Alice wasn't particularily prepared for today. And she knew of course just because they were going to have a girls evening out, it didn't mean it would be anything like she expected. Hell this whole world wasn't anything like she expected. Alice had gotten very good grades at the end of her exams. Passed nearly everything. Alright admitedly, arithmancy wasn't the easiest corse she'd ever had. But it wasn't a bad grade. It just very simply wasn't great. Or at least that's what she was going to claim if anyone asked. "Who the hell needs bloody Arithmancy anyway?!"
No one really cared about Alice's arithmancy skills in her new job. Life outside of Hogwarts wasn't nice like she thought it would be. She'd accepted an internship at the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures. Alice had been made a tea tray girl for everyone that worked in the beast division. And that bloody Macnair person scared the hell out of her. Honestly who enjoys going around ordering animals dead. This job had turned out to be much less satisfying than she excpeted.
Hoping to keep her life as easy as possible, Alice showed up for work just like any normal day, ten minutes early. The day went on rather well. "Tea? No? And you sir? Tea?" It was a load of men she worked with and she wasn't sure they cared for her. Possibly they thought her heart was too big. Alice was quickly learning girls were much too soft for this job. At the end of the day Walden Macnair handed her a stack of files. "Take it up to Augustus Rookwood Please." Alice wasn't even sure where to find Mr. Rookwood and wasn't sure why he wasn't just magicing it to him. Blinking a little, Alice took the files and looked up at the dark beard on the man's face. He lowered his head to be level with her face and stared her down. "Level Nine. Department of Mysteries. Don't speek to anyone. I want it there on time. Make sure it is in his hands and his only." That seemed strange. But never the less, Alice nodded and walked out of the office and down to an elevator.
Curious. As the elevator was empty, Alice looked up to be sure there was nothing watching her, then slowly opened the top file. It was a werewolf registration form from ages ago. And the name was Fenrir Greyback. Alice took one look at the picture of Greyback and gasped. He was hidieous. And frightening. Slapping the file shut she looked only at the wall until she got to level nine. Finding Rookwood's office she put the files directly in his hands then scurried from his sight in a mad dash to get her cloak. The ride back to level four was shorter it seemed and Alice swallowed hard as she approached Walden once more. "It's done sir. I'll be off for the evening." He didn't give a damn and simply waved her off with a grunt. "Yes sir.. you have a good night as well." Picking up her things Alice went quickly to the main floor and into a fireplace.
Thank God. Making her way down the busy London streets, Alice headed for the Leaky Cauldron. Not a place she was exactly fond of, but it lead to Diagon Ally which was exactly where she was headed. She'd sent the owl about a week ago and asked Dorcas to meet up along the stretching streets. Ducking inside she nodded a hello to the bartender and then continued out back. Soon she was standing infront of the window of Madam Pimpernelle's Beautifying Potions. Little pink bottles lined a display of the latest new hair curlers. They made you hair almost life like and from Alice's understanding, some became a little too life like. She was suprized they hadn't pulled them off the shelves. No matter, Alice did her curls herself most days. Turning from the window she looked up and down the street for her friend.

Whoops! That wasn't right! Dorcas rushed back to her mirror and corrected the lipstick smear across her face. She was rushing around because she only had five minutes to leave and meet Alice. She was going to have to apparate right to the meeting point in Diagon Alley, she wasn't going to be able to stroll through the Leaky Cauldron and see if there were any talent in there lining up their pre-drinks of the evening before heading out for a great night out ... a great night out that she'd just loooove to be apart of if they were cute enough for her tastes, or funny. Funny guys were sexy too.
Getting ready when you were Dorcas Meadowes was always a fun and interesting experience, Dorcas wasn't exactly the neatest person in the world and most of her clothes lived on the floor. The clean pile that had been washed and folded once upon a time by her mother was to the left of her bed next to her draws only it was no longer folded. Still, at least she always managed to put her clean underwear away and tonight she had decided on something that you could quite probably floss your teeth with.
Walking around her bed to the dirty side she sort of kicked herself a path through the mess, deciding this wasn't good enough she took out her wand and levitated all her dirty washing off the floor, made her way down the the washing machine and stuffed everything in, struggling to close the door, but her mother couldn't complain, she was making an effort and so Dorcas filled the thing up with two cups of washing powder, not having the faintest idea of what to do and just pressed the start button before walking off to try and find her heels that were in the bottom of her wardrobe.
Getting back upstairs and putting her heals on and searching all over the place for her wand, Dorcas finally found it already on her person and took it out, disapparating to Diagon Alley, leaving her cloak at home. She didn't really think too much just as long as she was wearing clothes, had her money pouch tucked away down her top, her wand in hand and her make up all done, she didn't really need to do too much thinking because she was going to be getting wasted! She just hoped Alice would be able to let go and get into the flow.
Quickly walking down the alley way, Dorcas saw Alice up ahead. "Alice!" She called as she got closer. Dorcas had no idea how late she was or if she was on time and Alice had just been early, but whatever the time, she hoped Alice hadn't been waiting too long. "Hope I haven't kept you waiting too long." She said, tucking her wand away. "Now, lets see about having some fun tonight, did you walk through the Leaky Cauldron and if so, were there any cute guys?" Yeah, because that was what was important, not how are you, were there cute guys. Dorcas really knew how to prioritise well.

Turning to face her now arriving friend, Alice smiled. Dorcas fussed about if she had kept Alice waiting or not. Honestly, Alice didn't believe she truely cared. But came back with a polite and flatering responce any how. "Oh, no of course not! I'm always early no fault of yours." It was both an admirable trate and and anoying one. Or so Alice thought. She found that all though being early made you look good, it often kept you waiting for life to catch up with you. Which could be rather upsetting. Fortunatly waiting gave her time to window gaze today so Alice was not in the least bit upset with Dorcas.
As the more experienced girl gabbed on about the occupants of the leaky cauldron, Alice pondered the typical opinions on attraction. "Well really I think that all depends on your type." OH yes, if Dorcas liked already drunk and slightly unwashed men, then there was a small selection. Bet that wasn't Alice's type at all. She liked hygenically aware men. Tall, strong, handsome types. Sure a little edge and danger was always a bonus but that didn't matter. Those types wouldn't be attracted to Alice. Dangerous bad boys liked sexy smoldering bad girls. Alice was not one of those girls. "I'm not sure I have experience enough to even really know if I do have a type. Or even if I'm someone's type in return." Well I'm sure I'd be someone's type. Lord knew everyone had a type.
Tucking back a stray hair, she looked Dorcas over. "You look great by the way!" The bad girl type like the boys liked. Looking down at her own outfit she deducted that she looked like... A sappy goody two shoes who just came from work. Shaking her head she paid her dress and shoes no attention and turned to face down the street a small ways. "So, what's the plan for this evening exactly? I don't quite think I know how to do this going out for the night... thing." It was true. Alice had spent less time thinking about how to act in social situations and more time thinking about things she'd read in books.....Or in files containing werewolf registration forms. There she went again. Letting her mind wander. She looked back at Dorcas and gave her a light smile. "Am I supposed to be....cute and pretty or...I dunno. I'm rather out of my element here." Laughing at her own naivity(possible just made that word up), Alice stuffed her hands in her pockets and waited for Dorcas' lead. Alice had decided that following would be better than leading and making an ass of herself.

Yeah, that meant she was late. Internally Dorcas cringed. She did not want to ruin Alice's big night out, after all this was a new start for the uh ... Well, Dorcas really couldn't think of anything that nice to say about Alice, sure she was punctual and well mannered but that wasn't really the type of thing this brunette as looking for, regardless, the new Alice was going to be fun, adventure seeking and a little more on the rebellious side than old Alice. Old Alice would be history if Dorcas had her way and she felt as though she might just get that tonight!
Dorcas rolled her eyes and linked her arm with Alice's, dragging her new friend along after she'd been talking about attractive men, not knowing her own type and plans of this evening. Dorcas didn't plan, it was a case of drink and see where you end up. It always worked well for Dorcas, she always got home in one piece eventually. Maybe a few days after she'd been out, but nothing bad had ever happened to her that she hadn't brought on herself, like the time she tried cartwheeling and fractured her ankle. She was a lucky sort in some senses of the word, but in other, she was misfortunate because of her ridiculous clumsiness.
"Merlin you can gabber on! I do look great, you look beautiful and we'll find us plenty of cute looking guys and you can soon discover what your type is like!" Dorcas grinned, thinking that next time she'd invite Alice over to her place for a few pre-drinks and then convince her to change her outfit, though Dorcas hadn't lied, Alice did look beautiful, just not as sexy as the evening needed, still, like Dorcas had said, they could find plenty of hot blokes and Alice would be able to take her pick and decide on a 'type' for herself.
"Now, first stop is the Leaky Cauldron, then another bar, maybe a cocktail place after that and then a club!" To Dorcas, that sounded ideal, though there was always room for improvement and she could always do with some more company, but before herself, she needed to place Alice, she needed to find Alice a nice sortta guy before she started looking for herself for the night, though a bit of window shopping never hurt anyone.
Dragging Alice towards the back of the Leaky Cauldron, Dorcas tapped her wand on the brick wall and the archway opened up for them, Dorcas dropped Alice's arm and walked on through the door to the pub and into the main hustle and bustle of the bar. It was busier than usual, but that was probably because everyone was going out for the night, there weren't that many cute guys around but that didn't mean they couldn't have a little fun. Winking at some spotty twenty-something year old, Dorcas pushed her way to the bar and ordered two drinks and two shots that she paid for. Turning around she walked out of the crowd with the drinks and looked about for Alice, hopefully they'd be able to get a table and get the night started the right way - drinking.

Leaky... yes... Alright well if that was what Dorcas thought was the right idea for the evening, then perhaps Alice should just simply go with it. She was finding her friend to be perplexing and had a feeling they seemed to be an unlikely pair. The idea of "The Odd Couple" popped into her head for a moment and she laughed thinking Dorcas would deffinatly be Oscar and Alice was most certainly Felix. Alice and Dorcas... Friends. If it wasn't a paradox, then it was a load of crap. But believe it or not Alice liked Dorcas. There was something about that girl that Alice couldn't explain, and she desperately wanted to.
Following Dorcas and staying quiet a while, she looked around the pub. It was an interesting place. Honestly she'd never paid much mind to it all these years. It had dark little corners and stairs leading to... well she didn't actually know where those went. But something told her she didn't want to know. As Dorcas made her way to the bar, Alice wandered farther away. The nutzy girl winked at a boy. And he looked worse than that Reginald kid they went to school with. Alice almost missed Reginald. That sounded stupid but she did. She'd heard through the grape vine at work that he'd actually gone away to find an antidote for the perpetual silence potion. Something he'd been suffering from since age 13. That news made Alice feel like the worlds largest git. That day she's destroyed all the daily prophets in their department instead of placing them neatly on the tea trays. Brushing the thought from her head, Alice weaved around the people and stood a bit away from the crowd so as to breath better. Some wizards just obviously didn't believe in baths.
As Dorcas returned Alice smiled. Alright follow her lead. She was eyeing guys. Right, Alice should do the same. "See anyone we know at least?" Shrugging Alice turned to the back a little more and surveyed a guy picking his nostrals with the business end of his wand. That was not only disgusting it was dangerous. You could blow your whole sniffer off doing that. Shuddering she turned back to Dorcas. "That is just repulsive..."
Deciding that her eyes were better kept toward the better lit parts of the pub, Alice looked at the drinks then back to Dorcas. She was just about to say something when someone walked by their table. "Frank?!" The man turned around and turned out not to be Frank Longbottom. Alice pretended to look past him and wave to someone as the man turned back to his destination. Looking quickly to Dorcas with an embarassed look, she fumed about that split second. "Alright.. what is this stuff? Lets make the stupid remarks go away will this take care of all that? I wanna move passed idiocracy and into someone whorth knowing." Smiling Alice brushed her hair away from her face and looked nervously at the liqure filled glasses on the table.

Dorcas looked about the pub. Was there anyone there that she recognised. Nope. Probably a good thing because people she recognised were usually arse holes and she'd probably slept with them or had some kind of arguments, the first being with men and the latter primarily women but with a few men thrown in. Dorcas wasn't one for controlling her temper all that well sometimes, as she was sure Alice was well aware. A twinge of guilt ran through her. Yeah, they'd had an awesome start to their friendship. She supposed it could only get better but she had been known to be wrong in the past, even if she never admitted it.
"I can't see anyone I recognise but the night's still young and it's probably for the better if we don't run into anyone I know." She admitted out loud. "Besides, Alice! We're out tonight to make new friends!" She grinned at her fellow brunette as Alice watched some disgusting bloke pick his nose with his wand. Dorcas snorted. "Yeah, that's pretty damned disgusting but you know, survival of the fittest, if he blows his head off then at least that's one less idiot in the gene pool." Yes, sometimes Dorcas had a rather emotionless view on things and people.
Dorcas ignored Alice as she called out to some guy named Frank. Dorcas personally didn't know any franks so she just knocked back her shot, winced and shook a little before opening her eyes to see Alice looking at her and questioning the drinks. Dorcas grinned, wondering if Alice had ever even been tipsy before now because if not, then tonight was going to be one hell of a great time for the two graduates. Drinking, dancing and dudes. The three D's that Dorcas loved. Oh, and herself, she had a soft spot for her reflection every now and then too so she supposed that made four D's.
"This!" She exclaimed, nudging the second shot glass towards Alice a little more. "Is a pure shot of courage. Now knock it back your gullet and lets get this night started!" Dorcas looked at the shot in front of Alice. It was a nice strong, matured whiskey that would give her one hell of a kick from taste bud to stomach, brain to hangover, if Alice had never been out drinking before this shot was going to get her tipsy in a matter of minutes and Dorcas was really hoping on having a great time with a drunk Alice tonight.
Lifting her own glass of liquid Dorcas took a sip. Scotch and coke. It was one of her favourites and she'd gotten a Vodka and coke for Alice, figuring the flavour of Scotch might be a little too strong for her and a little too burny. Vodka would hopefully be a smooth sort of introduction to a night out with Dorcas for Alice, especially after a shot of aged whiskey.
