SUNDAY MORNING, AROUND NINE AM
THE LAWNS OF HOGWARTS, A SECLUDED AREA
------------------------------------------------------------------------
She smiled softly at the taxi driver as she handed her money over and grabbed her guitar and handbag from the seat beside her. She stepped onto the street and looked over the park with its large stonehenge centre and the large fountain that was spraying water softly on a group of children playing beside it. The park was surrounded by a large path with a playground to the left and a large expanse of trees and grass on the right. She stepped into the park boundary, swinging the strap of her handbag over her shoulder and making her way to a clump of trees that would shade her and hide her from view, slightly. It had been a while since she had come to this park, several years in fact, but nothing much about Stonehenge Park had changed.
Rena Skeeter watched as the birds passed her by. She had been in her dormitory all afternoon, staring at a blank page as she tried to write her most recent essay, though nothing was coming to mind. She had decided that she needed a break, and she had definately earned it in her own eyes. She knew the perfect place to relax and later she would grab some lunch, spend some quality time with her own mind and her music. She rested her chin on her hand and looked out over the grounds, the back of the bench she was sitting on was just high enough. She watched the other students passing by in twos and threes as they wandered hand in hand or side by side discussing recent events. Rena smiled to herself, though it was rather saddened, and turned her attention away from the groups beside the castle, a change of scenery was definately in order, at least in her own mind. She grabbed her guitar from the seat beside her and rose to her feet, looking for a secluded place. She knew that her parents did not approve of her passtimes so she had simply opted to continue it in secret.
She found a part of the laws that was surrounded by a large expanse of trees with a nice patch of soft frass to sit on. She tugged the guitar up slightly in her hands and made her way to a clump of trees that would shade her and hide her from view, slightly. It had been a while since she had enjoyed the peace and solitude that the Hogwarts Grounds provided, at least for pleasure and not while studying, though nothing about the ancient school had changed. She offered a soft smile to a young girl that she passed before she sat down on the ground, pulling her guitar from its case and placing the strap around her shoulder, getting into a comfortable position. She hadn't played the guitar in a while, it was inappropriate of a woman, her mother had said, the woman barely supported her desire to continue with playing the piano but apparently the guitar was too masculine or some other bull that she hadn't listened to.
She began to lightly strum the strings, testing them before she began the introduction to a song she had played so many times before, a muggle song that had once seemed to fit her situation, in the past. "Turn it inside out so I can see, the part of you that's drifting over me, and when I wake you're, you're never there, but when I sleep you're, you're everywhere. You're everywhere..." She let the softness of the music and her own voice merge and she closed her eyes. She had become so familiar with the chord progression that she had barely any need to look, only checking the positions of her fingers on the fret board every so often so that she wouldn't make a horrible mistake in a public place. She drowned out the sounds of laughter and chatter from around her as she played, her mind drifting to various situations and people, none ever staying long enough for her to grasp onto them or make sense of them. "Just tell me how I got this far, tell me why you're here and who you are. 'Cause everytime I look you're never there, and everytime I sleep you're always there..."
She was lost in her own world of music and vocals and memories, a place she rarely visited these days. Her voice became more passionate and she moved with the music as she reached the chorus, her voice ringing out to blend with the music but dulled slightly by the trees. "'Cause you're everywhere to me, when I close my eyes its you I see. You're everything I know that makes me believe, I'm not alone. I'm not alone..." She was so lost in her music that she didn't register the rustling of trees behind her, the shadow that fell on the ground or the voice that spoke to her. She jumped as a hand on her shoulder broke her from her musings and both the guitar and her singing stopped, had she really been that out of it? She sighed, placing a hand to her chest, to calm her rapidly beating heart, and turning around.
