Let me tell you, a little something about myself[/color]
"I am a Zabini, my blood one of the most ancient to attend Hogwarts. I was born in the heart of Rome, a second child in a large extended family and an even larger fortune. My older brother, the heir to my father's estate, was the only person I was taught to trust. Out of the several dozen aunts and uncles that came and went while I was just a child, it was right of my father to teach me that. Trust is a precious thing. It doesn't do well to distribute without proper analyzing."
I can't really remember much before I was seven, I'm pretty sure there are very few who can, and with my first memory comes a little realization of the way my parents were. I don't know what you'll make of it and I really don't seem to care. You wanted to know about me, so I'm here to tell you..."
Ayanna was born at 9:32 a.m. in the Isola Tiberina, her father's hospital in Rome. Before the pregnancies, the Zabini's had made plans to move across the continent, hoping for a start away from the dark businesses the family had dabbled in years ago. The birth of their son brought on the decision to stay in the culturally rich country a few more years, not wanting to deprive their children of their teachings. Being the ancient pure-blood family, a lot of the older ways were practiced rigorously. Knowing their rightful place in society and learning the ways of their class hadn't been an easy thing for both Ayanna and her brother to accomplish.
"I remember mother putting me in my favorite dress and telling me to behave, to practice my Sunday lessons. There had been someone there to see me. My brother had gone off somewhere and left me to fend for myself and whatever it was mother had planned. It was like he knew it was one of her usual schemes and he wanted no part of it. From what I remember, he'd had always been like that, distancing himself from the family. Anyway, I sat on the couch in my favorite periwinkle dress with the most precious little earrings mother had bought me earlier that day. The conversations were a blur, the gentleman who'd come accompanying by a small boy, around my brother's age. I know I remember wondering why they weren't playing when my father came home outraged. He was fuming, yelling and making a scene, our visitors leaving quickly afterward. It took me a few years to fully understand my mother's intentions. Had my father not come home I would have been betrothed to the quiet little boy sitting across from me. She was old fashioned, mother was. Believed courting should be the way it was back in her day, where the rich women wore bodices they couldn't breathe in. Oh, she loved it. Father wanted no part of that."
Her magical abilities came to surface a few short months after the suitor had visited the house in a dire attempt to defend herself from her ruthless older brother. He was teasing, the way little boys usually do and found himself suddenly on the roof with no way to get down. Several rather loud, panicked minutes later, her brother was back on the ground and Ayanna was brought a new instructor. One who would help her wrangle her magical abilities and control them in the best way possible.
"Was I in trouble? Ha. Father adored me, there was absolutely no way he'd punish me for something like that. Especially when it came to him. He was the boy, he could defend himself fine. He actually got sent to bed that afternoon for picking on me. Mother's approach toward me was different... I don't want to get into that."
The first year Ayanna truly felt alone was the year her older brother had left for Hogwarts. He'd gotten his acceptance letter, flaunting it in front of his younger sister with pride. That same year, the family decided it was time to leave Rome and venture off to new territory. While he was away at school and writing to her constantly, Ayanna found herself in the city of London, surrounded by people and streets she was completely unfamiliar with. With the new atmosphere, lack of children her age, and her schooling, Ayanna started to grow and mature faster than the average little girl. By the time her letter arrived, she'd learned everything her mother could teach her about how to behave like a true pure-blood.
Sorted into Slytherin immediately, Ayanna soon learned there were other families so much like hers. Though she always practiced her father's teachings, Ayanna became close knit with the Blacks, Lestranges and Malfoys, the other families also falling into place.
"I'm a loyal friend, if anything. Those who consider me a friend know I'd do anything to prove loyalty. The ones who consider me an enemy, not so much. They're well aware to steer clear."
