Hogsmeade trips were always fun and Lily had to say she had quite enjoyed her day in the village. It was coming to an end and what better place to be then in the Three Broomsticks? She'd gotten off to a slippery start, met up with her friends and now she was alone, ordering a butterbeer, a sweet, smooth drink that'd keep her warm when she decided to walk back up to the castle in the wind. Not that she didn't like the bitter cold and potential thunderstorms, but a butterbeer was simply irritable right now after a hard day of shopping!
Paying her money to the barmaid and heading over to one of the few empty tables in the pub, Lily sat herself down carefully on a wooden chair that squeaked and placed her butterbeer on the table in front of her. She took a sip and instantly the warmth spread down her throat and into her stomach and from there on the warmth just spread all over her body. The sensation was simply marvellous to the Gryffindor. She should probably buy a case of these and hide them under her bed. Then again the red head sometimes had little self control and knew that they'd probably all go within a week or two. She'd rather just have them for Hogsmeade visits, that way they'd always remind her of the quaint little village.
Placing her drink down on the table once more and removing any froth from her lips with the back of her sleeve, Lily glanced around the pub full of chattering students, locals and Professors. It wasn't just the students that seemed to enjoy the Hogsmeade weekends, the Professors liked to get their fill of relaxation too, Lily supposed they couldn't necessarily leave the castle whenever they wanted due to needing to be around to do patrols, teach lessons and keep an eye on the student population in general. Still, it was good to see the Professors loosening up a little, hopefully they wouldn't be too uptight on Monday, Lily loved school but Monday's was always the worst and tended to mean plenty of homework, hopefully there wouldn't be too much going on after such a peaceful weekend.

Hogsmeade was almost a game for Severus now, the weekends involved so much evasion and avoidance that in his own mind he had been forced to create rules and guidelines for moving about and social interactions.
In truth, if he had been presented with the rules without knowing the reason, he might well have viewed it as a somewhat odd, marginally fun game. As it was, he knew the reasons and both were bright, lively green and framed by a vibrant red.
Unbeknownst to Severus, in his hurry to remove himself from the large open area that made him an obvious target and also an easy inconvenience to Her, he had walked into the Three Broomsticks, brown parcels under one arm, cluelessness under the other.
The taller, gaunter Slytherin that approached the counter was very different from thee fifteen year old that had held Lily's friendship just one year ago. Not only had he finally begun to grow into his limbs properly, but he had also matured emotionally and mentally somewhat. He still ordered just a simple pumpkin juice since it was one of the cheaper more palatable drinks legally available to the students. turning to look for a space, he eyed the professors a little warily, aware that last time Slughorn had beckoned him over simply to discuss Her.
His black eyes continued to seek out a spare table far enough from the Professors that he could avoid having to interact with them, and suddenly stopped. THeir gaze was fixed on the pderson he had been avoiding. He had broken rule 3 already. 'Look about before you commit to staying somewhere for more than ten minutes.' And now he was contemplating rule 1 and how it reallly wasn't that important, was it? IT didn't matter if he interacted with her...maybe he could ocnvinve her to give him a second chance.
He slouched slightly over his glass. MAybe, but then again, maybe not.

Lily was oblivious to the coming and goings of other patrons of the Three Broomsticks, all she knew was that she had enjoyed her time in Hogsmeade today and that this was the perfect way to wind down. Lazily relaxing with a butterbeer. The pub could be empty, busy or somewhere in the middle for all she cared, she was just grateful that such a calming day had come to a relaxing end. There was nothing left to do but drink her drink and head back to the castle.
Looking up every now and then at the ring of the bell above the door, Lily noticed people leaving and even more arriving. The day wasn't over for the students yet but Lily was getting ready to call it and so finished off her butterbeer and stood. Almost as soon as she stepped one inch away from her table, a couple of students rushed to it and sat themselves down as though they'd just been yelled at by McGonagall.
Ignoring the bustle over her table as two people started arguing over who was there first, Lily headed towards the door, pushing through people with polite 'excuse me's and light taps on the shoulders if they hadn't heard, the noise level of the pub was enough to drown her out when she was in her relaxed state of mind but her relaxed state of mind didn't last for long as someone barged past her and knocked her into someone else's drink.
"STUPID IDIOT." she yelled after the guy that just ducked out of sight. Lily growled to herself in the back of her throat and turned to find she'd knocked into Severus' drink. Anger flushed out of her along with most of her emotions. Some sort of fear and guilt filled her. "Jeez, I'm sorry. Let me buy you another drink." She said, not sure if this was being too nice for what he deserved, then again she didn't want to treat Severus any differently from a stranger even though they had a history it was just easier to act around one another as though nothing had happened, keep to the pleasantries and then get out of the pub before he could start apologising or whatever it was he had in mind that he would try.

Severus was now far from oblivious to her, but utterly oblivious to everyone else. He even nearly put his packages down on thin air rather than the bar stool next to him.
He watched her stand and shifted slightly, though he could make up his mind whether to lean forwqard and conceal his face as much as h ecould, or whether to turn and face her to watch her better. He'd always watched her back when they were younger. He liked watching people, especially from a distance. From a distance one could judge the person and not necessarily be judged in return. But then he'd been accused of spying on Lily by Petunia, something he hadn't enjoyed hearing. After all he'd only watched her becasue she was the only other Magical child he really knew of, and she didn't have the fear of hell and brimstone for all eternity. She was bright and cheeery and he shouldn't be thinking these things because he knew that h ewould have that stupid wry happy-sad smile on his face and everyone would think he was a fool.
He closed his eyes for a moment to collect himself and when he opened them again to see Charlie Wycross come barrelling towards the bar and slam into-
Time slowed down and he watched her be shoved towards him. Or rather towards his drink which then tipped itself almost completely over his hand and the bar counter. He didn't know where to look.
Time returned to normal speed and He heard her shout. He contemplated addidng his own ahout but decided against it. He didn't want her first impression of new Severus to be of a shouting, angry young man. So instead he wiped his hand off on his trousers as best he could.
For a moment, he was sure it was going to be fine. Her anger had seemed to trickle out of her face as soon as she saw him. He offered her a faint smile. Or rather, he tried to. But his heart was literally in his throat. THe metaphor barelyt metaphorical when he could feel the ka-thump of his cardiac valves in his neck and face.
"Jeez, I'm sorry. Let me buy you another drink."
"It's alright...It was only a pumpkin juice." He couldn't be sure, but he thought maybe she was offering him the chance to apologise properly. MAybe she was now willing to listen to him.
"Lily...I-" He glanced to the side self consciously, aware of how many epole were clustered around he bar. "I want to- try and make things right?" He shouldn't have phrased that as a question. Why had he? Why did all his eloquence flee him when she was involved? He could only hope that he was up to whatever hurculean task she demanded of him. Because he would do anything for her. Even now, when she should hate him
