, obvious emotions. Truth is that the more complex the emotions are, the less chance she has of understanding them. If they were based on something logical, she can comprehend. If it's just emotions born of misconstrued statements or situational inferences she can't understand. Paired with all of this is an insatiable need to learn, and a diabolical intellect.
However, that is only what one sees after getting to know her. Tiana is very quiet in school. She has very few friends, and is very uneasy about letting someone in. She rationalizes it by saying that they won't like her because of the fact that she is a half-blood. It's better to just not let them in at all then let them in and deter her from what matters; school. To everyone else, she's a quiet bookworm and that's the way that she would like to keep things. Unless, someone really shows an interest.
This soulless being:
♥ Books
♥ Learning
♥ Anything and everything to do with medicine
♥ Open-Mindedness
♥ Intellectual Debate
♥ Intelligence, Period (That's what she finds most attractive)
♥ Dancing (One of her hidden talents)
♥ Make-up (A stupid, irrational infatuation, but she really does enjoy toying with different looks)
♥ Boys (She'll admit, she's a touch boy crazy. It's just a matter of working up the courage to talk to one)
Is just as lost:
- Judgmental People
- Closed Mindedness
- Stupidity
- Repetitive Bad Decisions... and people that complain about making them
- Poor Grammar
As everyone else:
Healing Magic
Transfiguration
Her Stubbornness
Her intelligence
Her Ability to Protect Herself (Emotional, as well as Physically)
In a world that knows only hate:
Her Fear Of Letting People In
Potions
Her Dire Need to Rationalize Everything
Her social awkwardness at times
Her inability to tell whether someone is interested in getting to know her or not
And causes pain for the soulless like me:
- That she's actually a beautiful dancer, classically trained from the time she was a small child.
- Though she has fooled around with... less than a handful of people, she has never lost her virginity.
They left me to die:
Paciencia Medina (Aunt), Sylvia Medina (Aunt), Alberto Medina (Uncle), Alanzo Medina (Cousin)
On a bed of roses:
None that Tiana knows of.
Blood seeping through:
- The fact that Tiana and her mother exist is a Magdalena secret.
The satin sheets of fame:
Well off
What a bitter story of love:
Tiana's story didn't really begin with her. Then again, most peoples stories rarely do. It's not as though in the brief sixteen years of her life she could have really done anything that interesting that was worthy of taking note. No, her story began with her family. A typical Romeo and Juliet story... Except with magic. Well, from one party. It probably is as simple as they met, and fell in love, but there is a great deal to be added in between. See, in the world that they lived in, nothing was cut and dry... Nothing was really all that simple.
Tiana's father was a Wizard. Sure, most people had heard of them through stories and the like, but no one actually believed that magic was an actual possibility. Her mother was an opera singer in Barcelona. Her father was born and raised in England, and up until quite recently, she believed that he went to a ritzy private school. His whole family was incredibly wealthy. When her father was younger, he decided to travel the world working for a company that she later learned was actually the Ministry of Magic. Inevitably, they met, and fell in love. They ran away together, and very soon after got married.
When Tiana was growing up, she never knew her father's family. She always thought it was because of the fact that his parents were upset about him marrying a Spaniard... Or a poor woman. She never really got the whole story. When she was growing up, she noticed that she had strange abilities. Things would happen that really made no sense to her. When she would tell her mother about them, her mother would laugh and tell her that she was silly... But there was always this.. strange look on her face.
She was classically trained in any kind of dance that she could get into. Ballet was her favorite, although, as she grew older she became entirely too top heavy to actually continue with is as a career. Always the studious child, and always the logical one, she started looking into other careers. Medicine quickly became a passion, and she bunkered down to study as much as possible. But it seemed as though life had a different direction for her to take. A letter from Hogwarts came for her, and that was when everything that she knew quickly unraveled.
Her father explained to her that he didn't want to keep it a secret from her, but her mother thought that she would just get confused. That, and the life of a witch would bring her nothing but pain. After all, she wasn't a pure witch. At first, Tiana agreed with her mother and refused to go to Hogwarts... Up until she realized that healing others with magic was probably more effective than healing them with medicine. So, she agreed. Sometimes, she's happy that she made the decision that she did, but others... Well, it's basically a glorified high school. When she arrived at Hogwarts, she was sorted into the Ravenclaw House. No one enjoys high school. Just because she has magic, doesn't mean that she's special.
The sun was high in the sky as she curled up on the lawn. It was Spring Time. Things were still rather damp, but that didn't really phase Tiana. She cast a spell on her sweater which she had placed on the ground to be water resistant. The girls that she was rooming with decided that they wanted to stay in today and she really needed the privacy. It had been a rather bad week for her. The closer they got to finals, the worse the teasing became. It wasn't as though she was surprised. After all, that's all that her classmates seemed to be good for.
Chewing on her thumb, she flipped another page of her book. A Slytherin walked by and made a rather loud, lewd remark. She ignored him and continued her reading, satisfied by the squelching sound that came from his foot being completely submerged in muddy water. Fighting the smirk that was threatening to come to her lips, she swallowed and cleared her throat. She had a few finals to study for. Now wasn't the time to be satisfied with being a spiteful woman. Although, her mother would have been proud of her... It wasn't every day that her daughter showed signs of having a back bone.
Looking back out over the lawns, she watched as a few students shuffled along in either direction of Hogwarts. She had to keep reminding herself that she had a year left after this year and she was done. Then she could go off and get a real job and not have to deal with all of this crap ever... Who was she kidding? The rest of the Wizarding population was of the same opinion of the jerks that she went to school with. Swallowing down the disgusted sound that was threatening to come form her throat, she shook her head.
At least it won't be so bad. She thought. At least, that was what she kept telling herself.
Someday, things would be easier for half-bloods like her. Hopefully. It wouldn't be in her lifetime. It wouldn't be in her children's life time, provided she decided to have any. But, it would be nice to believe that some day, witches and wizards could just learn to co-exist. That was an impossibility, especially with the houses and the like. They were raised, from the beginning to hate each other. Or fight like cats and dogs.
Rolling her shoulders in a stretch that was all too familiar to her, she pushed herself to her feet and gathered all of her things. She'd grab something to eat, make it to her last class, then go hide in her room. The other girls probably wouldn't be there then, and she'd be able to study. There she was again, hoping...
