Clothing: click meeeeeeeWord Count: 564 Tagged: Remus The weather just wasn’t going to play nice for the day, Lena thought as she looked out the window and across the grounds to look at the sky. It was a dark pewter color and looked like flood gates would open any minute on rain, or it would just be a lot of noise and annoyance. It would probably be a stupid idea to go outside until the actual weather was determined. Well, too bad. Lena wanted to go outside. She had to get out of the castle and walk around for a bit in the cold air. It wasn’t as cold as it had been for winter but it was still chilly. She just needed to go out because she couldn’t concentrate on anything at all when she’d been trying to do her homework. It was completely unusual and she knew she must have scared quite a few of the first years when she’d literally snapped and growled at them to be quiet when they had been playing exploding snap. It was highly unusual for Lena to snap at anyone, let alone be mean in any way. She just felt so suffocated in the Gryffindor common room that she finally just got up and left all of her books and parchment on the table where she’d been trying to work. She’d sat at that table for a little over an hour and hadn’t been able to write even one line. Lena had been unable to read the passages she had to and thus couldn’t do her assignments. When she’d left the tower she had hurried down the stair cases until she had looked out a window and the weather caught her eye.
She looked down at herself in a burgundy sweater and a pair of skinny dark pants, with a pair of black boots reaching to her knee. Lena wasn’t really dressed to go outside but something inside her told her she would finally, blissfully, find her peace outside. So she hurried down the rest of the stairs and out the front doors, sucking in a breath as a wind suddenly hit her and her hair flipped around in the wind. She quickly pulled a hair thing off of her wrist and tied her hair up into a shell ponytail so strands wouldn’t come out and hit her face. Her gaze went to the sky as she headed out across the grounds, taking deep breaths. She did feel better, being outside. Lena wasn’t exactly sure why she had been driven to distraction so badly while in the common but she knew why she had been feeling uneasy deep in her belly for the last couple days. After the fight, the kiss, and the hurt in the library with Sirius, she had felt awkward around anyone. She wasn’t exactly avoiding Sirius like she was before, now. They just weren’t really talking. And today he had detention so she shouldn’t have been feeling so weird in the tower with him gone. But she had.
Lena finally stopped walking, near the lake. She took another deep breath, relaxing even more, and climbed up onto the huge rock that was at the edge of the lake and sat on it, curling her legs up close to her chest and her arms around her knees as she looked out across the water and let her mind float away.

Remus didn't care the weather outside was as bad and unpredictable as Sirius was on a bad, unpredictable day just before he was going to have to go home for christmas. He'd been reading in the common room when Lena had snapped at some first years before walking off, and Remus couldn't help but feel slightly responsible for a number of reasons. Reason number one, which was a bit stupid, was that he was a Prefect, so if something was wrong, people in his house could come to him, couldn't they? The second reason was because he had this gut feeling it might have something to do with the fact he told Sirius that Lena was sort of avoiding him.. Knowing Sirius, he would've looked for her until he'd found her, and looking at Lena now.. the result couldn't have been good.
He wasn't dressed for the cold much (he was wearing a pair of very old, faded jeans and a dark green turtleneck that was fraying at the elbows), but he wasn't going to bother with getting a coat. Actually, he even left his book behind to follow Lena outside from a distance. He decided to give her some space first, maybe he'd been wrong, maybe she was just meeting up with some friends.. or something like that, but when she sat down by the lake, Remus guessed she wasn't meeting anyone. Well, she would soon, because he wasn't going to leave her sitting alone in the cold like that.
Slowly, he started walking towards the lake, not quite sure how to start the conversation. Was there going to be a conversation? Remus wasn't at all good at this, but he had the feeling Lena might just want to blow off steam and he was going to volunteer. It was partly his fault, anyway. Maybe he wouldn't say anything. Maybe he would just sit or stand next to her and that would help. He didn't know. Maybe she'd yell at him before he had the opportunity to say anything. Frankly, Remus was prepared for the worst. He knew how blunt Sirius could be, even if he hadn't often been on his friends bad side before, and no matter what Lena had said to trigger Sirius' temper, he was sure she hadn't deserved whatever he'd said to her. He was nearly there now and still didn't have a clue what to do or say, so he was just going to go with whatever came to him first. Standing beside the rock Lena was sitting on, Remus cleared his throat a little. "Hey.." he muttered, glancing sideways at his classmate. "You okay?"

Clothing: click meeeeeeeWord Count: 485 Tagged: Remus Lena hadn’t known anyone was following her. She had been so consumed in her thoughts of just getting out of the castle and getting some fresh air, she hadn’t paid attention. It was a surprise she hadn’t actually run into anyone or anything. Or that, in her haste, she hadn’t fallen down the stairs. That would have been horrible. Death by falling down stairs and twisting her neck while trying to get out of the castle to breath. That would have been quite ironic. Even if she had noticed someone following her, she probably wouldn’t have cared. She wasn’t opposed to talking, she was opposed to being cooped up inside for so long and feeling like everyone was watching her. Lena would have to apologize to those little first years later. At some point anyway. It wasn’t their fault she might be slowly edging into madness in her thoughts. If it was anyone’s fault it was hers and Sirius’. Especially his because he had twisted her up so much the last time they’d talked. And then he had just left her, having the last word when the last word had hurt her. Then again, that was all he had done for almost the whole time they’d talked. Lena sighed and shook her head, trying to clear him from her mind. She didn’t need him muddling things up again, without even being there. He was locked up somewhere in the castle for detention and she was outside in the cold, almost daring the rain to pour down on her.
It didn’t take her long to notice she wasn’t alone though. Once she had sat down and became still, she heard footsteps behind her. They were slow and steady footsteps so it wasn’t someone about to attack her. Lena figured it was probably just someone who’d seen her hurrying outside and was wondering why the, usually, clear headed teen had had steam pouring from her ears. When the person who had come up beside her cleared their throat, she lifted her head and looked over, blinking once in curiosity as she saw Remus. At his soft ”Hey…You ok?” she almost smiled but shifted to the side on the rock instead and patted the space next to her to tell him he could sit with her if he wanted to. “Hey, Remus. I guess you saw me back there…I don’t know what’s wrong with me.” The last part she said with a bit of a sigh, looking out across the lake before turning to look at him. “I’m still a little mad at you for telling him I was hiding from him, you know.” She paused, knowing he would understand who ‘he’ was without her saying his name. “But I know you only did it because you wanted to make things right. You really are a good friend for that. So I forgive you for the most part.”

At least she wasn't yelling at him. Still, maybe Remus found it more discomforting that she was now being so logical about it. Even he blew off steam sometimes and, yes, even Remus could curse and swear. Of course, he didn't know what Sirius had said, but if it was bad, she had a right to be angry and keeping angry feelings bottled up inside was never ever a good idea. Remus sat down next to her in silence, listening to what she had to say and admittedly chewing his lower lip a little when she said she was still a little mad at him. "Well, yes.. it's why I'm here. I figured if you were going to take your anger out on anyone it might as well be me." He said it with a bit of a twinkle in his eyes, indicating it was a bit of a joke, but there was something in his voice that made it sound more serious than he'd intended.
"I didn't mean to tell him you were avoiding him, but he just kept nagging on and on about it, so I thought.." Remus shook his head to himself. "I thought he was going to talk to you and fix it - not talk to you to make it worse. I couldn't imagine why else Sirius would want to find you, he doesn't seem the type to track down girls he only intends to be one-night-stands," he softly mused and swallowed. Remus looked out over the lake. It looked dark and cold. In the summer, when the sun was shining, it seemed a lighter, brighter sort of water, but it was only march, so the water was dark and heavy like lead. He'd almost swear he could walk on it, it looked so solid. He wasn't so sure what to do now. The start had been good so far. She'd talked to him and sort of forgiven him, he'd offered help, but he wasn't sure if she'd take the offer, really. Lena was such an independent person, quite the opposite of Remus, really, and he didn't know her well enough to guess what would make her laugh or cheer her up a little so for now, he remained silent and glanced at the lake thoughtfully.
Why did his best friend have to be like this? And if he was going to tell her he wasn't interested, why couldn't he have done so a little more.. discreetly? Then again, Sirius' temper was such an integral part of Sirius' siriusness that it would be strange if his friend lost that particular characteristic. As violently blunt as he could be sometimes, so passionately could he also be - just not about girls, more about pranks and the like. Remus personally thought Sirius didn't want to get too close with anyone just because his family was so terrible and he was afraid to get hurt or something - because there were days when Sirius did laugh just a bit too loud and that made Remus wonder. But on the other hand Sirius seemed to be perfectly able to stand up for himself and be strong. Sirius was also quite different from Remus. Sometimes, Remus thought he didn't know Sirius that well at all, really, and he wondered if Sirius knew himself well, but then thoughts would get confusing and he'd just dismiss them, because they were all fine, weren't they? And this was just a bit of romantic drama in which Sirius had been a bit of an arse. No reason to search for deeper meanings, was there?

Lena had done a lot of yelling and fighting and arguing in the library with Sirius. So much so that she didn’t think she would be able to yell again, at anything, for a while. So when she had snapped at the first years it had surprised her as much as it had them. And she had been completely embarrassed by it. She really would have to say sorry to them. There’d be nothing else to it. It had to be done. Next time she saw them, Lena would apologize. Lena felt Remus sit on the rock beside her and she continued to look out on the lake, not really feeling the urge to yell at anything anymore, unless it was to yell at Sirius and tell him what a complete arse he was. "Well, yes.. it's why I'm here. I figured if you were going to take your anger out on anyone it might as well be me." She smiled slightly, appreciating his joke. She did notice the serious side to it but she shook her head. “I really don’t want to take my anger out on anyone. I didn’t mean to scare those poor first years.” She took a deep breath and let it out slowly, looking at the dark sky. “Scratch that. There is someone I might want to yell at but it’s just not worth it anymore.”
Lena turned her head to look at him as he tried to explain. "I didn't mean to tell him you were avoiding him, but he just kept nagging on and on about it, so I thought.." Remus shook his head to himself. "I thought he was going to talk to you and fix it - not talk to you to make it worse. I couldn't imagine why else Sirius would want to find you, he doesn't seem the type to track down girls he only intends to be one-night-stands." She raises an eyebrow at his description of how Sirius had been acting. “How was he nagging about it? And you had a good reason for telling him. It’s not your fault things didn’t really go as planned. I’m not avoiding him anymore so that result was created at least. We just ended up creating more problems instead of fixing them.” And she did mean the ‘we’. She couldn’t put all the blame on Sirius. She had said some things too that she probably shouldn’t have.
The silence stretched for a few moments before she spoke again. “You really shouldn’t blame yourself. No one could have guessed what was going to happen when Sirius found me in the library a few days ago. I think we surprised each other by the end of it when he left.” Lena was still sore that he’d left before she could speak. Obviously her opinion on ‘I won’t be a boyfriend’ didn’t matter. And now that all that had happened that day, she didn’t quite know how to act around Sirius and she didn’t think he knew how to act around her because they hadn’t talked to each other since. “I don’t know where to go from here, honestly.” She puffed out air, rolling her eyes slightly before setting her chin in her hand. She meant she didn’t know how to move forward with Sirius. If it was even possible by that point.

Remus sighed softly and fidgeted with his hands a little. He still sort of felt responsible and really did want to fix it, as he liked both Lena and Sirius and hated fights. He could almost feel her smile at his little half-joke and was glad of it, but it wasn't good enough. “I really don’t want to take my anger out on anyone. I didn’t mean to scare those poor first years.” Remus stayed silent, half shrugged, and continued to look a little too guilty. “Scratch that. There is someone I might want to yell at but it’s just not worth it anymore.” Remus let out a slight sound that might either have been a laugh or a sound of surprise. "It's never good to keep your frustrations inside," was all he said, really. He didn't really know what else to say; he'd never been particularly good at this sort of thing and he just tried not to overthink it and say a few things that at least sounded a little comforting.
The moment Lena looked at him and raised an eyebrow, Remus knew he had some explaining to do. "How he was nagging about it?" Oh, yes, it always makes you seem so clever when you dumbly repeat the question. Not. "Oh, I don't know, you know how Sirius is. He'll keep going on about something until you practically confess things you've never done." Well, Remus would, anyway. The amount of power that Sirius, or his friends for that matter, had over him sometimes could be frightening. "It’s not your fault things didn’t really go as planned. I’m not avoiding him anymore so that result was created at least. We just ended up creating more problems instead of fixing them.” Remus grinned a little lopsidedly. "Don't approach these kinds of things logically - believe me, I've tried, it doesn't work even if you think it does."
Yet again, he was at a loss what to say, really, until Lena spoke again, pulling Remus away from his thoughts. “You really shouldn’t blame yourself. No one could have guessed what was going to happen when Sirius found me in the library a few days ago. I think we surprised each other by the end of it when he left.” Remus shrugged again. "Blaming yourself is easy. Plus, it was me who triggered the confrontation. If it had taken place a day later, it might have gone quite different." True - you never knew with Sirius, his mood could change in a split second. “I don’t know where to go from here, honestly.” Remus glanced at Lena shortly, then directed his gaze back to the lake. "Well.." He paused a moment to think before continuing. "I don't really know what happened exactly, but, well.. Sirius' bad mood usually pass soon. Just leave him alone for a few days and there's a chance he'll just forget about it and everything goes back to normal." That was how Sirius was, usually. Then again.. Remus had no idea what had happened between Sirius and Lena, and even if he knew, he probably didn't know how to fix that, either. After all, Sirius and he had never been in the situation Sirius and Lena were in now.

Clothing: click meeeeeeeWord Count: 580 Tagged: Remus At Remus’ little sound she turned and looked at him curiously, wondering what it had been for, and what exactly it had meant. When he elaborated by speaking she snickered softly, amused. “I don’t think that’s a problem, Remus. We did a lot of yelling at each other a few days ago. It almost got us thrown out of the library, even. So don’t worry that I’m repressing any feelings inside.” Remus was truly a great guy for wanting to make her feel better like this and even just sitting here and listening to her talk. It was nice, knowing he cared about their friendship like that. She’d been feeling really terrible since the Sirius fight because he had said she had no friends at all and that she was all alone. Guess Remus being here with her now, proved him wrong.
She almost laughed softly when he repeated her question. Lena had long since noticed he did that when he was a little uncomfortable or being shy. She noticed a lot of things about others when she just sat back and watched them. Lena nodded her head and “mhm”ed as he spoke. “True. I think he tried to do that with me when he was trying to get me to…” She trailed off, thinking about how Sirius had been when trying to get her to go out with him. She sighed softly, not wanting to think about it. Lena was glad the subject quickly changed again. "Don't approach these kinds of things logically - believe me, I've tried, it doesn't work even if you think it does." She smiled and shook her head. “I can’t help but look at it like that a little bit. But it’s not just all logic. That’s how things are, in my opinion. I wouldn’t know Sirius’ so…” She shrugged, watching him, her slight smile still on her lips.
She raised an eyebrow in confusion. “What would a day later have mattered? He still would have blown up and me, and I would have blown up at him. Truly Remus. Please stop blaming yourself. I don’t blame you.” She gave him a small little smile, hoping to make him feel better and less guilty about it. “It was bound to happen sooner or later. Me and him had a lot of things that needed to be said.” Even if they were mostly yelled, she mused.
"I don't really know what happened exactly, but, well.. Sirius' bad mood usually pass soon. Just leave him alone for a few days and there's a chance he'll just forget about it and everything goes back to normal." She sighed at the thought and leaned against Remus’ shoulder for a moment, adding in a small smile, to show she a appreciated him trying, even though he had confessed before that he wasn’t very good about talking about things like this. “That might just be part of the problem. I don’t quite think he’s mad at me anymore….and I don’t think anything will go back to normal. Both of us said a lot of things to each other in the library and neither of us can unsay, or undo, them.” Lena shrugged. She really didn’t know how her and Sirius could go back to just being friends after she basically told him she really liked him, they had kissed, and he had told her he couldn’t handle being a boyfriend and had left her before she could speak.

Remus was a little surprised to hear Lena laugh like he'd just said something funny. “I don’t think that’s a problem, Remus. We did a lot of yelling at each other a few days ago. It almost got us thrown out of the library, even. So don’t worry that I’m repressing any feelings inside.” He tried a careful smile, as the situation still wasn't worth a cheerful mood in his opinion, and nodded slightly. "Good, good. Sirius has the power to.. frustrate." He scoffed at the choice of words and half shrugged. "He's usually so- He doesn't always realise when his words are too harsh; though when he means them, he sometimes always knows exactly what to say if he wants them to hit home." It wasn't that Remus didn't like his friend. Sirius was a great friend, but a passionate friend in almost all emotions which took a bit of time getting used to - if one could ever really get used to it at all. Being friends with Sirius (especially with Sirius and James) was like a sort of dangerous roller coaster ride. It was wonderful and awesome and dazzling, but Sirius sometimes went too fast or forgot they were high up. He didn't mean to, he just tended to forget. Or that's how Remus looked at it, anyway. He wasn't so sure. He'd never tried figuring out Sirius or James or even Peter, simply because he didn't like being figured out himself.
“True. I think he tried to do that with me when he was trying to get me to…” Remus was rather glad she didn't finish that sentence - there were a lot of possibilities and many of them were images he didn't want to imagine at all. Remus mimicked Lena's slight smile and half nodded. "It's a sad thing that logic doesn't always apply." He straightened his back and winced as his spinal cord cracked in a few places. Bad back, hurrah. "I sometimes think I don't know Sirius either," he confessed with a weak grin. "Then again, I suppose we hardly know anyone. What am I saying, we hardly know ourselves." He shrugged slightly, rested his elbows on his knees and stared at the lake. "Or is that too philosophical for this time of day?" he said as his grin widened, obviously joking.
“What would a day later have mattered? He still would have blown up and me, and I would have blown up at him. Truly Remus. Please stop blaming yourself. I don’t blame you. It was bound to happen sooner or later. Me and him had a lot of things that needed to be said.” Remus gave another shrug. "I suppose you're right." Maybe thinking a day later would've mattered made him feel better, somehow, like there was a change of Sirius not being rude to Lena. Actually, Remus thought Lena would be good for Sirius, slow him down just a little, keep him walking on firm ground in stead of with his head in the clouds.
He couldn't help but blink a little surprised as Lena leaned against him. Remus wasn't one for physical contact a lot, but they were basically sitting thigh to thigh anyway and, surprisingly, he didn't feel at all unpleasant. Probably because Lena was, really, rather trustworthy and a reliable sort of person - so he smiled. “That might just be part of the problem. I don’t quite think he’s mad at me anymore….and I don’t think anything will go back to normal. Both of us said a lot of things to each other in the library and neither of us can unsay, or undo, them.” Remus was silent for a moment. "Well.. never say never - that's what my mom always says. Sirius' mind works in mysterious ways, you never know."

Clothing: click meeeeeeeWord Count: 785 Tagged: Remus Lena had a good mood about most things. She rarely yelled or snapped at anyone and if she did it was because something was seriously wrong. So her laughing at herself wasn’t unusual. It was needed, after all that had happened the other day. "Good, good. Sirius has the power to.. frustrate." Lena laughed softly again, shaking her head, knowing exactly how frustrating he could be, and completely understanding Remus. “And not just frustrate. He can make you want to tug your hair out while trying to get through to him.” She turned her head to watch him talk, noticing his expression. "He's usually so- He doesn't always realise when his words are too harsh; though when he means them, he sometimes always knows exactly what to say if he wants them to hit home." With that, she winced and nodded, understanding that one even more. Sirius had said plenty during their fight that had gone straight through her and hurt insurmountably. The saying about the people you letting in the closest are the ones who can hurt you the most was very very true. It was one reason why she didn’t have many close friends. Beyond the fact that she didn’t go out and try to find friends, she didn’t want to be hurt like she had been when she’d lost her parents.
Lena noticed him not asking her to finish her thought and she was grateful. She didn’t really want to bring up how the two of them had been before their date. It wasn’t until she thought over what she’d said that she had almost laughed at the type of thoughts Remus must have thought he meant. Lena left it alone though, not wanting to bring it up and things becoming awkward between them.
"It's a sad thing that logic doesn't always apply." She let out a sigh and nodded, agreeing completely. “Things would be so much easier if you could use logic with everything. But emotions and relationships can’t be dealt with by using logic.” Lena noticed him move and when she heard the audible pop of his back she snickered again. “Poor Remus. You must be getting old. Which makes me feel old because I’m older than you.” When he started talking, she listened intently, it being a fairly deep conversation. Her brown eyes concentrated on him, listening to every word he said. She hummed softly to herself, thinking over what he said before she spoke. “Not too philosophical. Besides, if we aren’t philosophical now, when will we get another chance?” She said with a smile, amused by his joke. “But it makes you think. How can you even claim you know someone when you barely know yourself because of your age? I guess the more we know about ourselves, the more we will learn about others.”
Lena shivered slightly, a little cold in only her sweater dress and pants, so she’d leaned against him for a moment to feel his heat and to show him she did appreciate him trying to talk it all out with her. She had started to move away after leaning against him, thinking he wouldn’t be comfortable with her like that, but when she saw his smile, she knew it was ok and smiled back. She continued to lean against him, just a little bit, sharing their body heat together. When he spoke it was after a few moments where he was obviously thinking. Remus seemed to always think before he spoke, something very rare in teen boys in the school. It was nice. "Well.. never say never - that's what my mom always says. Sirius' mind works in mysterious ways, you never know." At him saying Sirius worked in mysterious ways she snorted and laughed. “No kidding. That kiss of his in the middle of our fight really must have come from a mysterious place in his mind.” When she noticed what she’d said, without thinking too much about it, she blushed brightly. “Oh. Um. You can forget what I just said if you’d rather.” No guy really wanted to hear about one of his buddies kissing a girl, from the girl. If a guy said he kissed a girl to his buddy, it was him showing off or something. Quite different the other way around.

Remus had to give it to Lena, he admired her for being so optimistic now. Or well, maybe not quite optimistic, but at least laughing. It sounded like Sirius had hurt her pretty badly, but she was still bravely standing. True Gryffindor, he couldn't help but think to himself with a faint grin on his face. “And not just frustrate. He can make you want to tug your hair out while trying to get through to him.” Remus half chuckled and nodded a little. "Yes, sometimes.." He shrugged and decided not to go there. "Sometimes," he simply repeated, as though that was what he had been about to say all along.
“Things would be so much easier if you could use logic with everything. But emotions and relationships can’t be dealt with by using logic.” He wasn't sure what to say to that. After all, who made him expert in love or logic - no one. Luckily, the fact his body was about a shabby as his robes changed the subject, and for once he was glad. “Poor Remus. You must be getting old. Which makes me feel old because I’m older than you.” He laughed softly. "Oh, you have no idea. I'd make Dumbledore feel old," he half joked, and wondered if there was an inch of truth in there. Remus was glad Lena didn't laugh at him. He'd never really confessed to anyone that he was sometimes unsure about the nature of one of his best friends. Was it a bad thing to confess? Remus wasn't sure, but he guessed that usually friends thought they knew each other pretty well. “Not too philosophical. Besides, if we aren’t philosophical now, when will we get another chance?” Remus smiled lopsidedly. “But it makes you think. How can you even claim you know someone when you barely know yourself because of your age? I guess the more we know about ourselves, the more we will learn about others.” He half nodded, pensive. "Or we just think we do, but we don't," he mused. "We always think we know so much. The human race is arrogant," he muttered.
It wasn't until Remus noticed her shiver that he realised she was cold and that that might've been the reason why she was leaning against him. He wasn't cold quickly and about to suggest going back inside, but stopped himself. She was old enough to watch herself and if she was too cold, she'd surely ask if they could go back in, she didn't need Remus to do that for her. Besides.. it was so pleasantly quiet. He smiled a little and smiled a little wider as, apparently, his comment made her laugh. “No kidding. That kiss of his in the middle of our fight really must have come from a mysterious place in his mind.” Remus raised an eyebrow, not sure whether to be amused, surprised, both, or something completely different. It did very much sound like Sirius, and didn't hate border love? Lena blushed a little and Remus shrugged slightly; he wasn't bothered and didn't want her to be. It wasn't like he was going to go straight to Skeeter and tell her about it or something. Far from it. If Remus was good at anything, it was keeping secrets. “Oh. Um. You can forget what I just said if you’d rather.” The fact that she thought he wouldn't want to hear about it never occurred to him, Remus just thought she didn't want the school to know. "Oh, no," he said with a bit of a shrug. "I've heard worse - that's the consequence of sharing a dorm with Sirius Black. He has no tact. I think some of our nightmares are due to his elaborate stories." He was joking, but partly. It was true that Sirius would boast about his conquests ad nauseam, and it did sort of bother Remus sometimes.

Clothing: click meeeeeeeWord Count: 530 Tagged: Remus Lena noticed the grin on his face and smile but decided not to ask about it. It looked like one of those secretive smiles that said they knew something no one else did. It was amusing to see it on his face. When he spoke she didn’t notice the halt in his words and how he covered it up, because she was distracted for a moment when the Giant Squid threw one of its tentacles out of the lake and it splashed back down. Thankfully they were sitting far enough away, the spray didn’t touch them. “I sometimes don’t know how you’ve lived in the same room as him for five years. It almost boggles the mind.”
She was glad when he laughed at her joke. She really wasn’t that good at joking around sometimes but she was really grateful that this time it seemed to work. "Oh, you have no idea. I'd make Dumbledore feel old." Lena laughed and shook her head. “Wow. That must be old because he’s, what, 300 and still doesn’t feel old?” She smiled at him, completely exaggerating Dumbledore’s name, for the fun of it.
She wasn’t about to laugh at him for sharing his thoughts with her. That would be cruel and that was something Lena was not. She also was interested in just knowing what was going on in his head sometimes. He was the less obvious of all the marauders and it was always a treat, sitting and talking with him. "Or we just think we do, but we don't," he mused. "We always think we know so much. The human race is arrogant," he muttered. She hm’d again as she thought about it. “True. There are still wonders left in the world no one understands or knows yet and people are just so complex you probably can never truly understand someone completely.”
Lena really wasn’t too cold. It was nice and quiet out here, even if it still looked like it might rain. And it was a little cold but she was fine for the moment. If it got too bad, she’d ask if they could go inside. But right now it was just too nice just sitting there and chatting with Remus.
"Oh, no," he said with a bit of a shrug. "I've heard worse - that's the consequence of sharing a dorm with Sirius Black. He has no tact. I think some of our nightmares are due to his elaborate stories." Lena wanted to laugh at that but she was still a little surprised the thing had popped out of her mouth so she just smiled. “I have no doubts that he’s quite the loud mouth. Everyone knows about what he does. Well, almost everything anyway. Anything dealing with the opposite sex, everyone knows. I just thought it might be a little weird for you hearing it from a girl instead of your buddy but..” she trailed off and shrugged. “No matter. I just wish he’d sometimes get his head out of his arse. But that probably won’t happen anytime soon, do you think?” She grinned up at him, trying to play around and cover up her slip.

“I sometimes don’t know how you’ve lived in the same room as him for five years. It almost boggles the mind.” Remus laughed heartily. "Yes, well, believe me - I tried to keep a distance in first year, but it just happened, you know, friendship." He chuckled softly and shook his head. "It's a silly thing." Remus smiled at Lena slightly; he had also been referring to the two of them, as they hadn't even spoken at the beginning of the year, but the were pretty close now, weren't they? Friendship seemed like a thing that was impossible to plan, and yet it had held more pleasant than unpleasant surprises for Remus.
He chortled a little as Lena laughed. Glad to see her laugh, apparently he was getting better at this cheering-people-up thing. “Wow. That must be old because he’s, what, 300 and still doesn’t feel old?” Remus grinned. "I suppose someone has to feel old in his stead, or the universe'll be out of balance." Okay, that had been a bit of a clumsy joke, but still - at least he wasn't blushing and stammering around girls anymore (thanks to Annelise, who had rather boosted his confidence). He was glad he could talk to Lena about things like this. Of course he talked to his friends, and he talked to Annelise, but Annelise wasn't as familiar with his friends as Lena was, for example. The more he spoke to Lena, the more he realised what a good friend she was, and thought it was a pity she often kept a distance.
“True. There are still wonders left in the world no one understands or knows yet and people are just so complex you probably can never truly understand someone completely.” Remus nodded. "Yeah," was all he could think of. He guessed no one ever wanted to know everything about everyone. Maybe they thought they did, but being able to read any person like a book, know all their details.. it would probably cause a lot of tension, or take away all the surprises in life.
“I have no doubts that he’s quite the loud mouth. Everyone knows about what he does. Well, almost everything anyway. Anything dealing with the opposite sex, everyone knows. I just thought it might be a little weird for you hearing it from a girl instead of your buddy but..” Remus smiled slightly. Sure, Sirius was a closer friend, in some aspects, but he saw Lena as much as a friend, really. The fact she was a girl came second, his opinion, because since when were friends better or not because of their gender? “No matter. I just wish he’d sometimes get his head out of his arse. But that probably won’t happen anytime soon, do you think?” Remus sighed, smiled, and shrugged. "I hope he does, soon. I think he needs someone to kick him every once in a while. Everyone needs someone to balance them out, and Siri could definitely use some balance," he mused. "To be honest," Remus added, with quite a serious look on his face, "I thought you could be that person for him, you know. I don't know, not that I know you all that well, but you seem.. you know." He shrugged, feeling a little stupid for not thinking over his thoughts before saying them. "Maybe Sirius is too attached to what he's like at the moment, and he realises the effect you might have on him, I don't know." Remus shook his head and laughed at himself, blushing slightly. "What do I know - nothing really. Forget about that, it was just a random thought."

He chuckled softly and shook his head. "It's a silly thing." Lena might not be too happy with Sirius but she did know he was a good friend to the guys. The best possible friend, even. So it really wasn’t surprising that they were friends. And look at her and Remus. One day at breakfast had changed everything and they were really close. “It is a silly thing. But it’s nice.” She smiled up at him, glad he had fallowed her out here in the beginning.
"I suppose someone has to feel old in his stead, or the universe'll be out of balance." She laughed a little bit, really finding it funny. “Very true. Balance must be kept. I bet he outlives all of us here. He’ll live for centuries to come.” She gasped fakely, acting like she just thought of something. “Do you think he’s stealing our youth? He steals it and feels younger, making us feel older?” Lena tried not to laugh at her joke, trying to pretend to be completely serious about it as if her discovery was the most genius thing ever.
She smiled slightly as he agreed to her comment but didn’t elaborate. Maybe it was a little too philosophical for the time of day. As she explained why she thought it might be awkward for Remus to hear her talk about love life issues and things, she noticed his smile and hers brightened, taking it to mean he didn’t mind and that it really didn’t matter that she was a girl. It was nice to have that feeling. James and Remus really were her closest friends, now that she didn’t think Sirius even thought of her as a friend anymore.
"I hope he does, soon. I think he needs someone to kick him every once in a while. Everyone needs someone to balance them out, and Siri could definitely use some balance" Lena smiled slightly at his sigh. It seemed this was a topic he’d thought of a bit. When he said Sirius needed a kick she snickered softly but continued to listen, interested. She raised an eyebrow at that Siri needed someone to balance him out, truly interested in this topic now. But she let him continue, wanting to hear the rest before she spoke.
"To be honest," Remus added, with quite a serious look on his face, "I thought you could be that person for him, you know. I don't know, not that I know you all that well, but you seem.. you know." He shrugged, feeling a little stupid for not thinking over his thoughts before saying them. "What do I know - nothing really. Forget about that, it was just a random thought." Lena blushed a little bit but smile. “You thought I would be good for him? That’s so sweet of you.” Her brown eyes were watching him as he finished and she sighed as well before shrugging. “To be completely honest with you, I do want to be that girl. The one to balance him out. I do like him, a lot. And I’m pretty sure he likes me a lot too. But the last thing he said to me before he disappeared was that he couldn’t “do” being a boyfriend. As if it’s a job or something that he doesn’t think he have the qualifications for, I guess.” She shrugged again. “So he pretty much had the final word on that subject and we haven’t talked since.” Lena looked up at the sky, a little upset at Sirius for leaving her before she could say a response to that, and upset that they hadn’t talked since then. The lady killer marauder was a good friend, and she missed that friendship and playing around.

“It is a silly thing. But it’s nice.” Remus smiled. "Yeah, it is nice." He laughed softly. "You know, I used to think I would never make friends, really." He rolled his eyes at himself. "I was home schooled and everything, never had much interaction, this school was so huge.." Remus smiled and shrugged again. "I suppose I'm living proof that even awkward bookworms can make friends, huh?" he joked, grinning lopsidedly.
“Very true. Balance must be kept. I bet he outlives all of us here. He’ll live for centuries to come.” Lena gasped and Remus raised an eyebrow, waiting for what would be coming next. “Do you think he’s stealing our youth? He steals it and feels younger, making us feel older?” Remus couldn't help but burst out into laughter. "No way, that could be so true," he said, still laughing and grinning as he imagined it. "If I didn't know he was such a great man, I would've believed you immediately." Remus tried to say it with a straight face, but was unable to stop grinning.
Remus did, indeed, think about Sirius a lot, especially now with the whole thing with Lena. After Sirius had helped Remus to get any further with Annelise, Remus couldn't help but wonder why Sirius didn't just give it a try. He had convinced Remus to give it a shot, what could go so wrong? If he found he didn't like Lena enough in the end, he could always break up later instead of rejecting her before anything had even started. He was still blushing a little because he'd rambled like that, but Lena seemed flattered. “You thought I would be good for him? That’s so sweet of you.” Remus smiled a little. “To be completely honest with you, I do want to be that girl. The one to balance him out. I do like him, a lot. And I’m pretty sure he likes me a lot too. But the last thing he said to me before he disappeared was that he couldn’t “do” being a boyfriend. As if it’s a job or something that he doesn’t think he have the qualifications for, I guess. So he pretty much had the final word on that subject and we haven’t talked since.” Remus nodded a little and sighed softly. "Maybe he's just afraid to grow up, or to step outside his comfort zone." Remus half shrugged. "I don't know, with his family, I can imagine.." he trailed off. It felt wrong speaking as though he knew Sirius that well, because the more he thought about it, the more he realised he didn't know Sirius that well. "I don't know what it is, I can't look in Sirius' head or anything, but I think you two should definitely talk," he concluded with a thoughtful smile in Lena's direction.

Clothing: click meeeeeeeWord Count: 565 Tagged: Remus "Yeah, it is nice." Lena smiled at his laugh. He really didn’t laugh much around other people she’d noticed so she took pride in the face that she kept making him laugh. "You know, I used to think I would never make friends, really." She blinked and raised an eyebrow at him for that. “Really? But you’re such a great guy. How could you not have friends?” Then he explained and she made a little “ah” sound. "I was home schooled and everything, never had much interaction, this school was so huge.." Remus smiled and shrugged again. "I suppose I'm living proof that even awkward bookworms can make friends, huh?" Lena smiled brightly at his silly grin and laughed softly. “You’re not too much of a bookworm, but I’m right there with you. I don’t even have the reason of not interacting with many people to credit to me not having many friends. It’s all my doing. But it’s great that you were able to beat the expectations.” She smiled and bumped her shoulder against his playfully.
"No way, that could be so true," he said, still laughing and grinning as he imagined it. "If I didn't know he was such a great man, I would've believed you immediately." Remus tried to say it with a straight face, but was unable to stop grinning. Lena laughed right along with him, amused by her silly little thought. Her eyes were bright with laughter as they joked. “He really is a great man. So maybe he does it by proxy? He surrounds himself with younger people so it in turn makes him popular. Maybe that’s why he’s stayed as the headmaster so long. Anyone else would be tired of dealing with hormonal teens by now”
"Maybe he's just afraid to grow up, or to step outside his comfort zone." Remus half shrugged. "I don't know, with his family, I can imagine.." he trailed off. Lena listened intently. She really didn’t know why exactly Sirius was so adamant about not being able to be a boyfriend unless he really didn’t want her that way. But after months of him begging her for a date, and then the date, and then their fight, she had a good idea he did like her quite a bit. Honestly, she’d never heard of Sirius running from a girl before unless it was an overly obsessed fangirl. So she didn’t understand. And if Remus didn’t either, she was stuck. Because no way would she talk to James about this, no matter how much she adored him. She let out a little puff and a sigh as well before shrugging. “I don’t really know about his family situation other than comments I’ve picked up. But I just really don’t see why his family is what is stopping him. I just really wish I understood.” She shrugged and continued to lean against him, thinking about it all. "I don't know what it is, I can't look in Sirius' head or anything, but I think you two should definitely talk," he concluded with a thoughtful smile in Lena's direction. Lena smiled back slightly but shrugged. “I want to talk to him, I do. But it just feels so awkward when I’m anywhere near him because I don’t know how we’re supposed to act together now. And I don’t think he wants to talk to me.”
