Caedyn was sitting in a corner of the library all by himself. There were books spread out all around the tabletop and each of them was open. There were two chairs at the table; one where he was seated and another with a closed book sitting in it. Parchment and a few writing quills were set out on the table with what appeared to be a brand new vial of ink. Caedyn was busy scratching his head as he read the book to the right of him on the table.
"So, this means.." Caedyn thought out loud at first, but then stopped as he looked around at the people in the library. He often caught himself daydreaming about the different applications of geomancy and his ability to harmonize it with normal magic. It had completely taken him from the potions studies he was doing to the single book that dealt with alchemy and various materials. Alchemy had to be the closest art to what his family did, but it was still a far cry from the real deal.
"Oi. Get your head out of day dreaming, Caedyn." He grumbled and shook his head. It had been a while since he had the chance to just sit in the library without distractions. The only thing missing was a really intelligent mind to work with and confide in. There were very few people he thought trustworthy among the students, and even fewer among those trustworthy to be intelligent. People could not be perfect after all. Even those people could still bug him. It was not that he was picky, he just had less tolerance for bigotry and idiocy than most. He would often simply exit a situation if too much was shown. This was a very mature step for him as only a couple of years ago he would have lashed out and ventured to put them in their place. Now he had a little more respect and little more self-control.

The library. Shrine to knowledge, a veritable Mecca for Ravenclaws, it provided a safe haven for ignorant and enlightened alike. It was a meeting place for friends, for enemies, for classmates and rivals, bitter ex-lovers and young puppy love.
It was also completely empty. Well, not completely since there were still a few rims of glasses or tufts of hair poking out from behind books. Severus preferred it like this. When he and Lily could talk and research together with no interruptions. But for now at lrast Severus would be sitting alone. Lily had more duties now as a prefect so he'd have to survi e without the red-head for an hour or so.
He made his way to a table near the Potions section and dropped off his things before wending a lazy path through the shelves, picking up the books he needed.
Practical Brewing by Cassius Telbog was not in its rightful place. This annoyed him firstly because it meant that someone might have taken it out and therefore he couldn't continue his research into variant stirring on blood based potions. The second flash of annoyance came when he looked closer at the book case. The books were jumbled, people had taken a book out, read it and then thrust it in between two books of the same colour. There was even a book of wizarding fiction between two volumes of the Encyclopedia Venenum (where was the third? Probably in the fiction section.)
Drawing his wand, Severus focused on the cover of the book, and summoned it, "Accio Practical Brewing."
Wherever that book was, soon enough it would find its way to his outstretched hand.

Caedyn had lost himself in dreamland again when a book on his table began to stir. Immediately after, it whizzed off into the air at a steady speed and through the library. It left Caedyn just a tad bit confused for a moment before he gathered his things and went after the book that had just been whisked away. Thankfully for him, when it came to running he was one of the best. Running was something he was good at. Dodging people and avoiding the odd table or bookshelf unfortunately was not. It slowed him down considerably, but he was able to catch the general direction of the book and was still heading after it when he nearly bumped into the Slytherin student. His eyes went down immediately and caught the book in his hands. So this was what happened that stirred him from his daydreaming.
"Needed that book for something?" Caedyn asked as he glanced down at the book and then back up at the student. He knew Severus by reputation, but had never really gotten the chance to speak with him or even figure him out. That was a rarity amongst the more intelligent students. "If you need it, I don't mind, but if you wouldn't mind bringing it to me when you're done, that would be great. I've got exams coming up and more knowledge is never going to hurt." He explained, hoping that Severus would understand it.

Severus was just pulling the book out of the air when he heard the pounding of footsteps, only those bloody gryffindors ran in the library. So he Steadied his wand and his black eyes darted from one entrance to this row to the other. Fianlly a student came haring round the corner and nearly smacked into him.
Eying the Ravenclaw critically, he shrugged, only a little sarcasm in his reply. " I regularly summon books I don't need just to see who follows them. No, I need it for some research." Severus nodded slightly, "don't worry, I'll return it. But as a note, You're better off with Ilya J. Wigg's Guide to Brewing Draughts if you mean our OWL exams." Severus certainly knew his Potions textbooks, and the things they'd be tested on in the OWLs were covered far more explicitly and exptensively in Wigg's book

Caedyn had finally found the person who had summoned the book only to discover that he was a total smart-ass. Either way, there was going to be an interesting conversation with this. The next comment came slightly surprised him. He had not expected someone to actually be interested in the oncoming exams. The only difference was that he was not studying for OWLS, but the NEWTS.
"Sorry, I'm not testing for the OWLs, but I'm actually working on the NEWTs. I'm a seventh year student, after all." Caedyn explained, "I've gone back to the basics and have been working my way up. There's no way I'm getting anything but an Outstanding in Potions. I absolutely refuse." He grumbled as he thought about it. Potions were one of his strongest subjects and it bothered him to think that he would get anything but the highest rating possible. He would feel like a failure if he managed to screw it up.
Caedyn let out a deep sigh and then pulled another book from his bag. "Just let me know when you're done with it, okay? I appreciate it." Caedyn gave him a head nod and then headed to a table that was much closer and in sight of Snape. If he left the library, Caedyn would see it and at least know that the hope of getting his book back soon would be very low. Still, there were other things he could read in the mean time.
