Let me tell you, a little something about myself[/color]
Daphne was born into a young married couple. Lynn and her husband had met while at Hogwarts, and they were actually legitimately in love with each other from sixth year onward. Lynn was in Gryffindor, and her family was of little consequence in the wizarding world. William, however, was fully immersed into the pureblood mania hype of that age. His family wasn't particularly rich, but they held the old name and that was important. At first, the two hated each other. But over some time, this hate changed to something that was more like lust. And then after Lynn was harassed by a few of William's friends--female friends-- when they realized that he was interested in her, he came to her rescue. It was all very nice and fairy-tale like until after they were married. They married directly after Hogwarts, smething that most people told them not to do. But they ignored the pleas of both sets of parents and wed anyways. And thus was when the problems set in.
Lynn wasn't aware of the death eater connections that William held, and when she became aware of them she felt betrayed. He had never told her because he thought it of very little consequence. While they had been 'in love' with each other, , very little time of their years together at Hogwarts was spent having heart to hearts about their families skeletons in the closet. But nonetheless, when she discovered that the Benson family was part of that, she tried to get him out. But he was already a legacy, and on his way of getting close to the group so he continued on his ladder climbing of the group in secret.
His wife wished to leave him, but soon realized that she couldn't. This reason was being that she was pregnant with their first child at the age of nineteen. Upset, and angry with her husband, she moved back in with her parents for Daphne's first year after her birth. But eventually William coaxed her back to their home- not out of any particular love for his wife, but because he wanted their daughter to be taught the family legacy. He had actually reached a point of status and wasn't about to throw it away for a wife that no longer loved him and he no longer loved.
Daphne grew up exceedingly close to her father, and Victoria who was born two years later was also close to their father. But Lynn frequently tried to pit the two girls against each other. But this backfired and only set her more and more apart from her daughters. And it also pushed William away more, to the point where he could barely tolerate her. Thus was how the four of them grew up, in a divided household. The two girls got along, they were best friends. They fought frequently, but it only brought them closer. Tori wasn't as close to their father, and she didn't take the work that e was trying to impress upon them as seriously. But Daphne was only putting in the effort because she wanted her father's attention, Tor didn't seem to seek it as much.
When Daphne went to Hogwarts, she fell into the Slytherin crowd perfectly fine. She made a few good friends, and felt perfectly at home at the castle. When her sister came a couple years later, it was exciting. But she felt the slight press of their repressed competition rise to the surface. But nonetheless, she showed no less affection for Tori, but only worked harder on her reputation and on her schoolwork.
