[/center]”I’m Bellatrix Black. For most, that’s all you need to know. My name alone is a feared and revered term. So why am I telling you this? Call it charity.
My life is hardly the fairytale my sisters or parents would have you believe. Not that I would change a thing, Merlin, no. But it’s important that you realize that regardless of what you think you know about me: you know nothing. I’d love to stand here and tell you about my happy family and my wonderful husband and my large group of friends, but, unfortunately, story-telling has never been a hobby of mine. Instead, how about telling you about the bastard that cheated on me and broke my heart; the sister, the cousin that betrayed me; the friends that turned their backs? How about I tell you how the man I was supposed to marry drove me into the arms of a murderer?
Forget what you’ve heard about Bellatrix Black. You don’t know a damned thing.”

Two pureblood, Slytherin parents and three beautiful, Slytherin daughters. The Black family, on paper, were the perfect family, a prime example of the type of pureblood aristocracy that should be valued and respected.
Bellatrix was a strange child; a happy child, but strange. She was never very sociable and she loved learning. She picked up her first broom before she could even spell ‘Quidditch’ and was flying with great agility in no time. Most of her early years at home were spent studying French, taking art and piano lessons, and fighting with her younger cousin, Sirius.
When she started school, she was sorted into Slytherin, though, contrary to popular belief, the Sorting Hat had a great deal of trouble finding a suitable place for her. She was incredibly brave and courageous, showing great potential for loyalty, qualities of a Gryffindor. Ravenclaw was considered, because she was so very bright, it would be a shame to see such knowledge wasted on frivolity. But at last, the Hat settled on Slytherin, deciding that her clever mind and malicious intentions would fit in well with the lot of them.
She went through school as most girls of her class would have, making the grade necessary to please her parents and building relationships, networking. Her on and off relationship with star Quidditch player Rodolphus Lestrange kept the whole school on their toes with an ear to the ground to hear about the latest make-up or break-up drama. Just before the start of seventh year, Bellatrix was Marked. She was pleased with the decision, and her parents were proud, but this caused her relationships with her sisters to suffer.
After school, Bella returned to her parents’ home near Cardiff.
