Let me tell you, a little something about myself[/color]
Welcome to one of the most grim origins stories you will ever have the misfortune to read. In the year 1926, or perhaps 1927 as some records would suggest a young woman by the name of Merope Gaunt rushed into the lobby of a local orphanage screaming in pain and tears running down her face. She was going into labor and all she could seem to talk about was a man named Tom Riddle and how broken her heart was. Minutes later a young boy was born with bright blue eyes and small tufts of brown hair. The orphanage secretary held the baby in her arms and asked the young woman what she wanted to call him “Tom Marvolo Riddle,” she croaked before her eyes became glossy and no breath passed her pale lips.
Tom was an angry child who would soon grow into an angry adult but, that is a tale for later. For the first eleven years of his life Tom had grown to hate his father for leaving his mother and his mother for leaving him. He had no idea about his magical heritage save for a few moments in which he was able to do things that most would claim to be bizarre or the sign of the devil. He began to master these unique talents for setting fire to things, speaking to snakes, and levitating things. He particularly enjoyed tormenting the other children at the orphanage, especially those whom were mean to him. Just a few weeks before his eleventh birthday a strange man with a thick grey beard arrived at the orphanage. He called himself Professor Dumbledore and told Tom he was special, very special.
He spoke of a place called Hogwarts in which special young people like Tom would learn how to hone their skills. He was told he was a wizard and that if he stopped stealing things and being cruel to his peers he would be allowed to leave the orphanage and live at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Ambitious and cunning Tom was sorted into Slytherin House where he quickly made friends with boys who shared his interests in rule breaking and gaining power. He learned of his heritage and desired greatly to be considered a pureblood. He excelled in his studies and was invited to join Professor Slughorn’s Slug Club. While at school he began to gain followers who would some day be known as Death Eaters.
When he was sixteen he opened the Chamber of Secrets and unleashed a horrible monster upon several of the Mudbloods at school. Dumbledore threatened to close the school to which Tom realized he would have to return to that awful orphanage so he framed an oaf by the name of Rubeus Hagrid to take the fall for the murders and closed the Chamber forever. He graduated the following year after extracting information from his Head of House concerning Horcruxes. He then began his quest to split his soul into several pieces so that he could become immortal. After creating six horcruxes he returned to Hogwarts seeking a job as the Professor of Defense Against the Dark Arts. Dumbledore was aware of Riddle’s aspirations to make the school for those of pure blood and ancestry and declined him the position.
Enraged, Tom left Hogwarts and banded together with his followers. Having already taken the name Lord Voldemort while at school he coined his followers to be called Death Eaters and together they began their reign as powerful dark wizards. By 1976 he’d gained tremendous power and incredibly loyal followers.
