Remus rolled his eyes at his friend's still sleeping forms as he left the dorms around a quarter to eight. Still, he knew that more than half the population of Hogwarts would roll their eyes at him. How so? Well - it was a Saturday morning, and he had been up since seven am. Not for his own entertainment, mind you, Remus John Lupin very much liked his warm bed, especially on chilly February mornings, but he had things to do, and then he could sleep in all he wanted tomorrow. He smiled to himself at the prospect, it was always nice to reward yourself with something after a job well done, and Remus would do his job well today. One Potions essay, one Care of Magical Creatures theoretical case study, and Charms homework. Given, they'd been assigned two out of three (Potions and Care of Magical Creatures) only yesterday, but Remus liked being prepared and if working hard today meant having a pleasurable relaxed Sunday and a week that followed which would not be all too busy (provided the professors didn't assign them too much), that was a reason worth getting up early for. Even on a Saturday morning.
He suppressed a yawn as he strolled into the Great Hall for an early breakfast. There were few students and, actually, few teachers, too - apparently, teachers liked a lie in as much as they did. Remus sat himself down at the Gryffindor table without really seeing who he'd sat down next to until he moved to ask if she could pass him the tea pot and realised he was smiling a little at Lena Marie Becket. She was in his house, in his year, even, and he remembered seeing her in the library once or twice. Granted, Remus had been keeping out of girls' ways a little ever since Rita Damned Skeeter had decided to make him the star of the show of her crappy little gossip page, and Lena had the name of being a bit of a flirt, but as Remus was interested in Annelise only at the moment, he didn't feel as nervous as he normally would, probably. Sometimes, Remus had no idea how his mind worked, he just hoped it did the right thing. "Ah, sorry, could you pass me the tea, please?" he asked, still smiling slightly. Remus straightened his back a little, the cold made his muscles uncomfortably tight. "So what brings you here this early in the morning?" A little small talk couldn't hurt, right?

Outfit: clickWord Count: 582 Sweet sweet blessed weekend. Lena loved the weekends. She could wear normal clothes instead of the uniform that, even after 5 years, she couldn't stand. And the sleeping also helped. Lena didn't have to stay up late til the wee hours of the morning to do homework just to get up a few hours later and go to class. She still got up early, but she got more sleep. It was well known she had a better attitude on the weekends. She was generally in a good attitude, it just got better.
Lena was an early riser. Always had been for some reason. Not a morning person at all until she fully woke up, but she would always get up way before the others. Today she looked around her dorm room and had to smile at the snores from all directions saying none of them would be awake til at least lunch. It was a bit chilly so she grabbed a soft sweater and slid it on as well as a knee length denim skirt and a pair of boots. She would be warm enough as long as she stayed in the castle. Belly growling at her to hurry, she brushed her hair out but left it in soft waves around her face before heading down to the Great Hall for breakfast.
She sat alone for a few minutes before she left someone sit right beside her. Lena glanced over and had to smile slightly at the irony of it being Remus beside her. He was a bit more bookish than her but they obviously both ran on the same mental schedual to eat. She turned back to her toast, thinking he wouldn't like to talk much. It wasn't until he spoke, asking for tea, that she even knew he knew she was there. They had both been off in their own worlds. Lena had been thinking about how she'd head back to her dorm after breakfast and grab a book before curling in front of the fireplace in the commons to relax. She'd already done all of the homework so her weekend was completely open.
She smiled back, noticing his polite smile. "Sure, of course," Lena said in her naturally soft voice. She turned away to get the tea pot then turned back to him to hand it over. Once she had, she lifted her toast back up, assuming that would probably be it because he had never really talked to her before but she blinked, piece of toast half way to her mouth, as he asked her why she was down here early in the morning. Lena turned to Remus and smiled. "I could ask you the same thing. But, as it is, the truth is rather boring. I get up around this time every morning. Early riser and all that," she said, making fun of herself. "What about you?" He had to have a reason to be up early on the weekend when so very many others were still tucked nicely in their beds, even most of the professors.

Remus had been in his own world, indeed. He had been thinking about his Care of Magical Creatures homework. It was one of his worst subjects and, like potions, Remus was dependent on essays and the like to compensate for the practical work if he wished to pass. He was required to write a case-study on the Ashwinder. He had already looked up what it was, it was a thin, pale grey snake that would come into being by any magical fire that was left burning unchecked for too long. The animal would riss from the fire and lay eggs in a secluded place as quick as possible, after which it would dissolve to dust. The real dangerous part was that the Ashwinder's eggs gave off intense heat and would ignite anything that touched them. Remus was currently wondering if he should add that the eggs in frozen condition were useful in making Love Potions and the like. It was an interesting fact, but would it be relevant for a Care of Magical Creatures case-study? It would be for a Potions essay, but it wasn't, and if there was one thing Remus hated, it was losing points for putting in 'too much information'.
Lena handed him the tea and Remus was glad to find it still warm. Lukewarm tea was terrible. He poured himself a cup, adding a little extra sugar (which he normally didn't, but he felt that he could use a little extra sugar). Remus hadn't expected himself to speak to Lena, either, but then he guessed he'd realised just that - he'd never really spoken to her before, and felt a little impolite for not doing so. In fact, Remus was trying to open up to his fellow students a little. He had spend the first eleven years of his life on his own, being an only and home-schooled child, and he figured he'd been around the same people for five years now, but he'd rarely really spoken to half of them. He might as well try, there was no harm in trying, was there? If she didn't want to talk to him, she'd surely let him know, and if he grew tired of it (who knew, after all..), it was only breakfast. If their conversation had been pleasant, they could always chat on in the common room some time.
"I could ask you the same thing. But, as it is, the truth is rather boring. I get up around this time every morning. Early riser and all that. What about you?" Remus chuckled slightly. "Early riser, I pity you that you never experience the joys of snoozing in a warm bed for ages," he half teased, in quite a good mood today, actually. Probably because it was new moon tomorrow. "I, unfortunately, have essays to write, and I promised myself a long lie in on Sunday morning if I finish it all today."

Outfit: clickWord Count: 469 Lena finally finished off the toast and picked up a few strips of bacon from one of the plates before her. Most of them ended up on her plate but she nibbled on one of the smaller ones while waiting for Remus’ reply. He finally answered back, "Early riser, I pity you that you never experience the joys of snoozing in a warm bed for ages," and she had to smile at the slight tease. She shrugged but her brown eyes lit up slightly, finding him a lot different than she originally thought. The Remus she had observed before wouldn’t have talked first or would have such a good sense of humor to tease her about something. Lena decided she quite liked being wrong this time. “Oh, don’t I know it. I wish I could just lay about in bed the whole day but, sadly, my body wakes up early, no matter what I do. I guess it’s just another one of the things that makes me different from the others.”
When he mentioned essays she raised an eyebrow and figured he must mean the ones that they had just been assigned yesterday and earlier that week. She was already done with them. Lena gave him a smile. “Well a reward system is always a good tactic to make things work in your favor. I finished those essays already so if you need help you can ask me if you would like.” She shrugged again, sending the offer just in case. She knew he was intelligent enough he probably wouldn’t need the help but it was just nice to offer it. Lena thought over the Care of Magical Creatures class and of what she had chosen as the topic. Not the most common or nice thing, it was something that she was very closely connected to almost. Thestrals. She could actually see them so had decided to sketch one out and then did a study on their habits and what they were. Thestrals were what pulled the “horseless carriages” at the beginning and end of school. The only way to see them was if you had seen someone die. The thestrals weren’t really that dangerous, but they were feared because of their appearance. Sort of like a cross between a horse and a dragon, Lena liked to think.
She turned her mind from her topic on it and waited for his answer to her offer, nibbling on another piece of bacon. Lena never really ate much but that never helped her figure any. But she wouldn’t change her body anyway. 5’2” and curvy might not be normal but she liked being different.

It was true that this was a side of Remus people didn't often see, a side usually reserved for his friends. Remus did have a joking side, he even had a more mischievous side, but even less people got to see that. No, all they ever saw was Remus the Prefect, Remus the Bookworm, Remus the Nice Human Being Who Was Always Polite. "Oh, don’t I know it. I wish I could just lay about in bed the whole day but, sadly, my body wakes up early, no matter what I do. I guess it’s just another one of the things that makes me different from the others." Remus smiled and sipped his tea. "I suppose. We all have our differences."
"I finished those essays already so if you need help you can ask me if you would like." He looked surprised for a split second, simply due to the fact no one really offered him help (except for his friends when he asked or seemed to be particularly stuck on something). Remus wasn't surprised that Lena had finished her homework already, he couldn't remember a time when she'd failed to hand in her homework. It was funny and her personality seemed to contradictory, at times, but then again, he was quite sure he seemed like a walking paradox as well when it was near full moon. "Thanks," he replied, "if I get stuck, I'll come bother you." Remus smiled slightly and nodded gratefully. "What creature did you pick for Care of Magical Creatures?" he asked. It seemed like a normal thing to ask.

Outfit: clickWord Count: 430 Lena had to force herself not to snicker in case he took it the wrong way. ”We all have our differences.” A simple sentence that basically explained it all. Everyone in the school had their own differences in the things they did, what they’ve been through, their looks, or their quirks. Even as a group, they were all different. They were witches and wizards. Few in the world were more different than them. As it was, Lena still gave him a smile. “If we weren’t different, the world wouldn’t work the way it does now.” She didn’t know about Remus’ moonlight activities or anything. She noticed things, she didn’t puzzle them out. People had a right to their privacy and secrets. Goodness knows Lena liked to keep her secrets firmly locked away.
She blinked at his surprised look and frowned slightly, wondering its origin. Was he surprised she was being nice or something? She was normally nice. Or maybe it was something else all together. Lena tried to shrug it off, figuring he’d explained his surprised look if he wanted to. It couldn’t have been surprise that she was already done with it all. It was pretty much known she did all of her work way before it was due to go ahead and get it out of the way. Work first, play more later on. It worked for her while for some people preferred the “play now, work later.” Remus obviously believed in getting work done before the end of the weekend because of his little goal system he’d told her.
"Thanks, if I get stuck, I'll come bother you." Lena couldn’t hold in her soft laughter that time and let it out, shaking her head slightly. “It wouldn’t be a bother, promise. The only plans I even have for the weekend are to curl up in a chair and read unless someone drags me off somewhere. So feel free to ‘bother’ me anytime you need to.” Her brown eyes sparkled with her humor as she looked up at him. She had just nibbled on another piece of bacon when he asked her what she’d chosen for their case study paper. Lena blinked and turned to him, not really wanting to say because it was a weird choice but she knew she had to. “Thestrals,” she said softly, wondering what his reaction would be.

"If we weren’t different, the world wouldn’t work the way it does now." Remus smiled slightly. "Just imagine everyone being the same," he commented, half pensively, as though the idea was new to him. It wasn't. Especially in his younger years, one or two prior to Hogwarts, he had kept asking his mother insisting it was stupid that people were different, because that was what caused fights and problems and, in his case, prejudice. His mother had spend quite some time explaining the young Remus that diversity was a good thing - you wouldn't want a garden with only one kind of flower, after all, right? It had taken the young boy a while to understand and now, he thought he did, having been among so many different people at Hogwarts for nearly five years already.
Remus didn't explain his look of surprise and confusion, simply because he didn't know she'd seen it. He often pulled a face, but he always noticed in time and people weren't as attentive as they'd like to think, so it usually passed by unnoticed. He thought this had been one of those times. "It wouldn’t be a bother, promise. The only plans I even have for the weekend are to curl up in a chair and read unless someone drags me off somewhere. So feel free to ‘bother’ me anytime you need to." Remus grinned slightly. "Don't let Sirius hear you, he'll test his luck," he joked. He liked her sense of humour, it made talking easier. Remus had always thought that the majority of the girls around were only concerned with make up and, well, girly things - such as boys. Not something he was interested in (at all!).
"Thestrals." It was nearly a whisper and Remus nodded slowly. "Ah.." If she was doing her case study on them, she could probably see them? On the other hand, she could just read books and look at the illustrations - no need to draw a massive conclusion from just one single word. Remus couldn't see them, although he had nearly died himself, he had never seen someone die. His parents were still alive, both (for now, at least..) and they were the sole two people he's spend the first eleven years of his life with. "I chose the Ashwinder, sounded rather interesting," he replied, eventually. It was probably best to keep to scholary subjects now.

Outfit: clickWord Count: 430 Lena shook her head, not really wanting to think of everyone being the same. Life would be so incredibly boring and nothing would ever happen. If people weren’t different, there would be no reason to fight. While, seemingly, a good thing, fights(wars rather) were the best way to jump start inventions and technology. Lena was a half-breed so knew all about technology. Switzerland had been neutral and at piece. The only thing they ever made was the cookoo clock. People had to be different or there would be no sports no businesses. The world just wouldn’t be the same. Not a happy thought. She understood that and had grown up being taught that people were different and it was ok if they were. “You should never judge people because of their differences” her mother used to tell her.
Lena made a face at the mention of Sirius not needing to hear about her having nothing to do. The boy was amusing but one could only take so much of him at one time. “I really hope that doesn’t happen. I’m praying that he’ll be too busy chasing girls around or playing Quidditch this weekend to bug me. I need a day of relaxation without his hyper activity.” She smiled at him, betting Remus would understand the sentiment. Sometimes people just needed a quiet day without all the drama and everything.
She heard Remus just let out a singular sound and then didn’t comment on it. Lena let out a breath, smiling at him for not asking what must obviously be on the tip of his tongue. Thank goodness for him being too nice to not go ahead and ask what would be a very hard question for her to answer without going into anything. "I chose the Ashwinder, sounded rather interesting." She nodded and smiled wider. “Ashwinders are very interesting. I’ve only ever seen one once. It was a long time ago while I was still a little girl. It had been pretty cool but disappeared quickly. How long did you finally get yours done?” Yes talking about school stuff seemed the best way to go right now. Lena was pretty closed mouthed about her past to people she didn’t really know. This was the first time Remus and her had even talked. Maybe once they got to know each other more, she’d share more. But not yet.

Remus sipped his tea again, a little pensive, as he usually did. He couldn't help it, but as soon as a conversation fell silent, he'd get this thoughtful expression on his face. He guessed that was just his 'default expression', other people just seemed to think he was always brooding or something.
“I really hope that doesn’t happen. I’m praying that he’ll be too busy chasing girls around or playing Quidditch this weekend to bug me. I need a day of relaxation without his hyper activity.” Remus laughed softly at what Lena's said. It was very true, Sirius could be a bit of a handful at times. "I've found that sitting in the library helps, he avoids the place a lot," he said with a bit of a knowing grin, finishing the last of his tea and toying with the empty cup.
He noticed that the edge of Lena's smile held a bit of gratefulness about it and smiled back in sort of the same fashion, hoping that conveyed a 'you're welcome' or a 'don't worry about it'. As stated earlier, he wasn't a social retard, but especially body language could confuse him at times, especially when it came to girls, they seemed to have a completely different sort of body language than boys had. “Ashwinders are very interesting. I’ve only ever seen one once. It was a long time ago while I was still a little girl. It had been pretty cool but disappeared quickly. How long did you finally get yours done?” Remus' eyebrows shot up. "Really, you've seen one?" he asked. He had never seen one. Their cottage had a hearth, but his father had been a boyscout and was very fond of teaching Remus things like making fire without magic, so there was no chance of Ashwinders, then. "I've not finished it yet, I'm starting after breakfast," he admitted. He had planned to begin a few days before, but James had insisted on doing some 'Maraudery things' before the school would forget them or something (which Remus thought of as highly unlikely) and that had been taking up his time (though Remus had to admit turning entire third floor's tiles into ice had been pretty memorable indeed).

Lena raised an eyebrow. She wasn’t really surprised Sirius avoided the library like the plague. But she wasn’t about to spend her whole weekend in solitude, locked in the library. That was too cowardly of her. Lena appreciated the idea though. “I might have to try that sometime. Probably not this weekend because it’s not worth it but if he drives me insane enough I might go hide out in the library.” Her eyes twinkled in amusement. “You could even join me there if you felt the need to get away too.” She noticed Remus had a cute grin. Oh she wasn’t attracted to him beyond friendship, but she was allowed to notice these things. Not to mention, as she understood it, he was as good as taken. Which was good for him. He seemed really nice and deserved a good girlfriend.
Lena had noticed the look in his smile that said he understood and she couldn’t help but smile more brightly back at him. He was a sweet guy when you got him talking instead of the reclusive boy she’d thought he’d been. She was never more happy to be so wrong about someone. When he asked if she really saw one, excitedly surprised, she nodded with a shrug. “Our house when I was little was filled with magical stuff. When I was sleeping on the couch one night, the ashwinder woke me up when it moved around and I saw it before it disappeared. It really was pretty cool.” Lena remembered that night clearly. The sound had scared her at first but when she’d seen the pretty lizard, she had wanted one as a pet. Impossible to do, but still. She raised an eyebrow when he said he hadn’t finished it yet and she thought back, remembering he had said that was one of the things he had to finish. “Ah. I remember now. Cool.” She smiled slightly. “
Lena yawned and rolled her shoulders back, shifting to face him a little more comfortably so they could continue to talk. She was done eating but she continued to sip her coffee. The caffeinated drink didn’t do anything to her, but it tasted good. Breakfast was also the only time she ever drank it, otherwise drinking tea or pumpkin juice.

True, maybe Remus was more of a coward than he should be, being a Gryffindor - then again.. maybe he was only a coward in some aspects. “I might have to try that sometime. Probably not this weekend because it’s not worth it but if he drives me insane enough I might go hide out in the library.” Remus laughed softly. "Don't tell him that, either - he'll think it's a challenge," he assured her. He was glad his judgement of her smile had been correct and that his own had, apparently, conveyed his message correctly. His reward was another smile from her part. He felt rather good about it, even though Lena and he were just acquaintances, really.
“Our house when I was little was filled with magical stuff. When I was sleeping on the couch one night, the ashwinder woke me up when it moved around and I saw it before it disappeared. It really was pretty cool.” He nodded. "Yeh, I can imagine," he said, a little pensive. "I've never been very good with magical creatures, I'm just glad I can write an essay to keep passing this class," he half-joked, grinning slightly, and exhaled slowly. "But.." he made to get up, "I suppose this is where I leave you, as I still have to do all my research for the essay - but maybe I'll see you in the common room later today?" he asked, smiling slightly as he hoisted his backpack up a little higher.
[If you want we could just fastforward to the afternoon when Rem's done his research or something. (:]

Outfit: clickWord Count: 342 Lena sighed and shook her head. “Believe me, he won’t be hearing about any of this. I don’t need him after me even more for a challenge.” She shrugged and smiled at him, knowing he understood his friend way better than she ever could. But that was how best mates were like anyway.
Lena normally didn’t share her past but the little bit about the salamander hadn’t been a problem telling about. The story was innocuous enough it wasn’t a big deal. As he joked she smiled softly and fiddled with the owl faced locket that was always around her neck. She never went anywhere without it. “A lot of people would have to agree with you then go around complaining about writing a paper. Honestly, people are so lazy at times, it’s almost sad.” She laughed softly, figuring he’d understand what she was talking about.
She blinked and looked up as he suddenly moved and she nodded at his words. “but, maybe I'll see you in the common room later today?” Lena stood up as well, finished with breakfast anyway, and gave him another smile. “I’ll be in the common room on a chair near the fire probably if you need me or something.” She brushed her skirt back into place and her smile widened. “God speed, Sir Remus,” she said playfully, hoping to make him smile before he had to leave and get to work. He did have quite a bit to do after all.
Lena left him and they went in separate directions, her heading straight to Gryffindor tower. As soon as the Fat Lady allowed her to pass she headed to her dorm, grabbed the book she’d been wanting to read, and came back down into the commons. She picked a chair near the fire and sat down, curling her legs under her body and started to read. And thats where she stayed, until hours later, occasionally shifting to get comfortable again.

Lena seemed to have a decent head on her shoulders. Not that Remus had doubted that before in any way, but her comment about not needing Sirius to be after her confirmed that. It wasn't that he thought that all the girls that were after Sirius were stupid, Remus would never prejudice people like that, but he couldn't ignore that the girls Sirius 'got together with' were usually not the brightest lumos in the wandshop, so to speak. Besides, it was probably good for Sirius to be refused something every once in a while, deflate his ego a little, etc.
He could see Lena was a little surprised that he was leaving so quickly, but he had pretty much ran out of things to say, and he had a lot of work to do, really.. Remus had a hunch she'd understand it wasn't personal.. right? “I’ll be in the common room on a chair near the fire probably if you need me or something.” Remus smiled and nodded, running a hand through his hair briefly as he checked the clock in the Great Hall and nodding slightly to himself, thinking about how long it would probably take him before he was back at the common room. “God speed, Sir Remus.” He laughed softly. "For a lady, I'll do my best." He waved at her slightly and exited the hall, going for the library.
Remus didn't return to the common room for a few hours, really. He had tackled the Care of Magical Creatures essay first, as that was the one he was least in the mood for. As he had feared, he'd found rather a lot of books mentioning the Ashwinder, but a lot of the books only repeated the same information over and over again and Remus wondered if he had, perhaps, chosen a wrong animal. It only lived so shortly, after all, he could only say so much about habitat or other habits. Merlin, the creature hardly had any time to have any habits at all! Eventually, however, he'd found a very useful book, although it had taken him quite some time to find it. He had copied all the relevant information along with the source and page numbers before moving onto the potions essay. This was a less difficult essay, as Remus generally understood the theory of potions, but had problems with the practical execution. He could follow the book to the letter and it would usually be correct, but sometimes ingredients would fluctuate in quality and that was what got to him. The essays usually made up for his mistakes, though, and this one was no exception. Remus knew exactly which books he needed, found information ready at hand, and spend about a third of the time his Care of Magical Creatures research had cost him. After putting the books back in place, he gathered his notes and walked back to the common room. Normally, he probably wouldn't have, simply because there might have been a chance of Sirius or anyone distracting him which would mean no sleeping in next morning, but he had sort of promised Lena, hadn't he?
He found her in the chair he'd expected her to sit. Also, to his relief, Remus found that the rug in front of the fire was still empty. He dropped his bag a little carelessly (he knew at what point his ink well would break and it wouldn't just yet, but his papers might end up a bit folded) and smiled at Lena slightly. "Afternoon. Enjoyed yourself so far?" He sat down on the floor. Remus liked working either at huge tables where he could put all of his papers, or on the floor, where there was also enough room. The rug in front of the fireplace was his favourite spot - he liked the warmth.

Outfit: clickWord Count: 370 Lena had completely understood his need to go do his work so he could have that day off he’d mentioned to her. She wasn’t bothered by it and had just been relaxing with her book. It was one of her favorites and it had come out only a few years ago. It was obvious she read the book a lot from the wear and tear on its bindings. The book was not amazingly large but Lena liked to take her time reading when she was relaxing. Normally she could read phenomenally fast but not when it was reading for pleasure. The book held in her small gentle hands was The Crystal Cave by Mary Stewart. The story was about Merlin and his early life and adventures. The beginnings of the Arthurian legend. It came out in 1970. The year before she started Hogwarts. It always amused her that she was reading about Merlin as muggle fiction before going to a magical school where he was real.
Her legs had continued to stay tucked under her even though she would shift sometimes to get comfortable again. The chair she was in, the middle one right before the fire, was her favorite. She got cold really easily some days so it paid off to be the one getting the most heat from the fire. The only thing about her appearance that had changed since breakfast as that she had tugged her hair up into a ponytail to keep it out of her way as she read.
Lena looked up when she heard a thump before her. She hadn’t noticed the person until they’d sat their bag down. When she saw Remus she smiled brightly at him for having actually come over near her. She didn’t know if he would or not, honestly. “Afternoon to you too. Yes I have. No signs of Sirius anywhere. It’s been a blissful day so far.” She nodded at the bag of his while he sat down on the plush rug in front of her. “And you? How did the papers go?”

[Hah! Chance would have it that I have Stewart's 'The Wicked Day' (translated to Dutch, unfortunately) on my shelf! Plus, I love it that you found a 'contemporary' book for her to read! *bounces* And sorry it's terribly short, Remus is not working along because I embarrassed him in front of his crush ]He smiled at her slightly when she looked up, sitting on the floor cross legged already. Remus had to admit her rather bright smile surprised him, he hadn't expected her to be glad to see him, really. He felt a little flattered. “Afternoon to you too. Yes I have. No signs of Sirius anywhere. It’s been a blissful day so far.” He laughed softly. "Very imaginable." He stretched a little, feeling a little stiff sitting and reading in the library for hours. Sometimes, Remus wondered if other teenagers felt as old as he did. "Oh, I've gathered all the information I need, I figured I'd finish writing the essays here - I had sort of promised you, after all." Remus tilted his head a little to read her book's title and smiled. He'd heard of it, but never read it. It wasn't in the library here and although he'd seen it in bookshops on occasion, that had always been occasions when other supplies had been more important. "Is it as good as they say? Eh- the book, I mean?" He leaned back on his arms, essays temporarily forgotten.
