Sorry for the short, crappy post, je suis fatiguée >.>; And sorry Rem's being all 'intuitive' (as in noticing her attitude-change-ego-thing xP), I'm exploring the borders of what would be 'realistically animalistic' and what's 'over the top' xP Word count: 282 Remus fell silent after a while, glancing between Monnie's book and herself. He wasn't sure what it was, but for a moment he had thought she wasn't so bad, and then her entire attitude seemed to have changed as the silence wore on. Then she started talking about what she used to complete the assignment and it started dawning on him. She did think she was better than him. Of course she did. How could he even have doubted it? "Yeah, it's.. that's pretty brilliant," he admitted, nodding slightly. "I'll, I'll think about all that." Remus knew he wouldn't. He was probably not able to do what she suggested, anyway, why bother? He half-smiled. "Thanks for the advice," he added, in a more soft and pensive tone, closing her book and handing it back to her. "You'll come up with something."He almost scoffed at that. It was so obviously not meant that it was almost too easy to igore it. "Oh, absolutely," he said, as he picked up his bag and got up from his chair. Remus kept his voice calm although it was still softer than it had been and, perhaps, should've been. The werewolf wasn't quite sure what had just happened, but for a moment he had gotten his hopes up and then he had been disappointed. 'You're being an idiot, Remus,' he was telling himself. 'Why do you even care? Why would you? You already have great friends and this girl did just turn out to be the pureblooded.. elitist that she is. Besides, you hardly could've expected anything else, could you?'Remus glanced at Monnie for a second, not sure if he should say goodbye or not.

Monnie nodded her head. Her idea was pretty brilliant. She was a pretty brilliant sort of person really. She studied and she did what she wanted to do. She was one of those successful people that didn't just get by on their parents and family merits, but those of their own. Not a lot of people that were pure blooded did that so not only did she think she was better than Lupin here, she thought she was better than pretty much everyone. Though she was a Hufflepuff, so that sort of knocked her down a few pegs, but once she got into the real world, no one would ever have to know what house she was in, they would all assume her a Ravenclaw or Slytherin, and she knew that she would allow them to carry on assuming.
"There's got to be heaps of possibilities that are practical and original. You just need to do more research and more thinking. Stick with one idea and as long as your specific about what it's for and point out it's pro's and cons, then you'll get a good grade. Slughorn knows nothing's perfect. Apart from me." Monnie wasn't a member of the Slug Club and nor did she want to be, but Slughorn knew Monnie was a good worker and he did take a bit of a special interest in her. After all, she was one of the only people in her year to actually apply herself to his lessons. Most people in her year liked other subjects, Monnie however, figured potions would certainly be useful with the line of work she wanted to do, after all, she'd probably need to prescribe and make some for her patients.
Monnie didn't even blink as Lupin stood up with his bag. She just figured he'd had enough of her and that he was going to leave, but he hesitated. She didn't care though, she just let her eyes drift over the book she was reading and absorbed its knowledge. "Take my book with you, even if you don't need it for what you want to do, it's still a good read and will prepare you for advanced Charms, if you ever get good enough grades to be accepted into the class. Flitwick is very particular on who he accepts for that level, with a fair bit of background knowledge, it would give you an edge." It didn't sound like it because Monnie had that snooty, 'I'm always perfect and right' tone going on, but she was trying to sort of help Lupin get a leg up because she knew e was smart. Not as smart as her, but he was a clever bugger that would do well and she liked him. He was giving her a chance after all. Or had given her a chance. post status:.finished. tag: remus .j. lupin word count: 488 // ... outfit: take a .peek.lyrics: wonderwall, oasis comments:Monnie doesn't know how to have proper friends lol. Friendships take a while to develop, not just one sit in, so if Remus were to leave now, would you be able to make a topic in the great hall so Monnie could wander over and join him? lol[/font]

Yeah, Remus wants to leave know (I really can't stop him, but here is the new topic where he gives her her book back and everything Word count: 304 Remus didn't think of himself as brilliant at all. Oh, sure, he got great grades - but that was just because he worked his furry arse off every single minute that he was able to. It was bad enough that he had to miss one or two days a month, already. "There's got to be heaps of possibilities that are practical and original. You just need to do more research and more thinking. Stick with one idea and as long as your specific about what it's for and point out it's pro's and cons, then you'll get a good grade. Slughorn knows nothing's perfect. Apart from me." The last addition almost made Remus smile, but he knew it wasn't a joke, so he didn't. He nodded and half-smiled at her, again. "Thanks, I'll try that." Remus wasn't a member of the Slug Club either. Potions weren't his forte. Although he was able to follow instructions to the letter, potions seemed to require a certain gut feeling or intuition which he didn't possess. When things didn't go exactly right when he had followed the instructions perfectly, Remus was at a loss; it was as simple as that. As for 'usefullness to his future line of work', well.. let's not even think about that. It'll probably depress Remus. Monnie didn't seem so surprised he was leaving, but it did surprise Remus when she offered to lend him her book. She still sounded, well, like a know-it-all, but the Lycanthrope accepted the offer nonetheless, carefully putting the book in his bag. He didn't want to damage it, after all - he couldn't buy her a new one and books were sacred. "Just let me know if you want it back." Remus nodded at her, as a matter of 'thanks', smiled and turned, walking out of the library.
