Let me tell you, a little something about myself[/color]
Peter Pettigrew was born to Patrick and Patricia Pettigrew once upon a icy cold December night on the twenty-fourth in the year nineteen-fifty-nine. Peter was born with a biological identical twin that did not survive that first night of its very short lived life; dying from an unknown lung malfunction within a dank room within a muggle hospital.
The babies arrived prematurely and the delivery was a hard and long one almost resulting in the death of him and his mother as well. It has always been believed by his parents that, that is why he has always seemed so short and small of stature for his age. After the initial first few months of life all seemed to be as it should and he was able to leave the confines of the hospital and permitted to go home.
Peter received his Hogwarts letter to his delight and fascination at the prospect at learning magic. Peter was sorted into Gryffindor sometimes to his own amazement since he personally doesn’t think of himself as being particularly brave. Peter Pettigrew started his student years at Hogwarts the same time as Sirius Black, James Potter, Remus Lupin, Lily Evans, and Severus Snape all of whom he had seen for the first time on the Hogwarts Express.
Together with Padfoot, Prongs, and Moony he formed the Marauders a small band of mischievous Gryffindor students that occupied the same dorm room from their first night at Hogwarts School Of Witchcraft And Wizardry, and learned to become an Animagus. Peter's Animagus form is a rat and so his friend fondly refer to him by the maraudering nick name of "Wormtail".
It was a talent that he reached in his fifth year of his magical education with much help from his friends Sirius and James. Together with his three friends he explored the grounds of Hogwarts finding many hidden passages and creating the Marauders Map.
Just during his last summer holiday Peter Pettigrew had a nervous breakdown and spent many lonely weeks locked in a padded room at St Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries. He doesn’t have the nerve to tell any of his friends about this unfortunate turn of events in his life. He is also extremely certain that they wouldn’t really care that much even if he did.
During his stay he accidentally upset one of the other patients and was crucio’d by them after they had gotten a hold of a healer’s wand. Peter has been even more flighty and nervous since this unfortunate little chapter in his life. He can often be seen chewing the tips of his fingernails clean off in agitation and with nervous energy.
Peter Pettigrew surprisingly enough has a complex personality. Although most would not realize this fact. For the most part Peter is a opportunist taking advantage of any opportunity that presents itself to achieve whatever end he desired. Often these desires being met with little to no regard for any such things as principles and consequences. He is more then willing to trade favors and some services for a mutual advantage that favors him and his own hide.
He will not put to much hesitation into thoughts about whether or not his profits are at the misfortunes of others. He likes to fit himself with the most powerful people that he can. Knowing that with powerful friends and allies his place will be more secure and will use it to his advantage if possible and he will do just about anything to connect with those powerful people.
The most popular and the most influential of people. Included in this list are Sirius Black and James Potter and frankly Peter considers them to be at the top of the popularity chain at Hogwarts School Of Witchcraft And Wizardry. Peter suspects and maybe rightfully so that Sirius and James don’t really care about him, although he isn’t as sure about Remus Lupin.
He has suspicions that it is more of a friendship based on pity. But he feels that it is better then nothing. He isn’t quick when it comes to making friends but he does try when it suits him. One of the big reasons that he is the friend of James is because it helps to protect him from bullies.
Peter is quite the sycophant. He is really good at flattery towards others. For this reason Peter can often be seen almost fawning over his friends and there achievements and abilities. Though this is mostly directed at James of whom Peter feels is the most powerful and influential of the lot of them. Then there is another part of Peters personality that most disregard.
Peter is in many ways extremely shy, quiet and under spoken. Preferring to be a followed instead of a leader. He is more then happy to go along with whatever plains are concocted by the others. He is also shy around girls, not having had much contact with the fairer gender of the species, Peter will often become at a loss for words when they are around. He is just alittle bit less shy around other young men but not by much.
Peter Pettigrew is two-faced cowardly and wants to hang out with the biggest bullies that he can. Protecting his own skin is his number one top priority. It wasn’t always so, but after years of being teased and having jokes played on him he is starting to become resentful of the fact. Peter can be brave, he just normally chooses not to be, because he doesn’t usually see the benefit in it for him.
After those years he has become more then capable of betrayal as his friends may one day discover at their own misfortune. His main allegiance is quickly becoming himself. He is becoming a angry and secretive young man. Lost in his own confused thoughts about what he wants, what he should do, what is right and what would most benefit him and keep him out of harms way. He is becoming moody and volatile, normally when no one is around to see it.
He often becomes angry and hateful towards himself, angry with his friends and angry with the world in general, in a way that he detests and loathes. Peter desired nothing more then to be liked, and liked by the most powerful and popular people that he can.
The reason for this is really quit simple. It is protection from bullies, most pranks, and other nasty spirited things that could befall him otherwise. He just wants to be left in piece. He doesn’t really have that much in the way of ambitions and the like. He just wants to life comfortably, and have someone to call friend.
Most people looking at him would think him to be dim witted and stupid. Although this really isn’t the case, he is slow but not stupid.
