What can be found in a name:
Selphy Rosetta Moore
When the day I was born:
DOB 24/03/1960
The Angels screamed:
Raguna Moore, father.
Euncie Moore, mother.
And Hell shut its doors:
A deaf, pure white cat named Morgan.
While creatures retreated:
Pureblood.
To depths unknown:
Gryffindor.
I hide from them:
Selphy usually doesn't mind going most anywhere, though generally you can find her outdoors when the weather is nice. Actually, you can most likely find her there even when the weather is bad, too. She feels as if a change of scenery can do a lot of good every once in a while. Be it by the lake, the Quidditch Pitch or the common room, Hogwarts has many locations in which she enjoys to be.
Be who they want to see:
Selphy stands at approximately 5'5. She has long, natural brown hair that sweeps down just above her hazel eyes. She weighs about 130 pounds, a bit of curves added to her figure since fourth year.
But that leaves no one:
To discover that inside:
When it comes down to it, you can say that Selphy has a bit of a "wing it" personality. She's not very good at planning things out. Even if she did plan, it never usually turned out that way, so she just sort of gave up on that sort of thing. Well, it SOUNDS like a good idea... at the time, anyway. So why not go for it? Hopefully it's not too late for her, and with age comes thoughts of possible consequences of her actions beforehand.
A sense of humor is important to Selphy, but not as important as the friends in which she enjoys one with. She feels a bit awkward when she's by herself, so she always tries to make an attempt to start a conversation, be it trivial or not, as long as the person looked seemingly approachable (seemingly being the key word here). She makes an honest attempt at being honest with everyone, though some of the time she comes off as being rather blunt, which can be a good or bad quality depending on which way you look at it.
Selphy has a pretty good memory. Not necessarily when it comes to book work, but if an action taken by someone sticks with her, it permanently becomes a part of the way she views a person. You could say that she forgives, but never forgets.
This soulless being:
Defense Against The Dark Arts
Mornings
Inside jokes
Laughing fits
Lockets
Is just as lost:
Ignorance
Pointless drama / cruelty.
Being told that "it's too late."
Excessive homework
Mind games
As everyone else:
Not sweating the little things
A fairly high self-esteem
A drive to prove her point when she knows that she's right
An ability to be honest. (Most of the time.)
A strong sense of loyalty.
In a world that knows only hate:
Speaking or acting without thinking it through.
A lacking focus in things that she isn't too interested in.
Offended a bit too easily
Being a push-over without even noticing.
Having two left feet. (not literally of course, but you get the picture.)
And causes pain for the soulless like me:
When asked her opinion, Selphy will go on and on about how people should never be judged by such a thing as their family's reputation or looks. This being said, she secretely does so all the time, no matter how much her parents have told her not to. If she's looking at books, she can't help but judge them by the cover, and it's the same with people. To some it wouldn't seem like such a big deal, but Selphy is endlessly ashamed.
Another secret is that Selphy told her parents that she got sorted into Ravenclaw when she's actually a Gryffindor. She knows of course that lying was wrong, but she couldn't help but feel as if it were worth it as she could feel the happiness emitting from both of them due to the fact that both of them had been Ravenclaws. She would most likely go to ridiculous heights to keep this secret.
They left me to die:
Euncie Moore (mother)
Mist Harvard (aunt)
Erik Harvard (uncle)
Marco Harvard (grandfather)
Amity Harvard (grandmother)
On a bed of roses:
Raguna Moore (father)
Rosetta Moore (grandmother)
Kross Moore (grandfather)
Blood seeping through:
While many other families took a bit of a disgusted view on all things muggle, the Moore family was rather fascinated with it. Selphy never really understood it, or even why they were all so secretive about it, but she never really paid any mind to it.
Selphy's mother has cheated on her father many times. Euncie had confided in her daughter to not reveal this fact to her father due to the fact that she believed it would tear the family apart. Any time the young Gryffindor spares a glance at her father, a tune of guilt rings through her.
The satin sheets of fame:
Well-off.
What a bitter story of love:
Young love can be the start of so many different things. When Raguna Moore and Euncie Moore first met, the last thing on their minds was the future. That is, until the unmarried couple discovered that they would now share something that would determine the rest of their lives- a daughter. After her birth, their relationship withstood and a cozy little family was created with a cozy little home.
Being an only child, much of the family life was focused on Selphy in her earlier years. They encouraged her greatly in everything she did and steered her clear of what they saw as bad choices. One disadvantage of this was the fact that she never got to make very many mistakes on her own until she was a bit older. Once her parents saw that she was now perfectly capable of taking care of herself, as time raised the level of her maturity, the couple pursued the things that they never got to experience after having a child in their early twenties. However, she was by no means neglected; she spent most of this time with her other relatives, such as her grandparents on either side of the family who were more than happy to take her in for a summer or two. Her parents traveled to many parts of the world, bringing back their daughter many souvenirs and even teaching her the new found knowledge that came with a whole different way of life. Her father tried to teach her German, but her lack of focus made it rather difficult.
Selphy's parents had always dreamed about what kind of student their daughter would be in Hogwarts. They had a strong belief that Ravenclaw was a good way to go- not cruel like any Slytherin, flighty as any Hufflepuff, or boastful as any Gryffindor. The family seldom had any conflict, but Selphy couldn't help but strongly disagree. You could put a stereotype to anything if you really wanted, so if they wanted to be fair, Ravenclaw could really be called the know-it-alls, right? Honestly, Selphy didn't care about any of it. She would be content with most anything as long as it wasn't Slytherin, though she had a certain preference for Gryffindor from what she had heard of it.
Not having the heart to tell them of her sorting, she blurted out that she had been put into Ravenclaw as they had hoped. She has no clue to how she's done it, but she's up to her fifth year and she has yet to be discovered. She sends her parents mail regularly so they won't worry, or so they'll have a letter or two waiting when they come home from whatever kind of adventure they're on.
"You know, people are just so interesting sometimes. Crazy, isn't it?" Selphy mused aloud, glancing over at the random Hufflepuff sitting next to her. She looked to be in her second year, but who knows? She was pretty bad at determining these kinds of things off the top of her head. The girl raised her eyebrow, and Selphy turned back to look straight ahead, un-phased by the fact that this girl most likely believed that she was crazy now. Oh well. You can't be a winner in everyone's eyes, so you might as well not try too awfully hard.
She herself didn't think that her comment was all that crazy. It was interesting to compare the differences between anyone and everyone. Some talked this way, some walked this way... To her, a laugh was the most unique thing a person could have. Never in her life had she heard the same laugh twice, and she liked it that way. You always hear people talk about how boring the world would be if everyone were the same, and it was definitely one of the few truths in the world, for Selphy at least. Although differences have mostly fueled her reasons for butting heads with certain other people, they just say that it makes things interesting , not necessarily pleasant , right? There's a pretty big difference between the two.
If nothing else, all of this made her wonder how other people saw her. Especially people who were people watching. What made her so visually different from everyone else? She knew there were a lot of things of course, but which was the most obvious? She might as well let it go. No use in wondering about something you'll probably never figure out. Unless maybe if you're a Ravenclaw. Pulling the strap of her bag back over her shoulder, Selphy stood up and wondered who out of the crowd of people would make interesting conversation. She could already scratch one Hufflepuff off the list.
