What can be found in a name:
Veronica Elizabeth Nott
When the day I was born:
09/August/1959
The Angels screamed:
Parents, Chandler & Morgana Nott, Siblings, Laszlo Adrian Nott & ____ ____ Nott.
And Hell shut its doors:
Jetson – A Grey owl.
While creatures retreated:
Pureblood
To depths unknown:
Slytherin, 6th Year.
I hide from them:
Library, The Black Lake, Abandoned Class Rooms, Moaning Myrtles Bathroom, Quidditch Pitch
Be who they want to see:
Veronica likes to think of herself as absolutely gorgeous, and why should she not? Her hair, which she simply adores, is a medium brown multi-highlight work of art. It falls just below her shoulders in soft natural waves, to her it’s her best feature. Veronica can’t be bothered to spend hours on her appearance so she usually does her hair by wand, with a few spells she learned from Witch Weekly, of course. Her makeup is usually light with a clear or tinted color lip gloss, eyeliner and mascara used to bring out her clear blue eyes. Her worst feature, if you’d ask her, would be her eyes. Not because they’re ugly, no they’re beautiful and had been her favorite feature as a child. Truth was, after all that had happened she couldn’t stand to look herself in the eyes – it was too much for her. She embraced her outside beauty with no problems, but inwardly… was a different story.
Her build is naturally slender and petite, and has been that way since she was a child. Veronica is in shape and stays that way by going for runs around the Quidditch Pitch every once in a while. She weighs roughly around 110 pounds and stands at 5 feet and 6 inches.
While at Hogwarts she wears the standard uniform, with a few minor adjustments (i.e. the skirt, way too long and doesn’t show off her legs, so she shortens it) or something some what, but not really, casual, but she always must look her best as she has a reputation to uphold. While at home, she usually dresses up, as it is required. Veronica also has a nose piercing that she gotten over the winter holidays, her parents were not, and still aren’t, pleased.
But that leaves no one:
To discover that inside:
Veronica’s main characteristic is sarcasm. She’s also kind of cold at times, but is friendly, to the right people, as well. Veronica loves to go against what is expected of her. She doesn’t like to be typical, or anywhere in the ‘ordinary’ category. She also loves to be the center of attention and the person talked about or on everybody’s mind, she usually shows out just for attention. She is known a bit as a wild child; she loves partying, flirting and even enjoys snogging random (pureblooded) guys whom she just met. But just because she is a bit wild and flirtatious, doesn’t mean she doesn’t have her priorities straight.
Sometimes she may come off as cold and uncaring, but Veronica is always ready to open up to those closest to her. She is rather trusting, which she has been told is something she shouldn’t be because it will come back in bite her in the arse. She happens to be easily influenced, which causes her to be internally conflicted because she doesn’t know whether she should go with what other people say/do, or if she should do her own thing. In most situations she goes with what other purebloods are doing, only doing what she wants away from the group when it will not cause her actions or alliances to be questioned. However, on her own free will, Veronica embraces the pureblood lifestyle and thinks of herself as better than everyone with a lower blood status, or not as much money as her family.
Veronica can get annoyed and pissed off very easily, something she inherited from her father. She usually tries not to let her anger control her or lead her to make rash decisions, but that is better said than done. When things are not going right for her, Veronica usually gets depressed quickly and pessimistic.
Sometimes she can be hard on herself, as she is a bit of a perfectionist. She has to do things right, and if not, she will do it over again until it is as she wishes it to be. Veronica likes to get top marks, and go to a quiet place (usually the library or somewhere she can be alone) to study or think when she has too much on her mind. She loves to spend time with her siblings and her best friends.
Veronica is a bit stubborn and she likes to get her way. She will not stop until she gets what she wants, and if that doesn’t happen she will plot your death (kidding…maybe.). Once she makes up her mind about something there’s no changing it. Also if she says she’ll do something, but is told she can’t do it or it’s met with some potentially dangerous risks, she’ll do it anyways just because she said she would. This soulless being:
Sarcasm & Learning &
Being Beautiful & Purebloods &
Potions & Dark Arts &
Jokes & Apple Juice &
Quidditch & Flying &
Partying & Random Snogging &
Being the Center of Attention & Getting Her Way.
Is just as lost:
Liars & Gryffindors &
Mudbloods & Chocolate &
Fake People & Divination &
Early Mornings & House Elves &
Emotional People & Menstrual Cycles &
Being Wrong & Embarrassing Moments. As everyone else:
Somewhat Logical & Intelligent &
Dark Arts & Potions &
Dueling & Her Confidence.
In a world that knows only hate:
Her Jealousy & Easily Influenced &
Her Curiosity & Her Temper &
Handsome Guys & Her idea of perfection.
And causes pain for the soulless like me:
1. Veronica is secretly jealous of her little sister, so much so, that she resents her a little bit, and doesn’t want to be around her much.
2. The Sorting Hat wanted to put Veronica in Ravenclaw, but she pled with it to be in Slytherin, because she wanted to please her parents.
They left me to die:
Mostly Pureblood, with a few distant relatives who’re not.
On a bed of roses:
Pureblood, of course.
Blood seeping through:
The love that her father has for her, runs deeper than what most people think.
The satin sheets of fame:
Rich
What a bitter story of love:
From the moment she came into the world, Veronica had stolen her parent’s hearts. With her mess of brown hair, and her innocent blue eyes, she had somehow convinced her typically coldhearted parents that she could do no wrong. The first year of her life, Veronica was pretty much dotted on, and her parents answered to her every beck and call. Not too long after she was born, her parents had conceived another child, and nine months later, Veronica got a little sister.
Before she could remember, Veronica always felt some sort of negativity towards her sister. When she was five, she knew exactly what it was, jealousy. She was jealous of the comments her sister had gotten about how beautiful she was, and she feared that her sister was more beautiful and special than she was. That’s what had made her want to be the perfect daughter for her parents, she had to be more beautiful, more intelligent, and she had to make them more proud than her sister.
Growing up in the Nott house, everything was pretty much strict. Her parents had thoughts and beliefs about how people should live and act that they wasted no time in passing those onto their children. Veronica watched as her father began to teach her older brother, who she adores, spells and anything less than perfection became intolerable. Veronica didn’t really think much of it at that point, she just figured her father was hard on him because he was a boy. It was when she was nine years old that her father had gotten her a wand and began to teach her spells as well, but only more gentle and patient than he did with her brother.
When she was ten, her brother had gone off to Hogwarts, and Veronica wished that she could go with him, however as time went on that wish turned from a childlike dream to a very real need. It started with a present. Normally her favorite thing, this time tainted in a way that she could have never imagine.
Veronica had been sitting in front of the white coral vanity in her room brushing her hair 150 times, just as her Mother dictated a proper lady should to get just the right shine. Her mother was not there to help her because she had gone to one of her usual spa retreats for the weakened. Her Father had wanted a formal dinner, which seemed odd to Veronica since Mother was away, her brother was at school and her sister was at her best friend Jenny’s house for a birthday sleepover. She didn’t understand why this time Father had suggested a formal dinner since it was only them, which was the way things usually were and didn’t normally call for formal attire.
However, she just assumed that Father had some type of surprise planned, a suspicion that was confirmed a moment later when a knock came from her door. As soon as Veronica turned to her father and smiled with a greeting she noticed the pretty pink box with the big bow in his hand and her face lit up. Father always brought her the best gifts!
Father entered and sat on her bed, asking her to sit next to him with a soft smile and a light pat of her fluffy duvet, Veronica instantly complied, bounding from her princess chair, moving the dress aside and happily next to her Father.
Once she was settled Chandler had handed the present over to his daughter and she opened the box with a grin, pulling out the pretty pink nightgown inside with a bright smile. However before she could thank her Father for the lovely gift, Chandler quickly spoke.
“Do you love me?” he asked in the same gentle tone he always used with her, the one so different from the way he spoke to both her brother and her sister.
“More than the moon and stars” Veronica responded instantly with her usual heartfelt answer as the silk material of the gown slid between her small fingers.
After a moment of silence her father spoke once more, his voice the same, but somehow different from his usual tone. Her large eyes snapped to his face, as her attention was immediately snared.
“Mummy had been neglecting me as of late, I need your help…”
Veronica frowned, how mean of Mommy to do that. She wasn’t 100% sure what neglect was, but the way Father said it had to be bad. “I’m sorry Daddy,” she offered with a light pat of her smaller hand atop his larger one.
“It’s not your fault Roni,” her Father replied. “But I need you to do something for me…” He trailed off, only continuing at her encouraging smile. “That’s my princess, Daddy needs you to do what Mommy won’t Roni. Daddy needs you to show him how much you love him.”
Young and naive, Veronica easily agreed, she didn’t like her father to be sad and upset . Unfortunately, she didn’t know what she had agreed to, and her once innocent blue eyes, were eternally darkened. Things were never the same for her again.
Veronica was not only relived, but ecstatic when she had finally gotten her Hogwarts letter; it had felt like she had been waiting for that very moment for most of her young life. As soon as she gotten her books from Diagon Alley she had already began to get lost in them, devouring the knowledge that they held. Her feelings had turned from being ecstatic to nervous on her first train ride. She had sat with her brother and a few other Slytherins in their compartment, hoping that she would get into the same house as her brother. She knew that would make her parents proud, as she remembered how they were after the found out Adrian had been sorted into Slytherin. When her name was called, she tried to put on a brave face, but failed miserably once the hat was on her head. He had wanted to place her into Ravenclaw, saying that she was bright and clever. But, no, she had begged. She wanted, no needed, to be in Slytherin. And to her relief, the hat had agreed to let her into the house that her parents had been in years before she had. Her parents were proud of her,
First year had gone by so fast that by time summer holidays had come; Veronica did not want to leave the castle that had become like a home to her, since her real home had become tainted awhile ago. She had remained top marks in all her classes, making sure that she studied extra hard at the classes that she would have a slight problem with. When second year finally came she was so excited and relived to go back to school, and this year her sister was coming. She didn’t know whether it was a blessing or a curse, she didn’t want anyone to think her sister was better than her in anyway. Veronica could tell you the exact feeling she had gotten when the sorting hat yelled Ravenclaw after her sister was sorted, it was one of complete annoyance. Could her sister in any way be smart than her? She remembered glaring at her sister all through the feast that night, she could’ve been the Ravenclaw last year, but she wasn’t, and the fact that her sister was pissed her off.
Veronica had never been more fearful when her father had disowned her brother in her fourth year. Apparently Chandler wasn’t Adrian’s biggest fan, and thought that his son wasn’t good enough or whatever. That had been a horrible day, not because she felt bad for her brother, but because of a more selfish reason, what it would be like once holidays came or summer holiday. She would be home without her protector, she could not fathom being left in the house with just her dad. But that summer, she was because her brother had spent it with their maternal grandparents. So she spent her summer trying her hardest not to be home and going out to various parties with her friends. She had become a bit wild from her usual bookworm self, and she couldn’t help but to admit that she liked it.
Once fifth year came, Veronica had thrown herself into her studies, spending less and less time with her friends. It was O.W.L year and she had to do her absolute best, she wouldn’t settle for less than an EE on anything. But still, she had begun to miss partying like she had done the past summer. She had gotten a bit more confident, and developed a need for attention from the male population at school. Veronica had began to sex herself up, to make sure that guys would look her way, and once they did, the nights of studying had stopped. It was now replaced with nights of snogging in broom closest and sneaking around the castle with various boys. Her grades had dropped down a little bit, but nothing that significant.
The summer before sixth year, had been the same like the past summer. She was more intone with who she was as a person, and instead of staying at her friends houses, it was random guys she didn’t even know who had used her for a shag, but to be fair, she had used them for the same. The first time, she thought she would feel dirty, but she didn’t. She felt just like she did every other normal day of the year, shameful. It was a feeling that she knew would probably never leave her. But what did that matter now? The light had already gone out in her eyes a while ago. She hadn’t looked herself directly in the eyes in years…so why should this feeling be any different? It’s not, she had since reasoned with herself.
Veronica had gotten her OWL results, a few weeks before the end of the summer, and to say she was disappointed was an understatement. Sure, in all her favorite classes she had gotten Os, but there were quite a few where she had gotten EEs. She felt disappointed, she felt like she was a disappointment. Her parents had noticed it, and told her that it was okay, and that she still did really well. She knew that they meant, you’ve done really well, but not well enough. The rest of the summer was spent just like the beginning of it was.
She only hoped that her sixth year would be better…
Veronica’s eyes narrowed as she pushed a piece of her normally not so stubborn hair out of her eyes and back behind her right ear. She blinked her blue eyes, trying her hardest to stay awake. It was passed the wee hours of two in the morning, but she had to stay up and study for her Potions class tomorrow. She had overheard the professor talking to someone as she passed his classroom; they were chatting about what he was going to teach to the sixth years tomorrow. As soon as she heard that piece of information she had quickly gone to the common room, and intended to go up to her dorm, but was stopped for a chat. She couldn’t say no as he had come from a wealthy and respected pureblood family, so she had chatted with him, forgetting all about it until he had bid goodbye.
Currently she was sitting Indian style, on her bed in the Slytherin Sixth year dorms. Her curtains were drawn around her bed, and a light illuminating from her wand was tucked behind her left ear. She looked down at the potions book in her lap, the light directed there as she read all the details about it. Apparently, it was the Felix Felicis, she had heard about this potion before, it was basically liquid luck. But she had never actually read the details about it or how it was made.
A yawn escaped her lips; she was tired, having been up since six the previous morning. Her right index finger trailed the words neatly written in the book for what seemed like the umpteenth time that night. She had barely mesmerized what was being said, even though, she had read it over and over. Veronica assumed it was because she was too tired.
“Come on, Veronica, focus!” she muttered to herself, annoyed with how she could barely pay attention or keep her eyes open. A moment later her head was slowly falling back and her eyes closed slightly. She was still in her sitting position. The brunette heard a crash coming from inside the room and jumped. She groaned, knowing that it was probably that girl in her dorm who always used the loo in the middle of the night because she had too much to drink before bed. Veronica groaned and closed the book. She needed to get some much needed beauty sleep, and reasoned that she could study in the morning at breakfast. Veronica grabbed her wand from behind her ear, “nox.” she said effortlessly and placed her book and wand on the table by her bed. As soon as her head hit the pillow, and she snuggled up in her comfortable bed, she fell into a deep slumber.
