Kaine lounged across one of the armchairs, long legs draped over one side. He held in one hand an opened envelope, and in the other the letter that said envelope had contained. A small frown creased his brow as he read through the contents, slightly perturbed at what he was reading.
It was a letter from home. Nothing particularly unusual in that; his mother quite often wrote to him to find out how he was getting on and if he needed anything. She sometimes included snippets of what was happening at home, but not very often. She knew Kaine would not be interested in the slightest about what his father was up to, and she was not one to talk about herself, therefore her letters were more aimed at finding out how her son was rather than how things were back home.
This letter however, was different. His father had apparently had some form of accident, and was currently being treated for it in hospital. His mother was clearly distressed, but was trying not to show it too much in her letter. She was basically informing Kaine of his fathers situation, and making doubly sure that both her children were ok at Hogwarts.
Kaine did feel a slight twinge of guilt however. He was not at all close to his father, and even though he was ill in hospital, his feelings did not waver one bit. His main concern was for his mother Larena, who he knew would not be comfortable in the house by herself. Not that there was much he could do about it, but he worried nonetheless.
Sighing irritably as he finished reading, he slid the letter back into the envelope and let his head flop back against the arm of the chair, drumming his fingers against his stomach as he thought things over. He had to tell his sister of course, but what her reaction would be he didn't know.
As far as he was concerned, nothing was any different, and he was pretty sure his father would be back home again soon, ruling the roost as always. A small smirk formed upon his face; his father really was a prat.

The day had been fine until the last lesson of the afternoon. Potions. A class Integra usually enjoyed very much. This day however was going to get the best of her nerves. The professor had found it appropriate, for some ungodly reason, to pair her up with none other than Rabastan Lestrange. Normally Teggy found the Lestrange boys to be rather handsome and thought she’d actually get on well with them. But after one slightly drunken run in with the youngest brother, Integra thought maybe they were a little stuck up. At least Rabastan was. Of course a part of her still very much would have liked to take her clothes off for him, but that was an urge she was suppressing with copious amounts of meaningless sex with other males that caught her eye at any given second. Rabastan seemed to know how to get under her skin. Mostly because half his insults were right. She was a sloppy mess of a drunken sleaze. Integra knew it. So did most of the men she dragged into back alleyways. Never the less she did not want to be partnered with him for this project. And naturally, they had to bicker about it all the way back to the common room. ”Look, it’s not like I picked you. If I had my choice I’d rather be partnered with an erumpent okay? With your damn temper it’s almost the same thing.” She muttered the last part under her breath as made her way into the common room. Rabastan was walking quickly along beside her as her edgy curls bounced mercilessly around her shoulders. From an outsider’s view point, it looked as if the darkened pair would be a dangerous duo. If only they could get along well enough to focus their efforts. Integra alone looked like something you wouldn’t want to meet on your evening jog. The slender witch’s eyes pierced your very soul; her laugh could boil the very blood in your veins. All in all, she looked like she’d eat you whole if she got the chance. After playing with you for a little while of course. As she sauntered in, she dropped her bag into an arm chair and rounded on Rabastan as a boy caught her eye. She looked him over quickly. Not someone she’d bedded. For once. Shaking her head a little she turned back to Rabastan and raised an eyebrow at him. The boy was still in her peripherals as she looked up at a man she once adored. With squared shoulders she turned only her head once more, with a malicious grin on it to the boy. ”I’m wonderfully sorry that you have to hear his shrill compliments to me. It must be sickening to you how much he just adores me!” She let out a little giggle and looked back to Rabastan. {Word Count} 479 {Tags} Kaine, Rabastan {Clothes} Click!!{Comments} This could be interesting.

His eyes followed her as it seemed like they raced to the common rooms. What went through his mind was how someone as idiotic could mess up one of the easiest potions. "I'd atleast hoped that my partner had some sort of common sense, it's not that hard to a make a Mandrake Draught!" Hissing at her they stepped into the common room, and the boy didn't even catch his attention, he was still pissed off that they failed at making one of the easiest potions in the known world. One thing did catch his eye though, her hair, Rabastan knew the easiest way to break the barriers of his heart and that was long, soft and curly hair, but he wasn't ready to show that to her yet. Drunkeness could be handled with the digging of a hole(s), without magic mind you, atleast that's what his father happened to do whenever he was caught, 'Drunk? Grab the shovel it's time to learn your place.' it was always the same, and some things wouldn't change. "My temper?" Raising an eyebrow toward her he let out a laugh, "you're saying I have a temper and all I'm saying is you suck at potion making!" His laugh turned out something fierce and a little dark, after all it was difficult to actually find something this funny. Finally his eyes turned to the other kid in the room he was in the same year as the both of them and he recognized him, but wasn't quite familiar with him. Coughing a little at her comment, it made him laugh even harder, and soon he was holding his stomach. "You're bloody INSANE!" Finally able to sit down he took his jacket off and slumped it over the back of the plush chair and leaned back with his foot across his leg at the ankle, and he started to tie back his long hair. "Compliments, I'd rather compliment my own mother on birthing me, which unfortunately, I am very ungrateful for, at the moment, since I had to meet you in my lifetime." A sneer started to play at his lips and he looked over at Kaine. "What are you smirking at anyway? Not to change the subject or anything."word count: 401 clothing: Clickith!comments: It is rather weird typing Kaine, since I play him in a different Role-Play xD!

The pair that had just entered the room were people Kaine recognised, but were not on familiar terms with. The fact they were arguing and throwing insults at each other was really rather entertaining. He stayed where he was, quite happy to watch things play out for a while. The letter he slipped into a pocket, already forgotten. When the boy questioned him, Kaine simply gave a nonchalant shrug, the motion effortless and easy. "Just reading something," he answered, swinging his legs over and sitting upright instead of lounging. "Nothing important. It sounds like you two are having a much more interesting afternoon than me." He sat back again, one foot crossing the opposite leg so he was comfortable. He could feel the letter getting rumpled in his pocket, but he paid it no heed. He was more interested in what was going to happen between these two; there was clearly tension there, but it was always fun watching other people blow up during arguments whilst you were stood on the sidelines. Made you feel just a tiny bit better about yourself somehow, to know you weren't arguing with someone. At least, not right at that moment. "What's with the insults anyway?" he asked, purely out of curiosity. "If you don't mind me asking that is." Might as well try a conversation. Slytherins weren't exactly renowned for their communcation skills, but it was always worth a try. {Word Count} 237 (Bear with me....it's nearly 1am here xD) {Comments} I love the name Kaine! Heh heh Nice to meet you guys lol.

Integra looked furiously at Rabastan. Before she could really react to a lot of what he’d said, the raised tempers and hot heads had carried on from insult to insult. The boy she’d smiled at was clearly aware of this by now, but at that moment Integra was focused on Rabastan. His jaw line to be exact. It was perfect. His body was strong. She’d been studying him the whole class period. She very well knew how to make a mandrake drought. It was baby stuff and Integra was much smarter than that. No, it was not a lack of knowledge that made her fail today’s lesson. It was a lack of concentration. Why you ask? His biceps that’s why. She could see them pressing against the sleeves of his shirt as he worked. It made her heart race. This of course made her nauseous because no one made her heart race. It was not allowed. But he was doing a fantastic job of it. With his subtle facial hair. Those blisteringly gorgeous eyes. Integra never thought she’d swoon, but she was a little. However she’d come to know him as a bit of an ass and would not let herself be made a fool. ”Like I said…. He…” She looked between the boys and pursed her lips a little. With a little glare she looked to Rabastan as she spoke to the other boy. ”Rabastan here cannot seem to contain his irrepressible desire to bed me.” She looked at the boy and smiled. Yes she’d made it about him! That had been close she almost blurted out how he was such a disturbance to her studying. Lucky for Integra she’d managed to turn it around again. A part of her wished it was true but that was beside the point. Looking back to the upstanding slytherin boy Integra brushed a lock of her hair behind her ears. Her hair smelled thickly of a mixture of honey and the perfume released from the flowers of a bloodroot plant. Something she had made up for her. It had to be magically enhanced so as not to destroy her scalp. As bloodroot’s toxins deteriorated animal flesh, leaving ugly scars and disfigurations on the victim. None the less it was a pleasant smell. ”Listen Rabastan…The unit is almost over okay? And once it’s over you never have to see me or talk to me again.” Eyeing the other boy again, Integra contemplated the likely hood of having already slept with him. She was pretty sure she hadn’t. But did see another opportunity to throw an insult Rabastan’s way. ”There’s a bit of paper falling out of your pocket. Best pick it up lest you want certain people… Her eyes darted to Rabastan then back to Kaine. ”to find it. These certain people often like to be total asses about personal things.” Her lips curled into a snicker as she crossed her arms and let her amber colored eyes bore into Rabastan’s. He was utterly gorgeous. Even when he was irritated with her. {Word Count} 510 {Tags} Rabastan and Kaine {Clothes} Click!!{Comments} Sorry it took so long. I suck I know! Lol!!!

Annoyed, was a way to put it, he had to deal with her during the last class session, the walk back to the dungeons and now she just won't go away. Taking a deep breath Rabastan began to rock his foot on his knee and shook his head. Looking over at Kaine he smiled politely, to be honest the kid happened to inherit some good looks, not that his closet door swung that way, just making note that he would not have any issues in the future. Rab could feel Integra's eyes boring into him, but there wasn't much he could do, shrugging it off, his lips curled into a smile. The attention was something he liked, obviously, since his older brother always held the spotlight. "Much more interesting, if you're into this sort of thing," speaking with a laugh he, again, shook his head.
Just as he was going to answer, why they were constantly insulting each other Integra piped up and he groaned. '...irrepressible desire to bed...' Nah, more like the irrepressible urge to laugh, and that is exactly what came about him. It started out more of a chuckle. Then shortly turned into a full cackle. Leaning his head back he howled with laughter, holding onto his stomach. "You've got to be kidding! Bed you? Who knows how many diseases you have from all the others you've managed to sing into your slumbering sack you siren!" Another howl of laughter exploded from the young mans vocals, slumping down he started to cough, caught up in his hysterics.
"Let's be honest Integra, I'd much rather bed Alice Hallows, than the sleaze type you are, clearly neither of you stand a chance, considering I would never stoop that low," he stretched out his arms and cocked an eyebrow toward Kaine. "Besides, Slughorn likes to have his way, seeming as the classroom is rather uncomfortable anyway," she switched subjects quickly and that sort of pissed him off, but more so glad that the conversation had shifted. He couldn't care any-less about his partner in potions, he'd rather have a competent one than one who couldn't keep her bloody eyes off of him, he noticed, but he never said anything, to focused on getting the brew perfected.
Noticing that she spoke about a small peeping tom of paper and him being a rumorist, Rabastan couldn't help but shake his head. "Unlike women, we, as men, do not find the need to spread gossip, unless you're the ruddy Marauders. To be blunt, I don't even know what she is talking about, I don't understand why she insists that I would procure a fellow Slytherin's personal object and exhibit it in a boisterous way, trust me Kaine, I'm not that sort of gentleman." Now this was becoming far more interesting. The pair were bickering like a pair of immature first years, and Kaine couldn't help but be amused by this. They obviously had issues of their own to deal with, and he certainly wasn't interested in getting involved. But it was still rather fun to watch from the sidelines. It also gave one a nice warm feeling inside to know that for once, no one seemed to have a problem with oneself. He then mentally slapped himself for referring to himself as 'one'. He absently pushed the letter further into his pocket after they had noticed it. "It's only a letter...nothing of interest or importance," he answered, giving a small nonchalant shrug. "Wouldn't be worth reading anyway." Kaine smiled gently at both of them, the corners of his lips turned up just enough to look friendly, but not too much so. He was more than up for conversation, but did not want to be seen as taking sides. In a situation such as this, it wouldn't be the best choice to make. Standing up, he stretched his arms behind his back, feeling small clicks run all the way up his spine as he did so. Letting out a small sigh of relief, he said, "That's better...these chairs really start to lose their comfort after a while. I swear it's done on purpose so we can't lounge for too long." A complete change of topic...just to see if it would stop the bickering. Kaine was your usual Slytherin; any excuse for an argument was fine, but it wasn't always great to have them constantly. Although this seemed like a pretty regular occurance between these two, as the insults being hurled back and forth seemed quite personal. The comments being made about Integra for example, were really quite degenerate, and a bit below the belt if he were being honest. He wasn't going to say so out loud; he didn't know either of them well enough to become so involved, but it still seemed a little much seeing as the argument was over something so small and simple as a task from Potions. "You guys finished for the day then?" he asked, still trying to keep the conversation as neutral as possible. Pushing his hair back from his face he smiled again, hoping to try and ease the tension somewhat that had come into the room. {word count: 401} {comments: sorry for such slow reply - I've been ill and had no Internet xD It's been a crappy few weeks }
