What can be found in a name:
Bellatrix Druella Black
When the day I was born:
September 28th, 1957
The Angels screamed:
Cygnus Black and Druella Black (nee Rosier)
Narcissa and Andromeda
And Hell shut its doors:
Black owl, Maleficent
While creatures retreated:
Obviously Pure
To depths unknown:
Slytherin
I hide from them:
The Dungeons at Hogwarts
Her dorm room
The Slytherin Common Room
Her Room at her house
Be who they want to see:
Bellatrix has a commanding appearance. Has dark brown hair, and brown eyes. She is tall and slender, like most of her Black familiars. She has impeccable skin complexion, and isn’t too pasty. Bella’s most distinguishing features are her eyes, because even though they are a normal brown color, they are cold, distant, and cruel. She looks at mud bloods and blood traitors as if they were filth. Just like she had been taught to do.
But that leaves no one:
To discover that inside:
Bellatrix has grown up in a family that believes that blood status is everything, so she believes in Pureblood Supremacy. She believes that purebloods are the most important people, and everyone else is filth. She hates blood traitors, and considers them just as low as muggles and mudbloods. For this reason she doesn’t get along with her sister Andromeda, and her cousin Sirius. In the “Noble and Most Ancient House of Black” the most important things are blood status, and family loyalty, because of this, Bellatrix will do anything to prove her loyalty to her family, and uphold their honor.
One of the people she admires most is Tom Riddle, to the point where she is almost obsessed with him. She wants to join him and other Death Eaters when she finishes her schooling. During the summers, while at home, Bellatrix studies the Dark Arts. Because of this, she has learned Occlumency and Legilimens. She is also learning to be a very good duelist. One of the reasons for this is the rush she feels when she beats someone with magic. This rush and sense of power is what drives her. But it’s also her sense of self-preservation. She will do anything to save herself in any given situation, but she would save some members of her family, and some friends (like Tom Riddle) before herself.
Bellatrix may come out as a mean person, but she doesn’t consider her this, or at least not completely. She believes that purebloods are above everyone else, and others need to be taught this. If someone doesn’t think like she does, she will try anything she can to convince them otherwise. Overall, Bellatrix is ambitious, and cunning.

In a world that knows only hate:

Very wealthy, and very well known.
What a bitter story of love:
Bellatrix Black was born September 28th, 1957 to Cygnus and Druella Black of the Noble and Most Ancient House of Black. She has two younger sisters called Andromeda, and Narcissa, but she only gets along with Narcissa because she considers Andromeda a blood traitor. Of her sisters, Andromeday is closest to her in age. Bella is only a year older than her sister. And Narcissa is three years younger, but even still Bellatrix is closer to her, and always had been. She grew up being taught that purebloods were above everyone else and that she, by being born into the House of Black was superior to many purebloods. She was also taught that it was extremely important to uphold the family honor.
When she was eleven she started studying at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, where she was sorted into Slytherin, like most people of her family. Well, with the exception of Sirius. She was really happy to be sorted into that house, but it wasn’t a surprise. She had always known it would happen; being in Slytherin was in her blood. When she was in second year, she was happy to know that her sister Andromeda was going to join her at Hogwarts. Even though Bella got along better with Narcissa than with Andromeda, she still got along with her. Throughout her years there, she became more and more ambitious and cruel. And she began extending her cruelty to her younger sister Andromeda when she found out about Andromeda’s thoughts on blood purity. Bellatrix wanted to leave Hogwarts and join Tom Riddle, also known as the Dark Lord, as one of his Death Eaters. That way she could not only uphold her family’s honor, but she could also teach muggles and mud blood their place. She was now in her seventh and last year, and couldn’t wait to finish it so she could go out and join the Death Eaters. Even though Bellatrix was not yet graduated, she was granted the high honor of being trained by the Dark Lord, but it bothered her slightly that she couldn’t boast about it.
spare me your freaking
dirty looks now don't blame me
This year, the morning of September 1st went by slower than usual for Bellatrix. She didn’t particularly want to return to Hogwarts, she wanted to join the Death Eaters, but for that she had to finish her magical training. Bella doubted she would learn much this year, but she had accepted the fact that she would be returning for her last year. Would she miss her friends if she didn’t go? Not really. She had seen most of them throughout the summer vacations. And in any case, she wasn’t dependant of anyone and didn’t need to see anyone to be happy. Well… Seeing the Dark Lord would make her happy, but that would just have to wait. Bellatrix wasn’t one to take a long time to get dressed, but she did like to make people wait for her, so she usually took her time leaving her room, and coming down the stairs from her room. She preferred to make people wait for her than to wait for anyone. This morning was no different. She took her time getting dressed, and sending for the useless house elves to take her trunk down. She had placed some charms on her trunk, because one trunk wouldn’t be enough to carry all the things she would need for one year. It was just not enough. Whomever thought it was, was completely incompetent. Bella spent some time in front of the mirror making sure she looked like what she was, a high class pureblood. She looked impeccable in her clothes, and had not one hair out of place. And her make-up, not that she needed any, she was beautiful as she was, but her make-up made her look serious and severe. She smirked at her reflection, pleased with what she saw. She turned to give her room one last sweep through in case she was leaving anything behind. But alas, she wasn’t. Bellatrix was thorough and had packed the night before, well; she had supervised while the disgusting house elves packed her things.
When she did manage to leave her room she was ready to head out to Kings Cross to start her last year at Hogwarts. Bellatrix scoffed when she walked by her sister Andromeda. Since her sister had been sorted into Slytherin House during her first year and Bella’s second, but had still shown that she did not care about pureblood supremacy, Bellatrix hadn’t talked to her. She considered Andromeda a blood traitor. She couldn’t get over how her sister had ended up I Gryffindor. But then again, she had always had weird ways of thinking. It was like Andromeda had been raised in another family, with other values. Bella felt betrayed, but she was more disappointed than anything. Later on, her little sister Narcissa had been sorted into Slytherin, and that made Andromeda’s betrayal slightly less bad. But only just slightly less. Since then, Bella and Cissa had been closer than they had ever been, but she was still closer to some of her friends than her littlest sister. Even though Bellatrix was closer to some of her friends than to her little sister, her loyalty lies with her family. Well, with everyone except Andromeda. Andromeda was a sore subject she didn’t want to think about anymore, so she kept walking and didn’t say anything to her. She told her sister that she was leaving and that she’d see them when they got to the Hogwarts Express. She didn’t want to wait there, and she figured that the sooner she got to Hogwarts, the sooner the year would finish and then she could join the Death Eaters. Bellatrix apparated to the bathrooms at Kings Cross Station with her school trunk, and made her way toward Platform 9 and ¾. Carefully to avoid muggle detection, she dragged a cart with her trunk on it and ran through the barrier. As soon as she was on Platform 9 and ¾ she saw a lot of her schoolmates. Some of them she got along with, and some she didn’t, but it felt normal to be there. She smiled to some of her friend’s parents and walked toward the train. She didn’t feel like dealing with the masses but if someone stopped her to talk she would be friendly.
On the train, she looked for an empty compartment, but she found that many of them were full. Halfway through the train she saw a compartment that held only a few first years. She could tell they wouldn’t make it to Slytherin by the way they cowered when they saw her. Bellatrix smirked at them and told them to het out using her coldest voice. She made the look in her eyes cruel. It was something she had perfected over the years. A look that had proved very useful throughout her years at Hogwarts, and she was sure it would prove useful later on too. Soon after she told them to leave, they were gone from the compartment and there was no evidence that there had been a few first years there minutes before. Bellatrix strode in and made herself comfortable. She left the compartment door closed, but wouldn’t have minded if any Slytherins joined her. After all, that was part of the journey to Hogwarts aboard the Hogwarts Express, was it not? In her opinion it wouldn’t be the same to go to Hogwarts on the Express and not socialize with ones friends and acquaintances. That’s where many of the year’s plans were mapped out, and it was also where the gossip began. Not that Bellatrix would lower herself to rumors and something as common as gossip, but well, it was good to be kept informed of the goings on in other pureblood families. She leaned her head back on the chair and closed her eyes, but her senses were wide-awake. Bellatrix let her mind open to the people around her, the thoughts that were surging through their minds. But before long she heard the door of her compartment slide open and someone walk inside and join her.
