Severus climbed the many stairs leading up and up and up until finally he had made it to the ground floor, lugging the small bag of gifts over his shoulder like some nightmare of a Father Christmas figure. He wore a dark blue pullover with a hole in the sleeve, and a pair of slightly too big at the waist jeans. None of this mattered though, because it was Christmas, and he was off to see his best friend, Lily Evans. Of course, she had to live at the very top of the castle and he at the very bottom, so he gahered his strength and started trudging up the staircases, muttering a thankyou when one mvoed to get him that little bit higher with the smae amount of walking. Half way there, he stopped to catch his breath. He wasn't unfit. Just ...not fit enough for all these flights of stairs. Having finally, thank the lord, reached the top of the stairs, he walked towards the portrait of the Fat lady who guarded Gryffindor common room and hoped that It wouldn't be one of the Marauder's who opened the portrait hole. He kncocked on the wood of the frame and got told off for his troubles by the inhabitant of said frame who seemed a little tipsy with the festivities. TAG; Lily, but open if someone wants to open the portrait for him to ask for Lily through Clothes; As described above.

Lily was sitting down by the fire, when she heard someone knock. Lily had woken up quite early, then again she usually did wake up early. She got up and headed over to see who it was. She grinned when she seen who was standing on the other side of the painting. "Sev!, How are you?" she asked, with a big smile on her face and giving him a big hug. Houses never mattered to her when it came to Severus, they'd been friends long before Hogwarts. If there was one person whom she'd want to spend Christmas, it would be him. She loved spending time with him. The fact they didn't see each other all that much, or as much as they used to that is, seeing as they were in two different houses didn't help.
A part of her was still surprised they were still friends after being sorted into the two houses that are rivals. I mean considering how the other people in his house acted...She was glad for it though. She knew if they met here at Hogwarts that they might not have been friends and she was really glad to have him in her life. She really wasn't sure what to do if she lost him as a friend. I mean he was her best friend, that's why she hated the people he hung around with. It was no secret that none of them liked Lily. In fact they hated her, just because of her blood. Not for the type of person she was, but because of blood.

Severus blushed at the hug he recievied from his friend, shifting the sack of gifts to one hand so that he could half hug his best friend back with one hand.
When he pulled back he had a rare smile on his face. "Fine, thanks...How have you been?" THe 'I missed you, Lils' was unspoken but just as clear in his dark eyes.
He wasn't sure if he'd be allowed into the Gryffindor Comon room and considering the risks, he didn't want to try it on balance. The Cons heavily outweighed the Pros. And he could'nt take Lily to his common room, they'd slaughter them both, but make sure to do it such a way so as ot to arouse any suspiscion. They'd be deader than dead and the perpetrators would get off scot free. And unfortunate side-effect of being in his house.
They could still go to one of the empty classrooms, most had christmas decorations...Or they could go all the way to the great hall...Severus had brough all his presents with him and Lily's gift of course. It was trasdition to open their gifts together.
"Do you want to get your gifts? We can open them downstairs or.." He rubbed the side of his neck, thinking and just glad to have Lily..Even if it wasn't quite in the way his dreams played out. "We could open them wherever you like really..."
Wherever Lils went, Sev would follow. And it wasn't lily Evans and Severus Snape...They were just Sev and Lils, the two friends who came up with crazy ideas for potions and funnier private jokes. Severus still couldn't look at Professor Kettleburn without thinking of his and lil's joke about him
