Let me tell you, a little something about myself[/color]
Sirius was not similar to the rest of his family - other than by his temper and occasional arrogance. As a child when he was learning about the evils of Muggles and those who aligned with them, he always held doubt within the beliefs. He didn't really start rebelling until around the age of ten. He began to learn of Hogwarts, and while his parents tried to instill upon him the want of being in Slytherin, Sirius had other ideas. When he learned the values of Gryffindor, he fell in love with them. He somehow managed to find Gryffindor posters and hang them on his wall, much to their displeasure.
It wasn't until he actually started Hogwarts and was Sorted into Gryffindor was when he put Permanent Sticking Charms on his Gryffindor posters. He became further estranged with his family throughout his Hogwarts years, although he became much closer with his new friends, James Potter, Remus Lupin and Peter Pettigrew. He became particularly close to James Potter, who became like a surrogate brother for him. When he found out that Remus Lupin was a werewolf, instead of turning away, he learned to become the Animagus of a dog... illegally, of course.
Into his sixth year at Hogwarts, his intolerance at his family has been driven to an all-time high. He doesn't want to go back, and hates the lot of them.
Despite his family's hatred of him, Sirius actually grew up popular at Hogwarts. He was a prankster, and got up to all sorts of trouble with his friends, usually with him and James at the lead. It seemed like everyone wanted to be him. With his aristocratic good looks, all the girls swooned for him, but Sirius has yet to commit, and doesn't intend to. Obviously, with the good comes the bad. It also seemed like everyone in Slytherin despised him, which was perfectly okay with Sirius as he hated them all back. In fact, Sirius has a very obvious prejudice towards Slytherins, as he won't give a single one of them a chance.
However, his devilishly good looks to not hinder his intelligence. On the contrary, Sirius is lucky enough to be the top of his class. If it weren't for his prankster ways and his big mouth, he could very well have easily been some sort of Prefect. However, something like that had no appeal to Sirius whatsoever. He would rather have fun, and of course, bully Snivellus.
