What can be found in a name:
Katsurou Akiyama
When the day I was born:
DOB 13/05/1959 (he's 17 now and a sixth year)
The Angels screamed:
Parents – Momoko Akiyama-Fukui and Ryouta Akiyama
And Hell shut its doors:
None.
While creatures retreated:
Pure Blood
To depths unknown:
Hufflepuff
I hide from them:
He’s not so sure yet – especially as he’s not really been to Hogwarts before. But I’m sure he’ll be very fond of the library and any place outside.
Be who they want to see:
Kat’s eyes are typically Asian. He sometimes thinks it would’ve been cool if his eyes had been blue or some other exotic colour, but they are brown and as he’s not into changing his appearance magically, brown they will remain.
His hair is dark short, which is not really European fashion at the moment, but he doesn’t care. In fact, his hair is short because of convenience. Katsurou can’t stand hair in his eyes when he’s trying to focus on something and doesn’t look too bad on him, so he keeps it short like this.
As opposed to Lena, Kat is rather tall en well-built (not that Lena is not built well, of course!). He is just an inch short of being 6’ and as he has been taught that taking care of yourself is very important, he is also rather muscular. Not body-building muscular, though, he’s leaner and less bulky.
Overall, Katsurou has a pleasant air about him. He doesn’t smile too often (though that might just change once he goes to Hogwarts), but there is always something warm and friendly about him. He is an easy going guy and that can be seen in his clothes, as well. He dresses up neatly when the occasion demands it of him, but in general, he prefers comfortable clothes.
But that leaves no one:
To discover that inside:
Kat is a balanced person. He believes that too little of a good thing is bad, but too much of a good thing is worse. His emotions work pretty much the same: he is honest when needed, but not brutally so; he is a good friend and will always be there for you, but not if you need some time alone, etc. The best part: he makes friends easily. He is not distrustful or easily angered; pretty much anyone will be able to befriend Katsurou.
Okay, so he is pure blood and is not so familiar with people who haven’t had a luxury life yet, but he’s an imaginative bloke, so he’ll be able to relate to them. He has been raised with pure blood ideals, of course, but has an open mind and will give someone time to prove themselves before he judges them right away. (I think this is due to Kat’s family’s contact with the Kawamoto family, who also regarded everyone to be equal despite blood status.)
Katsurou is ambitious to the extent that he wants to be the best he can be without losing himself in the process. It’s another ‘side effect’ of his balanced personality. He will try hard, but not if that means neglecting other important things (e.g. friends). Because of this, he has a rather large number of hobbies compared to most other teenagers, perhaps. He plays acoustic bass guitar, was rather a dab hand at the position of keeper in Quidditch back in Japan, and when his family had decided he would be marrying Lena Beckett, who was rather into dancing, they decided he should also give dancing a try. Open minded as Kat is, he did give it a try, and found he actually liked it quite a lot (it was a nice contrast with the brutality of Quidditch).
As said above, Kat appears to be an easy going person. He is. He doesn’t like unnecessary problems, so he doesn’t start worrying until he’s sure that he should. Because he’s usually honest and tries not to do anything he doesn’t believe in, he doesn’t get into trouble often. When he does get into trouble, he will ideally think about the problem on his own first, before asking for his friends’ and family’s opinions. Problems are not something that scare him, they are simply a challenge and he will not let them spoil his fun.
When it comes to intelligence, Katsurou is not a wiz kid. Still, because he does care about his grades, he tries rather hard and although he may not have the best grades in class, he does well in school. Because of his open-mindedness he is able to look at things from another point of view, which especially aids him in DADA.
This soulless being:
Dancing and watching other people dance
Quidditch (though he’s not sure if he’ll try out for keeper yet)
Music with interesting bass lines
Charms
DADA
(Light) reading
Oranges
Is just as lost:
Disrespectful people
People who make a problem out of everything
Stress
Dishonesty
When other people think what’s best for him
Chicory
As everyone else:
Easy to befriend
Loyal and honest
When in love, is always serious about it
Impulsive at times
Calm when needed
In a world that knows only hate:
Maybe a little too trusting at times
Likes too many things to do all of them extensively
Cannot stand people who are judgmental
Can seem more macho than he is
Just a little bit too carefree sometimes
He likes people around him, so being alone is a little uncomfortable for him
And causes pain for the soulless like me:
Katsurou doesn’t have many secrets, really, but the most important one is the fact he’s not always as sure of himself as he seems to be. Now that he knows he’s going to marry Lena (or that’s what the plan is, anyway), he’s feeling a little insecure. Still – he’s going to give it a shot.
They left me to die:
The Fukui family is a rather wealthy pure blood family from the south of Japan. They are rather focused on blood pureness.
On a bed of roses:
The Aiyama family is completely different from the Fukui family in all apart from the fact their pure blood. They were not so very wealthy and, due to ties with the Kawamoto, open minded about blood status. When Ryouta married Momoko, they got the best of both: wealth from Momoko’s side of the family, but Ryouta’s open mind and more generous nature.
Blood seeping through:
Momoko has not seen her own family since she married – they were less than pleased with her choice. Kat has never met any of his mother’s relatives, but no one’s told him why.
The satin sheets of fame:
Quite rich, thanks to Momoko’s inheritance.
What a bitter story of love:
Even before Kat had been born, his parents had decided they would have one child and one child only. They were rather busy people when it came to work and social obligations and as they knew they would not have time for more than one child, they decided on the one.
Katsurou turned out to be a very easy child. He reflected his parents’ pleasant personalities and because his parents wanted to enjoy him as much as he could (he would be their only child, after all), he was stimulated by them to do and see all sorts of things. They would take him out on trips twice a month, he did several sports and other extracurricular activities when he was in school, and became good at making and keeping friends, so that he was basically never alone.
Of course he didn’t like everything that his parents made him try and sometimes, it did become a little bit too much for him. Some children work themselves into a frenzy to keep their parents proud of them, and this is what Kat did – for a little while. He tried to keep up with everything, almost forgot to eat and sleep, and then one day, when he was twelve years old, he woke up and decided he wouldn’t do it anymore. Being encouraged by his parents to be honest with them at all times, he told them what was bothering him, explaining that the pressure made him dislike the things that he had liked previously. Of course, as all good parents, his parents understood and decided that he was old enough to make his own decisions from now on, as long as he would communicate about it with the both of them.
This went well for a very long time. Katsurou proved to be able to arrange his own social life just fine and when the pressure became too high, he usually made the right choices (with a little help from his parents). This felt good. To be honest, he felt rather grown-up, actually.
Too bad that his parents were about to arrange one last major thing in his life – a marriage. Knowing that Lena Becket was the last heir to the Kawamoto fortune as well as that she was alone and around Kat’s age, it seemed like a good match to them. They made no attempt to lie to their son and just explained the situation; to say the least, Katsurou was not amused. He could take care of his own life, couldn’t he? Why did they suddenly have to meddle again? They had a short fight and Kat was rather upset about it all, but as he could never stay angry long (especially not when it concerned his parents) he promised to give it a try. His parents just hope it’ll work out, because if it doesn’t, they’re not sure how things will work out.
Either way, he will be enrolling at Hogwarts to meet his future bride upcoming September. He’s a little nervous about this, especially as he doesn’t want to lie to her, but he doesn’t want to disappoint his parents, either. It’s a bit of a tricky situation.
He groaned as the alarm clock went off. No. No. It was a Saturday, he was going to stay in bed just a little longer. Rolling onto his back, he opened his eyes a little when he heard sounds and hushed whispers to peek through his eyelashes and looked at the ceiling. Not his ceiling. Oh, yes - he was at Hogwarts now. Might as well get up, he felt a little uncomfortable sleeping in when there were also other people awake in the room, it was something he wasn’t used to, but he was sure he’d get used to it sooner or later. Hopefully sooner rather than later.
He sat up and stretched, one of his roommates whose name he’d forgotten wished him a good morning. “Likewise,” Kat grinned slightly and ran a hand through his hair. Another advantage of short hair – no need to untangle it every morning. “You guys planning anything today?” he asked no one in particular as he kicked off his pajama trousers and reached for some clean underwear. He had gotten used to changing with other people in the room quicker than he had expected. It helped that these people were nice in general, they had gotten along well from day one. “I thought maybe we could write that potions essay together and get it over with,” Kat stated simply and a few of his roommates (still sleepy) nodded. He grabbed a shirt and pulling it over his head. His stomach rumbled. “Breakfast first, though,” he muttered to himself for a moment. The boy who slept in the bed next to him had heard him and grinned. “You bet – some bacon and eggs would go down well before I do anything.”
Kat grinned at him, glad for a reaction that was more than half a yawn and a nod. “I’ll race you down.”
