Charlie went up to the owlery to visit his owl and send a letter to his older brother, Arthur. He had to tell his brother about what was going on. His infatuation with Lucius was a bit much for him to handle, and his brother would straighten him out, no pun intended. Lucius and Arthur hated each other and Arthur would tell him all of the awful things about Lucius and then his infatuation with Lucius would be diminished, at least he hoped.
He had worn a maroon jumper that his mother had knit him with a lion on the front, along with a pair of trousers and some converse. He had the note in his hand and he was looking for his owl, Cedric. His brother named it. If he had named it, it would have been something dumb like feathers or Charlie Jr. Of course, now there was a little Charlie, his nephew, so his owl named Charlie would have been too many charlie's.
He sat up in the owlery, trying to determine if he actually wanted to send the letter. If he did, he was basically admitting to his family that he was not straight, which was a big thing. But he needed advice and he wasn't sure who to turn to. He didn't know anyone who felt like this, especially at school. There wasn't anyone who was admitting their feelings for someone of the same gender; it was like outcasting himself to do so.
