She didn’t know how their professor could carry Sirius up the hill to the castle and then to the hospital ward right after he had been hurt as bad as he had. The kick hadn’t been seen by her but the after affect had been and Silvanus had to have at least one broken bone. To be honest, she was grateful he’d saved her, but he was still injured badly and so when they he took Sirius up to the hospital wing she followed dutifully. As if there was any other option when one of her best friends was hurt so badly. Lena had glimpsed his face and she knew Sirius wouldn’t be happy about his ‘pretty face’ being so messed up but at least it would be healed a lot faster with magic than it would normally. Even though their professor infuriated her to no limit lately, no one deserved to be hit like that. She almost wanted to call a stretcher and force Kettleburn to lay on it while she directed them both up to the castle but that certainly wouldn’t go over well so Lena left well enough alone.
As to be expected, once they got to the hospital wing, Madam Pomfrey flew into action and while telling their teacher off for making them do their detention she worked on making Sirius better. Her own gaze kept darting to Silvanus as he looked like one nice wind would knock him out and wanted to go push him into a chair or something but Pomfrey probably wouldn’t appreciate it much if she interfered so she just stood to the side and watched both of the men, hoping things weren’t too bad. Once Sirius was tucked into his little hospital bed she immediately walked toward it, needed to be at his side and making sure he really was ok. Before she could take two steps Kettleburn walked past her and gave her orders for her last detention, without looking at her no less.
She gasped and glared after him, annoyed that he actually planned for her to do something else and that he hadn’t even had the decency to look at her while he spoke to her. But then he was gone and she was at Sirius’ side, looking down at him long closely, just long enough to notice the steady rise and fall of his chest so he was breathing just fine. Once that was checked she turned and nodded to Madam Pomfrey as the woman told her not to stay long, knowing she would stay no matter what and might as well allow it, and then the nurse left leaving her to sit and curl up into the chair besides the hospital bed once she cast a cleaning charm on herself so she wouldn’t look completely terrible or smell of anything from the forest. And, with that, she set her chin on her hand while curled up and just listened to Sirius for any sign of his waking up, lost in her own thoughts otherwise. She would be there for a while.

Getting headbutted in the stomach by the Thestral had hurt Sirius enough. Due to the fact that he couldn't see the creatures, he hadn't known how large it was and how much it would knock the air out of him. It wasn't like he had thought them to be the size of a Golden Retriever by any means, it was just that he had forgotten that they were as large or larger than an average horse. Sirius had barely recovered from getting the wind knocked out of him when he felt a hoof against his face. The pain was so intense, but only lasted a few seconds before everything went black.
Next thing Sirius knew, he was dreaming. He didn't know what exactly he was dreaming about, as one dream seemingly just drifted into another seamlessly. He saw Lena for sure a few times, he saw Silvanus, and he also saw some of the Marauders. What he saw wasn't exactly the point, he found. It was more of what he felt. He felt a range of different emotions, from betrayal to happiness to confusion. He kept feeling like he was going to wake up, but a few of the times he felt cold, then he would feel a searing pain and pass back out. The dreams came back, but once he started to feel like he'd wake back up again, he realized he was comfortable. The pain was still there, but it was a bit numbed. He opened his grey eyes just a tad and his vision was fuzzy. He kept trying to open them, but felt immensely tired. He kept trying until he realized that someone was sitting next to him. It wasn't like he had forgotten what had happened, but for some reason he hadn't expected Lena to be there.
"So, how bad's the damage?" he asked in a strained voice. His lips felt funny when he spoke. He made an attempt at a grin, despite the fact that it hurt. He paused for a few moments as he waited for the pain to subside again. He didn't know that getting kicked in the face by essentially a horse would hurt so bad. He knew that the one hoof had gotten him in the nose, so he assumed that the other hoof may have gotten him in the cheek or chin or mouth.
"Are you okay?" he asked. Lena appeared to be a big blur, so he couldn't tell if she had any injuries. They couldn't have been too bad, considering she wasn't laying in a bed next to him. He felt a bit ashamed that he had passed out. He didn't even bother asking about Kettleburn, considering the whole thing had been his fault anyways. What kind of Professor handed off an angry invisible horse to someone who couldn't see him? The man was daft.

After all the excitement she just felt drained and exhausted but she was determined to stay in the hospital wing until Sirius woke up and after checking on him. If she left she would never forgive herself and neither would any of the other Marauders. They would already be angry enough that she didn’t tell them the instant Sirius got hurt but, honestly, it was better this way. The young Black needed to rest before suddenly being bombarded with questions and trying to think up a story on how he so bravely saved her and the professor from almost certain doom or something.
At first she didn’t hear him waking up, her mind still in that limbo state between sleep and wakefulness but then she noticed that his eyes were open and he was moving. Lena gasped softly and popped up out of her chair, moving to stand directly beside him, watching him blink for a moment. “Hey,” was her first word, spoken softly because he probably was in huge pain everywhere including his head and it was late as well. So quiet would definitely be her choice of action. At his first question her lips quirked up and she tried not to laugh a bit, amused that he was still a bit blurry eyed but unable to blame him. Then he did something with his busted lips which she could only guess was supposed to be something like a smile and she did smile and leaned against the side of the bed so she could talk easier. “Broken nose, busted lip, two black eyes, a few scratches, just a bunch of nasty things. But don’t worry, Madam Pomfrey already poured Skele-gro down your throat along with salves for your black eyes and such. You should be ok by morning she said but you know her. She might keep you all of tomorrow too.”
Unable to help herself, needing the connection to him, she reached out and gently brushed his hair out of his face. “I’m fine, don’t worry. I just wasn’t about to leave you alone in here. Professor Kettleburn stopped the thestral before it could get near me.” She looked him over before glancing to the water pitcher on the table beside them. “Do you need some water? I know Skele-gro aftertaste but be terrible.” The joke was a weak one but it would hopefully work all the same so he would just relax and finish healing. James would kill her if she didn’t take care of him now. Not that it was a hardship or an issue but still.

Sirius felt like Lena felt a little... stressed. Then again, how wouldn't she have been? If he had seen what had happened to him happen to her - well, he sure as hell wouldn't be calm in that moment. Then again, he didn't know it had been hours that he had been in the hospital wing. Regardless, Sirius' temper could last a fair bit of time, and that was something that everyone knew. If it had happened to her, Sirius would no doubt have had a few choice words to have with Professor Kettleburn. It was funny to Sirius how he always had a place of respect for the man, and now it just went out the window. To be honest, Sirius wasn't even sure why. He didn't think it was just because of the injuries that he sustained. Really, he was glad Lena wasn't hurt. But then again, maybe that's what irked Sirius. Sirius was very visibly injured, Silvanus was hurt, yet Lena walked out unscathed.
"I guess the ladies won't be flocking to my bed any time soon, then," Sirius joked. It wasn't like he wanted them to, anyways. The only person he really cared to be there, was. It was a thought that Sirius hadn't expected to have, but it was in the forefront of his mind. His mates would joke and laugh and mostly write the whole thing off. Lena on the other hand - she wouldn't overdo the situation, but at the same time she'd care about him. It was something that he hadn't experienced before. Yes, his mates would care, but it wasn't the same. Right now, he had someone who would care about his situation until he was better, not until she found out he was better. Perhaps it was the potion he took kicking in, but Sirius felt a bit sentimental. He wouldn't express this, however, but he couldn't help but look at Lena's face for just a little too long. "Any chance there's a mirror laying around you could hold up for me?"
Sirius was very prepared for any comment about how vain he was, and he didn't care. He hoped it would put a smile on her face. In the very least, it would give him a moment to remove the look on his face that he knew he had - or at least, he'd have if his face wasn't all busted up. For all he knew, he was showing absolutely no emotion at all. That would be fine, too.
Sirius paused for several moments and touched his face lightly. Very tender. He didn't really want to be seen like this. He couldn't help but wonder if it made him look vulnerable or weak.
Sirius cleared his throat, "Yeah, water would be great."
As she left his bedside, Sirius couldn't help but feel unexplained annoyance with the Professor. Of course he helped Lena. Of course he saved her. What about Sirius, on the other hand? Kettleburn had enough time to save Lena, while Sirius had been attacked not once, but twice. Where the hell was he then? By the time Lena returned, Sirius couldn't help but feel more enraged. He very much had the capabilities of making himself angrier just by thinking. He didn't want to tell Lena his thoughts in fear that she might see it as him being resentful that she hadn't been injured. It wasn't what he wanted at all. However, his mouth moved, and a different subject popped out that wasn't any better.
"So, who did you see die?"
The question had come out extremely blunt, but he couldn't help it. He could feel that his face was somewhat red from his thoughts about his Professor, and he needed to change the subject before he brought it up, and then Lena getting annoyed. She no doubt would be. As much as he thought he knew Lena, he occasionally still mistook her for any other girl and assumed that she would take it the wrong way. Except Lena hardly ever took things the wrong way, it was just Sirius didn't see that.
Although Sirius was indeed very curious about who she had seen bite the dust, he hadn't really meant to ask. At least, not like that.

Which was what she had hoped would happen. Laughter was the best medicine and he would need a few good laughs considering the other Marauders wouldn’t be allowed to visit him for a while. They would excite him too much and he would probably attempt escape. But with her, Madam Pomphrey and Sirius both knew that wasn’t the case. “Well, I wouldn’t say that. There are quite a few girls who have a liking for injured heroes and nursing them better. I’m sure your fangirls will still visit you.” It was, of course, just a bit of a tease and knew he would appreciate it.
At the last question she laughed softly and accio’d a mirror from the table nearby and pressed the reflective part into her belly so he couldn’t see just then. “Before I give you this, keep in mind. It will go away in about a day. Then you’ll be the same sexy Sirius Orion Black all over again.” And with that she turned the mirror and angled it so he would be able to see himself that was being hidden by the rest. Her left hand held the mirror up for balance as she spoke to him again, thinking out loud really. Watching him touch his face with his own hand made her belly clench in agreement to the pain he had to have been feeing considering what had happened. At Sirius’ order for water she popped up and headed around, wanting to get that water for him so his voice and throat didn’t hurt so much.
Lena paused as she was bringing him back a glass of water, blinking in surprise. She knew he had asked before, but she hadn’t expected him to ask again so soon or in such a way. While finishing her walk back and holding the straw up so he could reach it and drink, she contemplated his face to study him and see what had brought that on. It didn’t take but a few moments for her to read him and tell that he hadn’t fully expected that question to pop out either, but he wanted to know all the same. So with a sigh she moved and sat on the edge of the bed, looking around them quickly to make sure no one else was around, before turning back to Sirius. He wanted to know and he, well, he would keep asking until she told him. So might as well tell him now and tell Remus and James later on so the same incident as before, Remus finding out about her being an orphan, didn’t happen again. Her hands linked and set in her lap as she studied Sirius for a few more seconds then spoke. “My parents. I saw my parents die. There had been an accident while we were on our way to a family trip.” Lena couldn’t help but look down and away at the ‘accident’ part, still fully blaming herself for their deaths even after all the years. “You are not to say a word about this to Remus or James or Peter until I tell them myself, alright?” Her voice was soft, so he would know she wasn’t angry, but he should at least still get the message that he better keep quiet about it. Hopefully he would be able to do that, considering his habit of speaking without forethought on if he should actually open his mouth.

Sirius unintentionally cringed at Lena's comment about girls who like fallen heroes or whatever. Normally, he would welcome the flock of them around his bed and fawn over him. He could tell his heroic tale of how he saved Lena and then was able to get back for Professor Kettleburn in the nick of time. However, when he had a perfectly sane girl right in front of him, the thought of having something otherwise almost seemed... immature. Sirius also cringed at his own thought of calling himself immature. What was the world coming to?
"Maybe that's what Madam Pomfrey is, then," Sirius joked as he looked past Lena and to where Pomfrey was nursing a different student who apparently sprouted purple blisters everywhere. "Maybe she likes to nurse injured students to the point where she made it her job. What a pervert."
Sirius shook his head in what would have been a disapproving manner if it hadn't been for the fact that it was obvious that he was kidding. Although the thought did amuse him. Within only a few seconds, Sirius was able to think up a dozen stories in his mind about what caused Pomfrey to become what she had. Perhaps she had a lover who got injured, and due to the fact that she was unable to nurse him back to health, he had died, therefore making her motivated to become better and save as many people as possible. Obviously, Hogwarts would be the logical location for her to go, considering the student-injury rate was so high. Sirius pretended like him and his mates had nothing to do with it.
When Sirius stopped daydreaming, he realized that Lena was holding a mirror for him. He had heard what she said, but the words sort of just bounced in his head momentarily. He touched his face and realized how bad it really looked. Yeah, he sort of did look like the fallen hero in this situation. Although that wasn't what happened, he was hardly the coward that had tried to run away. He had called to the others and warned them - it was that stupid prat Kettleburn's fault for putting them in such an outrageously irresponsible situation. Sirius couldn't even see the damn creatures! The more he looked at his face, the angrier he got.
"That man is a right idiot," Sirius stated, angrily. "Why in the hell didn't he give me something else to do other than to tend to the raging bull? He could have just got me to do detention a different night or got us to do something else, but no, he wanted me to be killed, probably so he could have you all alone."
When Lena returned with the water, Sirius drank generously. It felt so cool and refreshing that he had almost forgotten that he had asked a very blunt question. He looked up at her, who was now sitting at the edge of the bed, and was about to thank her when she began to speak. He drank the rest of his water in a guilty fashion, and felt admittedly sorry for asking in the first place. He was sure that she probably would have told him in time without him nagging her, but ... it hadn't been intentional for it to have slipped out.
"Yeah, of course, I won't say anything," Sirius muttered. He sort of felt like a child who had just been scolded, despite the fact that Lena hadn't yelled at him or raised her voice in any way. He paused for a few moments and made sure to look at anywhere other than Lena's face. Honestly, this was one of the reasons why Sirius avoided relationships. He hated the awkward moments where people told each other personal things. Yes, he had asked, but if they weren't so, well, close, he wouldn't have had the desire to ask. He knew that they weren't dating, but did she have any more dark secrets? Sirius thought about his own life and knew how much he didn't tell anyone. In fact, there were a few things that only James knew and not even Peter and Remus was aware of. A couple of things stayed with only Sirius. Unlike most people, Sirius didn't like telling people about his secrets. He knew it pained Lena to tell him this. Sirius would usually just change the subject or make a joke about his own dark behind-the-scenes life. If he was ever in a relationship, he doubted that he could have pillow talk about the things that he didn't want to share with anyone.
Sirius was so tempted to ask about the accident, but really, he didn't want her to cry. She had felt so uncomfortable telling him, and he didn't want to pry. Instead, he just put his hand on top of hers. He closed his eyes, simply. He wasn't not inviting more conversation, but he just wanted this part of the conversation to end, unless she wanted to speak more about it. Sirius wasn't the most understanding person in the world, and he honestly didn't know what to say. He doubted that she wanted to hear, 'I'm sorry,' or any other generic cop-out.

That would never be the truth but just hearing him say it was hilarious. When she was finally able to control herself again she turned back to him to reply, a bright smile on her full lips. “I think you’re the bigger pervert, just thinking all these thoughts. Your mind is a scary place, Sir Sirius.” She didn’t say his last name because she knew how much he hated it and his family. And she really just wanted to keep up the cheer so he would feel better and not think about what had happened before. “I think she should be thanking you and the other Marauders actually. You four keep her well placed in her job.” Her wink was just as teasing as his comments had been as she relaxed, talking to him. No matter that she hadn’t really slept, she’d rather spend time talking to him and making sure he was ok.
Once he finally got his look in the mirror she set it down on the chair she had been in, mirror side down. He didn’t need to see more of what he looked like just then. Though when he started his rant, she could only sigh and nod. What could she say? Everything he was saying she had said before and had even argued with Professor Kettleburn about it before they even started working in their detention. “I’m sure he didn’t want you to die. And I have no idea what on Earth you mean by ‘having me all alone’.” She gave him an odd look of confusion for a moment before continuing. “But I agree. I tried to tell him I should be the one with the male because I can see him but that obviously didn’t work. I’m sorry I didn’t try harder.” Moving her hand, she laid it on his gently, hoping he didn’t blame her for him getting hurt.
After admitting that she had seen her parents die, it was like a curtain of awkwardness fell over Sirius’ face, in her opinion and Lena couldn’t help but sigh slightly in that he felt bad for asking. Once she shifted again to get more comfortable on the edge of the hospital bed she gave him a small smile and shook her head while squeezing the hand he’d laid on top of hers. “Sirius, I know you didn’t mean to let the others know the first time. And you really don’t have to feel bad about asking. If I really didn’t want to let you know I would have refused to tell you. It’s ok to ask me things, and to tell me things if you ever want to do that too. But it’s not necessary if you would rather not. I will tell the others at some point. I just…..I don’t want them to treat me different. That’s all. And the same goes for you. I don’t want you to suddenly start treating me like I’m a freak or a helpless basket case or something.” Being careful, she nudged his leg with her knee gently, trying to get a smile out of him. “I mean, I’m still the same me you’ve always known. So, if you want, you can even forget I ever told you about this. If it would help.”

Sirius was glad that Lena seemed amused. Sirius could sometimes be the type who would continuously moan about how injured he was for attention - or out of anger - but right now didn't seem the time. The only times he didn't go on about it was in two situations: when it was from having fun, or because he felt guilty. In this situation, it was certainly the latter. He didn't know why exactly he felt guilty for not being able to defend himself or the others... it really wasn't his fault that he hadn't seen someone die, and therefore see the Thestrals. It was just... it was the first time that Sirius could remember that he felt incapable or weak. Usually he did well in situations that required him to think on his feet. A Slytherin trait that he had acquired was his wit. Although Sirius would always claim that he had no Slytherin in him whatsoever. Besides, since when did having 'wit' mean you had Slytherin in you?
"I am no perv-" Sirius began, and then his eyes glanced to Lena's chest. "Whoops, I think you got me."
Obviously he couldn't actually see down her shirt by any means, as she was wearing a cowl-neck top, but it got his point across anyways. He wanted Lena to think that he was fine, regardless of the bumps and bruises. He knew it was a losing battle, but it was just something in his head. He knew it was a sexist thought, but he would rather her be the damsel in distress and him looking after her. Although Sirius agreed with all the women's rights and such, he couldn't help think such things at times.
Sirius attempted to grin at Lena. "Yeah, I guess we do keep her rather busy. She likes it, though."
Sirius said it in a manner-of-fact way. He truly believed that through all the mutterings and cursing of Professors for their 'careless' teaching methods, she really did enjoy fixing up students. He also believed that she enjoyed whatever the Marauders got up to. Why else did she let them get away with so much, like right now and letting Lena stay longer than she should have?
Sirius watched as Lena put the mirror down. He kind of wished that he hadn't seen himself after all, especially due to how horrible he looked. As shallow as it seemed, Sirius always found that people looked much more injured when they were more attractive. It was like a bigger tragedy. Of course, not that he saw this as a tragedy by any means, he knew he would heal up just fine. (Although many fourth year girls may disagree.) Besides, Lena was still sitting by his side regardless of the fact that he looked like a bruised peach.
Sirius scoffed at what Lena had said. "How could you not know what I mean? If Pomfrey isn't a pervert, Kettleburn certainly is. Do you really not see how he looks at you? Besides, you must have heard the rumours from years back about how he allegedly seduced students. He didn't get fired because most of them were just rumours. The girls were too embarrassed or too infatuated to get him in trouble. Well, some speculate that he threatened them but..."
Sirius realized he was rambling so he cut himself off. He didn't know why he was getting so worked up. Lena wasn't stupid... she wasn't about to fall for such a sleezeball's tricks. He shook his head slightly to try to get his mind off of it.
"We shouldn't have been out there in the first place, I don't know what he was trying to pull," Sirius concluded rather quietly. He suddenly wished that he hadn't gulped all of his water so he could sip some now in the awkward silence. He didn't know exactly how to word what he was thinking about.
"Why would I start treating you like a basket case? I already knew you were one," Sirius teased, probably not in the most appropriate moment. He just needed some comic relief, if just for himself. He gazed over at the boy with the boils or whatever they were for a few moments to let her words sink in. He knew that the others wouldn't treat her differently. Well, James might as he might not know how to feel. Sirius, on the other hand, felt like he had been an orphan his whole life. He didn't particularly care for his family, and although he didn't voice it, he would happily trade family situations any day with her. For her to have two living, breathing parents and for Sirius to have dead ones.
Sirius looked at Lena with a half-smile on his face. "Well if you're a freak or helpless basket case for having skeletons in your closet and whatnot, then I must be a complete nutter as well."
Sirius, although maturing slightly in his later years at Hogwarts, still couldn't openly express how he was feeling. Inside he knew all the things that he was going through, but he still couldn't place words on them. Honestly, he didn't know if he would ever be able to do such things. He caught Lena's eye and hoped that she knew that this was the most comforting thing he knew how to do.

She snorted then laughed out loud at his joke. “Doesn’t exactly count as you only did it to prove your point. Good job on that one either way though.” Maybe he was getting better, trying to not think too much about what had happened. She would prefer that. Dwelling on things that couldn’t have been helped has never been a good option. She could speak from personal experience on that one. Undoubtedly, he would still probably have a few problems with things
“I think she likes to help but would rather see you gentlemen quite a bit less often than she does.” She’s still smiling as she says it, though softer because she wished they wouldn’t get hurt so much either. Lena just tried to not nag them about it or bring it up every time they ended up in the hospital wing as either an individual or a whole group. Least it led to perks of a sort.
What? Where was all of that coming from? Brown eyes widened in confusion and surprise at his angry rant and just watched him go for a few more moments before being able to talk herself. “Sirius you know for a fact I don’t pay attention to rumors. How do we know they are true? And besides, there’s no way he’ll go after me in that way. He’s a professional professor, even if he is a bit abrasive. He’s not looking at me in any way other than teacher-student. Maybe you’re just seeing things?”
Well that again was true enough. “I can agree that he shouldn’t have asked us to help but other professors but maybe we were the only people available? I’m just glad you didn’t get more seriously hurt.” Her voice trailed off with a shrug.
Years ago, his tease would probably have bothered her because she had been so sensitive about things like that. But now, she could appreciate it and just let it slide. Her lips twitched up into a smile as she bumped him in the leg with her knee. “So that must explain it all. You’ve been treating me like a basket case all along. Tsk tsk, Sirius.” She teased him back, unable to not smile. Sometimes she was envious of people who had both of their parents, good and sweet parents like James and Remus, but she tried not to think about it much.
Sirius might claim that he was pants at making people feel better or dealing with girls and their emotions but, at least in her case, he was doing really well on making her not feel bad. The throbbing pain that was her parents’ deaths wasn’t there anymore and was more like a slight burn. It would never fully go away, she knew, but it had eased slightly. And his brand of trying to make her feel good again was working. Lena smiled softly as she knew he was trying to comfort and have her feel better, as much as he could. When he caught her gaze hers softened and squeezed his hand one more time, appreciating what he was doing. Her head tilted down in a nod, wanting to let him know she was glad he didn’t try to say anything to sugar coat it or any of the many platitudes she’d heard right after her parents had died. But then she felt he deserved a little more, his day had been going pretty bad, and leaned down to press a gentle kiss to the middle of his forehead where there were no bruises or marks and said “Thank you,” softly in his ear before sitting back upright again. “You might be a complete nutter along with me but you’re a sweet one and a great friend.”

Sirius raised an eyebrow at Lena to the best of his abilities with his face in such a condition. "What, you'd rather me just stare at your chest without forcing it? Because believe me... I already do."
Sirius laughed at Lena's comment, and couldn't help but laugh a little harder at her softened facial expression. She was just so... protective. He knew that she didn't want to see them hurt, but at the same time they were rarely hurt to the extent that he was in that moment. Despite the fact that the Marauders at a tendency of being reckless, but they were hardly stupid. Well, other than the stunt with Snivellus... that was a different matter altogether that Sirius didn't want to talk about.
"I think you've got it all wrong. I think Pomfrey would just love for us to become more severely injured so that we could live there and she could stare at us as long as she pleased," he continued onward. He wouldn't give up the battle of suggesting that Pomfrey was somehow sickly obsessed with healing others. That she had to be needed.
Sirius' smile was wiped off his face at her next words. She didn't believe the rumours? Seriously? She didn't notice how other Professors watched Silvanus? He frowned and bit the inside of his cheek to prevent himself from acting irrationally, although it was currently taking everything in him to not do so. He knew he didn't have the energy in him to start shouting, and besides, he didn't particularly feel like shouting at Lena anyways. He felt like she was being much too defensive over him. Her saying that they were probably the only ones available only continued to rub him the wrong way. He crossed his arms over his chest in a childish fashion and merely said, "Yeah, okay."
Those two words meant so much more than they really were. As much as the words were at the tip of his tongue to accuse her for actually liking the man, even after everything he just did... he couldn't bring himself to do it. However, his body language was saying a lot more than his mouth was, and any logical person could see that he was clearly unhappy with what Lena had just expressed.
She kissed him on the forehead, which temporarily made Sirius feel stupidly warm in the pit of his stomach, but he ignored it. He appreciated the praise, but due to the fact that Sirius was overwhelmingly single-minded, he couldn't just ignore what she said and move on like any other person would. No, he had to pout and be miserable.
"You're welcome," was all that he seemed to be able to get out.

She tried to keep it down so Madam Pomphrey wouldn’t come over and tell her she was being too loud but that was definitely unexpected and hilarious. She, of course, didn’t believe him for a second but grinned at Sirius anyway. “You do, huh? Enjoying the view?” She winked at him playfully before laughing again, having to cover her mouth a little bit to hold it in.
Oh he just made it too easy for her. He was too easy to tease sometimes, considering what he said. She tried to keep her face straight as she said “You know, you’re going on about Madam Pomphrey’s preferences quite a bit more than normal. Are you sure it’s not the other way around and it’s you who wants to stay in here and be fawned over by her all the time?” It was just a little game now. Just something fun to talk about and relax without drama and things.
When his attitude suddenly changed, it was very obvious and she frowned slightly in worry, wondering if he was hurting and quickly took a glance over his body as if she would be able to see his pain and then looked around to make sure Madam Pomphrey wasn’t too far in case she needed to be called over quickly. But then he started pouting and crossed his arms and her eyebrows rose, being able to recognize that pout from anywhere. It was definitely his ‘I don’t like what you said because it’s stupid but I’m not going to say anything’ pout. She had seen that pout too many times to count over the years. It was really adorable but the fact that it was there meant he didn’t appreciate something she’d said, as no one else was talking. As she looked back on what all she’d said, Lena couldn’t think of anything that he would be pouting over.
She moved and leaned against his leg as well as the bars around his bed, studying him for a moment, curious about what was wrong. Thinking for a few minutes, Lena couldn’t figure out what it was that she said so she gave up and went ahead and asked him before it had time to get worse. Sirius held grudges like nobody’s business and she would rather not deal with that instance ever again. “Sirius, what did I say that was wrong?” And to make him just a little more compliant, and because she really just felt like it, she picked up his hand carefully and started rubbing and massaging his hand and fingers.

Sirius could feel warmth at the pit of his stomach start to grow as he heard Lena snort and laugh. He honestly loved to make people laugh. He assumed it was what he was best at. (Well, inadvertently Sirius was also good at making people feel badly.)
"Well, I would love the view... if you let the girls out more often," he joked. Sirius chuckled at Lena's joke, then fondly looked over at Madam Pomfrey lurking behind a corner. "You really have figured me out, Lena. I'm so in love with her, it's hard to keep my eyes away."
Sirius honestly didn't understand how Lena didn't understand what she had said was wrong. Sirius wouldn't have cared if it was McGonagall or Slughorn or Kettleburn, if a Professor had allowed her to be maimed in the way that he had, he certainly wouldn't defend them! No, that would be the least he'd be doing. He almost didn't answer her, but the words were too close to the tip of his tongue to ignore.
"I honestly expected better of you than to fancy Kettleburn," Sirius retorted, shortly and sourly.
((Sorry about such a short post! There wasn't much more I needed to add lol))

You gonna give me a little bit incentive to do that? I mean, it’s not every day that you get to enjoy looking at quality goods like mine.” It was so hard not to laugh at what they were talking about. Nudging him again, she continued to massage his hand and fingers while smiling. “You’re so easy to read sometimes. It’s not hard to figure out that you can’t stop looking at her.”
This must be the week of surprised because his reply to what was wrong was definitely not on her possibilities of ever coming out of his mouth. Lena was so shocked she just started at him, job smacked for a few moments, before shaking her head and giving him a ‘are you kidding me?’ look. Just in case that wasn’t enough, and because she really couldn’t hold her own tongue at this point because of his comment, she elaborated. “Sirius Orion Black, are you mental? Is this a joke?” Her eyebrow arched, doubting it considering his anger, but needing to ask anyway. “Why on earth would I ever fancy a teacher like him?” The things that came out of Sirius’ mouth sometimes boggled her.
