Silvanus was torn between helping the newborn, the male Thestral which was tied up on the ground, and Sirius, who was still bleeding profusely. He knew it was his duty to care for Sirius, but at the same time things could go horribly wrong with the other two if he didn't do something about it. He wasn't even going to pretend to himself that he hadn't heard Lena tell him to not get hurt. There was honestly too much going on in Silvanus' head. Why would she care if he got hurt? After all, she did quite clearly resent him. However, he knew it might just be Gryffindor loyalty and bravery or whatever. He felt like he was sixteen again. All these conflicting thoughts belonged to a teenager, not to a nearly-middle-aged man.
Silvanus didn't respond to Lena for several moments. If there was any definition of a clusterfuck, this would be it. He took in a couple of deep breaths.
"I'm going to take Black up to the hospital wing, he's bleeding rather profusely," Silvanus said clearly. He showed no sign of being completely stressed. He looked at the tied up Thestral and then proceeded to put a rope around the animals neck and tie it to the base of the tree. He then waved his wand and got rid of the remaining ropes around its legs. That way, it was forced to stay in one place while not having to freeze on the ground and be stressed. He knew it was probably not top priority, but he knew he'd just worry about it if he didn't. "The baby can wait until after I bring Black up. This detention is over."
Silvanus then produced a floating stretcher and put Sirius on it. He looked down at the boy and couldn't help but cringe somewhat. He barely looked recognizable. His nose was clearly extremely broken, and he already produced a pair of black eyes. His lips were very swollen, and his bottom one had burst. He had no idea what Sirius would look like if Muggles had to fix him. Luckily, he was sure Sirius would return back to his post-trauma glory.
He did not tell Lena that she could follow, but assumed that she would do so anyways. Sirius was, after all, probably one of her closest friends as far as he could tell. Silvanus limped along, as he had a hard time moving without his abdomen aching. He no doubt had a broken rib or two, but would worry about it after he got the students there. He could live with a couple of broken ribs for a bit, but he didn't think that Sirius would survive too much blood loss.
By the time they got up the hospital wing, Silvanus looked extremely pale. Every step shot a shooting pain up him. Sirius looked as white as a ghost. When the three of them got through the door, Madam Pomfrey looked up only for a moment before gasping and rushing over to them.
"The boy got kicked in the face and headbutted in the chest by a Thestral," Silvanus explained as he collapsed into a chair and held his side. "Detention," he added at her curious glance.
"Yes, because Thestrals are obviously something students should be dealing with in the dead of night," Madam Pomfrey murmured sarcastically as she got Sirius into a hospital bed.
Silvanus didn't watch as Pomfrey did her work. Instead, he stared at the floor in a defeated fashion. He waited until the Healer tucked Sirius in, meaning that she was finished, and then turned to him and asked what was wrong. Pomfrey waved her wand and gave Silvanus something nasty to drink and told him he was free to leave. Silvanus walked past Lena and said, "You still have one detention. You'll serve it Thursday evening in my office," without meeting her eye before going to walk out of the room.
