MELISANDE ADAIR

FRIENDS AND ALLIES
Despite the fact that Melisande is a reasonably charming, witty young woman, she does not maintain a particularly wide or varied circle of friends. In fact the majority of people that wind up under this category will likely be fellow staff members of Hogwarts or Ministry officials. She treats her students kindly of course but ensures that her relationship with them remains professional at all times. There may be some who look up to her for her sense of strong independence and compassion, though she does not believe in favoritism of any kind. She respects those with a zest for life, and people who aren't afraid to voice their opinions and beliefs. She enjoys philosophical debate, spending time outdoors and caring for the magical creatures that venture out from the Forbidden Forest. Anyone with an affinity for animals or music normally have an easy time befriending this generally elusive, difficult young woman.
ENEMIES AND RIVALS
In short, anyone associated with the Death Eaters, students who are loud and obnoxious in class, pushovers and cowards, liars and irresponsible staff. She can't tolerate weakness - whether she sees it in herself or in others - and makes a valiant effort to train an individual to make use of their strengths as opposed to dwelling on their weaknesses. She does enjoy good banter however, and has come to establish many love/hate relationships in the past. It seems she too easily finds flaws in others and sets impossible standards that she herself remains unable to meet. There could be certain Professors who don't appreciate her overly strict approach to teaching or her uptight attitude, a handful of students are likely to dislike her for handing out too much homework and her father's associates have probably been searching for her for the past year; their intentions hardly positive ones.
LOVERS AND FLINGS
This will be fairly limited. As you can imagine, Melisande suffered through a tumultuous and abusive relationship with her father for many years before she finally broke free from his tyranny and escaped with her mother. They were forced to change their names for the sake of anonymity and then attempted to live a fairly normal life. Due to this, Melisande harbors an underlying resentment for most men and has adopted a fairly feministic attitude as a result. She believes herself to be their superior and it takes quite a deal before she'll admit having respect for them. However, this isn't to say a romantic relationship is impossible. She's still physically attracted to the male gender and will flirt when she feels particularly bored. A serious relationship will take time however. Let me know if you have any ideas!
