The only good sound he could recall from the day was the clinking of the gold coins dropping into his secret hiding place. Not like he needed more of the round disks, but that he hoarded it for his own pleasure made him smile even more. The purchase had gone on exactly how he had planned it. The greedy little Slytherin third year had thought he was getting a bargain on the items Eric had sold him. Little did the buyer know, the items were stolen. What was even more thrilling to Eric, the items were stolen from a professor, and would surely be searched for. Nothing would lead back to Eric, it was all done in a round about way, with the use of a House Elf. Sneering, Eric tied his small pouch and inserted it back into the hole in the wall. He stood up, and stretched making sure to glance around the dorm without seeming to look at anything at all. He was sneaky, and often liked to mislead common onlookers by doing things that was totally out of line with his true intentions. Everything in his life revolved around making others believe things that were not true. Much like his friendly nature, it was all an act to gain him the things he desired the most.
He sighed, and covered his mouth with a hand. No one was around and boredom would soon set in. Eric decided that the Slytherin dorms and common room would no longer hold any entertainment for him. He casually left the dorm, and strolled past a group of younger Slytherins. They were watching out the port window as a group of mermen swam by. Eric always found it a little disorientating that the Slytherin rooms were under the Dark Lake. His sharp eyes peered over the shoulder of one student as he moved by. He sniffed loudly, and exited the common room to the dark dungeons beyond. Eric had no clue where he was going to go, he had no appointments until later in the day when he would exchange information with a Gryffindor who thought he was a friend. Eric grinned at how easily he made others comfortable around him. Some people actually thought he was a nice guy. Nothing could be further from the truth. He suppressed a giggle, and turned to mount the stairs to the first floor.
His plot to turn muggle items into gold, and then in turn turn the gold into muggle money to buy more muggle items was running along smoothly. He felt it was almost genious in it's execution. He had only one person to deal with, until he captured another person in his web of profit. Fortunately for him, he had encountered a certain Hufflepuff girl and intended to use the full force of his charm to bring her into his plots. He had always said that this plan was as easy as taking candy from a first year Hufflepuff; but, taking candy from a older Hufflepuff had been found to be just as simple. The girl was charming in her own way. Her looks were top notch, and her accent was perfect for what he wanted to use her for... Although he had issues in understanding her, he would never let on like he was confused aobut anything she might say. He smiled to himself as he moved out to the Great Hall and peeked in. Nothing of interest was present, so he decided to head out the large doors and see what might be creeping around in the wonderful Spring air.
Actually, Eric had an idea. He had a business partner of sorts that he wished to speak with. She was not as business-like as he wished, but she was very attractive, and her mind thought like his around most corners. She was one of the very few people who knew about Eric's true nature and distaste of other people in general. Of course she did not know everything about him, but just enough for him to feel comfortable being totally honest with her. He went to seek out his fellow Slytherin Cassiopeia Dolohov, whom he loving refered to as simply Cassdo. He had no idea where she might be, but she had not been in either the Great Hall or the Slytherin common room. He decided since he was going to wander the grounds, he might as well keep an eye out for the lithe vixen. He began to whistle a tune as he walked. The bright day was perfect, and his mood soon followed.

A sigh emitted from the Slytherin's lips as her eyes fluttered shut, her body stretched out along the grass under a shady tree, head resting atop her bag. The sun was overbearing this morning and she'd be damned if she'd be caught in its heat. A customary roll of the eyes was found at the thought of sunshine though she couldn't help but chuckle at her negative state of mind. For as long as she could remember, she had never liked going outside too often, unless it was for a smoke. Even then, the sun's overpowering nature soon sent her inside, forcing her to smoke in the confines of her dorm, though she didn't care too much. She'd rather smoke inside and avoid the unexpected conversations with passersby, who often stuck their nose up at her smoking. For some reason, however, she felt her time would be best spent on the grounds for even she had to admit she had spent far too much time holed up in the Slytherin Common Room. It was nice to be outside but she desperately hoped the clouds would shield the sun's gaze and leave her shaded.
Rummaging around in her bag, she grabbed a cigarette, placing it between her lips before sparking it up. She inhaled nicotine, relishing in the sweet cancer that she was sure was filling her lungs. Course, maybe with witches it was different and she'd still live longer. It honestly didn't matter one way or another to her, she had to die sometime, right? Hues of bright blue were revealed as her eyelids opened, surveying the tree that obstructed her vision of the sky. The leaves were a lovely colour, depicting the spring atmosphere that hung in the air. It was comforting and she took another drag of her cigarette, crossing her left ankle over her right, black heels resting atop a rather large protruding root extending from the tree. Cassie smoothed out the wrinkles in her bronze colored dress, picking off any stray pieces of dirt that dared to lay upon her skin. A smirk wrapped around her lips, bringing the cigarette to rest between her lips once more as she inhaled.
Blowing out a cloud of smoke, the majority of it in the form of 'O's,' she glanced up at the sound of a scoff of disapproval. Her gaze focused upon a group of Slytherins, though they looked a year younger than her, who all wore the same expression of contempt. Her smirk merely deepened as she sat up, body weight resting against one hand. Her fingers wiggled playfully in a wave before she blew a kiss their way. As was to be expected, they all carried the same air to them, each rolling their eyes at the display, one of them mouthing off about her 'lack of respect' before turning on their heels and finally leaving her be. A chuckle escaped her lungs, amused by the events displayed before her. Resuming her original position, she puffed up her bag a bit to make it more comfortable to rest her head on before she layed down once more, feeling the comfort in the air enveloping her with its embrace. Though she wouldn't dare admit it, it was rather peaceful outside, and she smirked before taking another drag, pondering what the day held in store for her.

She was not hard to find. He had thought he might search for her for hours in his passing, but there she was in one of her favorite spots. He long legs out in front of her, her head resting on a bag, and a cigarette in her mouth. He had seen her here so many more times than he could count, and to be honest Eric could count a lot. He paused just out of her line of vision to watch her. His hazel eyes moved over her not once, but a few times. She had been a perfect choice for a secret business partner. Her soft looks, and perfect curves could get him into situations that his own silver tongue could ever allow. Her looks were top notch, and had gained them no small profit on more than one deal. She had a feminine way that could make most men melt under her icy gaze. He admired her, more than he should; but, business was business and no amount of longing would come between Eric and the coin he so desired. Let others fall under her spell, he would simply sit back and reap the benefits.
After a moment he approached and did not announce himself. He simply moved through the lightly blowing wind and sat down on the cool grass. His legs bent at the knees as he wrapped his arms around them and stared off into the distance. The best thing to do when dealing with her was to act like you were not interested. Eric felt that this might keep her off her guard, and not allow her to use her strong sexuality on him. He could never show one iota of weakness when it came to Cassdo. She was like a poisoned arrow that could home in on weakness and completely take advantage. This was probably why he liked her so much, as much as he could allow himself to ever like anyone. He was silent for a few minutes as the wind picked up and then died down. Sweet smells of spring rolled through the air, picked up his hair to blow it across his shoulders, and the fade away behind him like a dream.
Finally, "Well I have a new deal going on. I was not going to tell anyone, but I figured you would appreciate this one more than I might even enjoy telling it. That is if you have the time to listen." It was not a question. There was no real point in asking her a question as it was always better to get straight to the point when dealing with his fellow Slytherin. She was not exactly the 'get-to-know-you' small-talk sort of girl. He almost smiled to himself when he thought of how often he bothered her by beating around the bush. It had always been a point of amusement for him to talk in riddles while her frustration grew. He could never recall a time she had blown-up at his behaviors; but, there was more than one encounter that left him knowing her sarcastic side was just as sharp as his. He finally looked down to her, and nodded. His green toned eyes sparkled in the light of the dropping sun.
"I am smuggling muggle items in to sell for gold. I am taking that gold to a... friend, and he is taking it to melt down. The melted gold is then turned into bars, sold for muggle money which in turn buys more muggle crap that sells for gold here. A perfect circle that gains me almost sixty percent per transaction. Want in?" He did not bother telling her about the muggle dollars he was storing away. He did not think she would need to know about his plans for after graduation. It was none of her business, and did not hold any bearings on the current offer he was making to her. She should be smart enough to know that he would want her to do something in return, but he would get to that once she showed interest in his plan... Then, he would nail her hook, line, and sinker. Eric turned his attention back to the horizon.

The breeze had picked up, enveloping her in its cool embrace, reminding her very much so of the icyness that caged her own heart. She didn't dare think of such things for there wasn't a point, it wouldn't lead to a solution, not that it needed one. She shook her head, hoping to clear her mind of any thoughts in the process, a finger delicately pushing a stray strand of hair behind her ear. She resumed her earlier position, knowing she wouldn't be able to escape her thought process if she was in an uncomfortable position, eyes fluttering shut as she tried to paint a calming picture behind her eyelids. Unfortunately, there wasn't really a place that she was aware of that was anywhere near relaxing, except perhaps the Slytherin Common Room in the early ebbs of the morning where she was free to smoke a cigarette without a prying eye judging her every movement, everyone being asleep. She felt lucky at times to be an insomniac, it helped ease her intake of peaceful moments before having to deal with her peers.
Cassie felt as if there was a presence near her and bright blue eyes were revealed as their gaze focused on her fellow Slytherin. He wrapped his arms around his legs merely staring out across the lake, looked as disinterested as ever. A smirk graced the corners of her lips, bringing her focus back to the ceiling of trees above her, the silence blanketing their forms in a coccoon of safety. Here, at least the sun wouldn't beat down harshly against her pale skin, here, she didn't have to deal with incessant chattering. Eric was good company in the sense that he didn't speak unless it was imperative or unless he felt she needed to know whatever information was spewing from his mouth. He kept their conversations to business matters only, though there had been a time or two where they joked around (in their own way of course) where Eric took it upon himself to use vague descriptions to describe what he wanted which only lead to frustration billowing inside her, though she didn't play into his hands and show any emotion, as was to be expected. The game wouldn't be any fun if she crumbled and showed him some sign of vulnerability, that would ruin everything.
The silence was interrupted as Eric spoke of a new deal he had that he hadn't spoken about to anyone and was willing to tell her if she cared to listen. Her smirk deepened as her eyes met his own, an eyebrow raising in question as she nodded, body language certainly expressing that she wished to hear more. She propped herself up on her hands, leaning back before taking a drag of her cigarette, gaze unwavering. She appreciated that he hadn't asked it in the form of a question, knowing better than to beat around the bush with her, as he had learned priorly in lashing from her poisoned tongue. She listened intently to his plan, though her face didn't protray any sense of anticipation. She knew better than to show any interest in the plans he devised for then he would get cocky and think she'd go for any plan he brought to the table. No, she much preferred keeping him on his toes and so merely watched him, inhaling smoke and releasing the majority of it in the form of 'O's,' thankful the wind had died down.
She considered his offer, mulling it about in her head, facade up and in check. She figured it made sense, but with Eric, things were never simple. There was always a hidden ulterior motive, something he wasn't telling you about that he was really saving for himself. It wasn't too surprising, especially since he was a Slytherin after all and these kinds of traits were prized and admired among peers. Placing her cigarette under her heel in the grass, she grinded it almost to a fine grind before her eyes fell upon Eric once more, regarding him for a moment. She simply nodded in response to his' asking if she wanted in, leaning back against the trunk of the tree before casually smoothing out her dress, eyes never leaving Eric's. This was all just a game of cat and mouse, though they switched roles almost constantly. She assumed that's why they got on so well, they were both rather similar in approaches and styles of thinking and neither gave a fuck about anyone else. As business partners they fared well, though she would never admit such a triumph, she would never show such a face of weakness.

He already knew how she would answer, but he had expected words from her. It was not the first time he got the silent treatment from this one. It was like a game to her, he was well aware. It did not matter, none of it really mattered. She would do what was required and together they would gain more profit with each passing second. There was nothing new in his strategy. When he wanted someone by his side that he could almost trust with his money, it would be here. He just would remember to never trust her with anything else. She always did her part, and did it well. This would be no exception. Nothing really ever changed when it came to her, and that was a sign of a good business partner. Surprises might be fine for lovers, and enemies; but, business should never be a surprise, and he knew that she would stay the course. He was perfectly fine with allowing that to be the normal.
He watched her crush her cigarette, and then play with her dress. Her eyes never left him, and he knew why. No, she was not attracted to him, or if she was he had never seen a sign from her. She was watching him because she was smart enough to know he had not told her the whole story. There were no lies, only truths that were hidden. It was none of her concern about what he was doing beyond those things he required her to do. Everything else was his problem, and he would deal with them in time. She would be fine not knowing, and if he ever felt the need to tell her it would not even matter in the first place. She would have little to no interest in any other aspect of his life behind the art of the deal. He knew how her mind worked, and he was pleased she was on his side of the deal.
He thought to tell her of the Hufflepuff girl he met, then decided that would not be a great idea. She would not care that he was dealing with one of that house, but he decided that the information might just be too valuable to share. After all, the Hufflepuff did not know about her, or his American contact, nor where his part of the gold went after he collected it. These were the lines of string that all connected exactly where he wanted them to connect. When he had to deal with loose ends, he alone would know where to cut. Eric enjoyed having that control. He enjoyed having the right hand remain clueless about what the left hand was doing. It was part of the intrigue, the magic, the painting of business that was his masterpiece. So, he kept his lips sealed. Two can play the silence game, and this would be no different.
He turned his attention back to the dark lake, and remained silent. She had agreed, what more was their to discuss between the two? Nothing really. When it was time for him to tell her more, he would. If there was no need to tell her more, then he would stay quiet on all the other matters. He did smile lightly under his arm, and glance back to her. She was a good business partner, almost perfect. She was not him, but she could be close with a little more training. He would never tell her, but he was proud of her. She had come a long way from her mood and personalities being nothing but her attitude. Since dealing with him she turned those attributes into a talent, an art, and they had both made coin off that. He imagined it would not be long before she went off on her own, made her own money, and left him out of it altogether. He would not mind, in fact it might be thrilling to have her as a competitor. For now, however, she was his partner... and the game was afoot.
Tagg; Cassdo/Effin' Effie! Muse; Decent Notes; I think I caught a cold, and I feel like butt. Not literally, of course. I hope this was not too short, and is workable.
