To depths unknown:

Be who they want to see:
Always overlooked, Peter has never taken much pride in his appearance. Always having been a short, squat boy in comparison to his peers, he's eventually starting to go into his growth spurts, though no matter how much he wishes, he's still short and his face is still that baby shape round that girls find 'adorable' but not attractive, because who could ever find him attractive when he's surrounded by two handsome pure bloods, heck, even Remus was more attractive than him and got more attention from girls, after all, Remus had brains, Peter did not.
A round face, small, beady little brown eyes, a mop of blonde-ish brown-ish hair and thin lips leaves Peter undesired. His body shape is still over weight, but not as much as it had been when he was younger. Befriending the marauders meant that he did a lot of running around and getting involved in pranks. Peter has a pointy little nose and is learning to become an animagus.
As a rat, Peter has mousey brown hair, a bit on the light side. His transformations aren't complete yet, but as he is a slow learner, he's advancing quite well. Maybe another year or two before he fully gets the transformation's perfect, but he's determined to become his rat self at one point or another.
Wearing scruffy clothes, Peter never thinks on what his clothes say about him. Every now and then, Sirius will tell him off for wearing something stupid and make him change and sometimes, Peter will purposely wear something Sirius doesn't like, just for the attention. Peter likes attention because he doesn't get it often because he looks like the type of person everyone over looks. And he is.
But that leaves no one:
To discover that inside:
Peter is a shy type of boy. He's slow and some people might call him 'dim witted' but truth is, he's smart enough to look after himself. Not with spells and such, but by befriending the strong people that will protect him against bullies and at the moment, that just so happens to be Sirius, James and Remus, though Peter is secretly prejudice against Remus' condition, but he doesn't show it. Having a werewolf to protect you is pretty intense.
Being the youngest of three children, and being the only boy, at home Peter is molly-coddled by his eldest sister and his mother. His father expects him to always do better while his youngest sister, who is still older than him, teases him relentlessly, even having gone so far as to stick his wand down the toilet and other harsh things.
Growing up with one sister bullying him and the other trying to protect him, made Peter fearful. He'd be picked on by one sibling, so he would run as fast as his stubby legs could take him, to his other sister for protection. Even through Hogwarts, his needed to be protected, has not changed.
Never really excelling in anything, Peter has developed a low self confidence. His friends are all so great at school and picking up girls that he sometimes feels left behind. He's easy to anger over such small things like this, but he hides it well, after all, he does not want his protectors to turn on him, because then who would he have?
Peter, despite knowing what it feels like to be bullied, is a bully. He always picks on students weaker than himself. Mainly first and second years, and he never bullies anyone older than that unless the marauders are near by to protect him or standing right over his shoulder, encouraging him. Usually this means he only ever picks on Severus Snape.
Being a less than average student, Peter is easily distracted.Try as he might to concentrate in his study sessions with Remus near the exams, he can't. His attention wavers and then is stolen by something more interesting. Merlin! Watching grass grow or paint dry was more interesting to peter than studying.
This soulless being:
James and Sirius
Smelling things
Cheese
Lily Evans
Feeling strong
Is just as lost:
Remus and his condition
Not being as smart as his friends
Being over looked
Being pushed around by Sirius or anyone
Being alone
As everyone else:
Being invisible while still being visible
Bullying younger students
Making people feel sorry for him
Deciphering smells
Finding out gossip
In a world that knows only hate:
Not athletic
Not popular
Not talented
Not strong
Quick to temper
And causes pain for the soulless like me:
Dislikes Remus and his condition
Fancies Lily Evans
They left me to die:
2 Aunts, both married, each with 2 children
On a bed of roses:
None
Blood seeping through:
Peter's mother is a squib
The satin sheets of fame:
Getting by
What a bitter story of love:
Born the third child after twins, Peter Mortimer Pettigrew was the only son for Allan and Dorothy Pettigrew. He was coddled by his mother and eldest sister, while his father didn't really care much about any of his children, and his other sister used to tease him. Something he hated and feared even though there was never really any physical violence, just mockery and demeaning language.
Peter grew up always running to his eldest sister for protection and luckily for him, because his sisters were twins, he was never left home alone with the one that picked on him. No, when they went off to Hogwarts, he had no sisters to worry about and was pampered by his mummy, he spoilt even though they didn't really have enough money to spoil him, his mummy always made him the exception.
Used to being treated well by his mummy and protected by his older sister, Peter never really learnt to defend himself. He was scared to go to Hogwarts because he knew he would be walked all over, but on the train, he saw a group of boys arguing. When it came to the Sorting Hat, he knew what house he wanted to be in. He wanted to be in the house with Sirius Black and Remus Lupin. He was sure the other boy that had been with them would be sorted into Gryffindor too, so when the hat was placed on his head, Peter was begging to be in Gryffindor, not Hufflepuff or Slytherin. The sorting hat granted Peter his wish and soon after he was sorted, James joined him and he became a friend of the boys he'd seen on the train.
Much like home life, Peter found himself running into a little bit of trouble every now and then with other students wanting to bully him, but much like home, he never had to fight, instead, he ran and he hid behind the most talented and popular boys in his year, James, Sirius and Remus. They would protect him no matter what, they'd used to tease him themselves, but only in the way that friends did because the liked him and he'd make them smile when he did something stupid like try and go up the girls dorms to steal some panties, only to have the stairs turned into a slide, or his habit of putting his foot into the sinking stair. He always forgot to jump it. He had a terrible memory and it was a surprise to him that he wasn't a squib like his mum.
Eventually, the Marauders became well known and Peter was included in that group. People knew Peter's name, but still he was over looked because he was always out shined by Remus, Sirius and James. Lily Evans however, noticed him. She'd talk to him from time to time and she would stand up for him. That sort of obsession made Peter think he was in love with her, only there was a problem for him. Everyone seemed to love Lily Evans. She hung around that slimy Snivellus guy and Peter's own friend, James Potter, loved her and was obsessed with getting her to go out with him. Peter could barely talk to the girl without flushing bright red, but James had the sort of confidence Peter could never have, and so he knew he stood no chance and he just quietly watched Lily from a distance, sort of becoming a secret stalker.
When James and Sirius figured out Remus was a werewolf, they of course told Peter and Peter, before he reacted, had been judging their faces. He did not act the way he felt, he did not act disgusted or scared, instead, he followed James and Sirius' lead and acted like it was all well and good, however, deep down, Peter wouldn't have cared if Remus was killed, but because Remus was still smart and knew a lot of spells, Peter still believed that Remus would protect him, so would not turn on him, or at least not while they were in the confounds of Hogwarts.
Now in his fifth year, Peter is slowly learning to become an animagus. James and Sirius had learnt already, and they would all try and help him, but he still hadn't got it, he'd stay in on nights of the full moon while his friends had fun. It bothers him a lot that he's alone and has no one to protect him, but usually, being the rat that he is, he hides up in his dorm, under his bed until dawn, just so he can avoid any trouble while he has no one to protect him. Being weak physically and mentally, Peter knows he wouldn't get through Hogwarts if it weren't for his friends and so he depends heavily upon them.
Peter was sat in the library, tapping his quill. He had to do some homework and Remus had been watching him. However, Remus had finished and left, and Peter was still stuck on what to do. He used his big hand writing and was still six inches sort, but rather than finish it, the fifth year lion rolled the parchment up, put everything he had out away, and slipped out of the library, hoping to come across James or Sirius or even Remus or Lily. Peter hated being on his own and he hated that Remus had gone without him. It was like Remus didn't like Peter, but that was okay, because Peter didn't like Remus, but he pretended to so that he could still be friends with Sirius and James.
Deciding that James and Sirius would either be in the great hall or the common room, Peter headed back to the Gryffindor Common room to find his closest friends. He idolised James, followed him everywhere and tried to be like him, and he thought Sirius was pretty cool too. Sirius picked on him from time to time, but that was what friends did, that was what made Peter know that he was still their friend because they would laugh with him and not at him and they would protect him all the time too which was good because Peter knew he could not protect himself.
Taking a walk down some stairs, Peter, once again, was not concentrating on what it was he was doing. He put his foot straight through the step that was not solid, only an illusion of being a step and fell forward. He screamed at the top of his lungs and struggled against the step. Where were James and Sirius when you needed them? He'd even take Remus if it meant getting out of this.
Throwing his bag down the stairs and grabbing the step in front of him, Peter used his weedy arms to pull himself out of the sinking stairs grasp. He fell forward and tumbled down the stairs, knocking his book bag as it tumbled down after him. eventually the ball that was Peter Pettigrew stopped and he looked about. There was no one around and so he knew that he could tell people he had been in a fight. After all, he lied about that sort of thing every now and then. He was a clumsy guy but he didn't want his friends thinking he was weak or else they wouldn't be his friends.
Bending down to pick up his book bag, Peter saw the ink leaking out of it. He'd broken the ink jar and now everything in there was going to be ruined. He wished Lily or Remus was here. They would know how to tidy it all up and they'd look after him.
