What can be found in a name:
Theodore Alexander Tonks
When the day I was born:
February 13th, 1958
The Angels screamed:
John and Gwen Tonks
And Hell shut its doors:
None
While creatures retreated:
Family Owl - Hootie
To depths unknown:
Muggleborn
I hide from them:
Wherever suits at the time. Sometimes he likes to be surrounded by the millions books and the knowledge of the library and others, he is content with a walk through the snow.
Be who they want to see:
Theodore stands at 6'3" and is well filled out. While in school, he was twig thin and most often what they referred to as a beanstalk but as he aged, Theodore filled out and now, not only is he tall, he is rather well proportioned. With broad shoulders and well defined muscles, he isn't a push over but, in comparison to others, he is still slight. He isn't what people would call buff or beefy but he does have mass to him. He's no longer ashamed of how tall he is, and instead wears it proudly, making use of every inch with a straight back and head held high. He's still rather slender for his height, but well-proportioned all the same, not too bony or thin. He's well-muscled from playing quidditch, though it's more lean and wiry than noticeable buffness -- he simply isn't built to be all that sturdy. All the time he spends outdoors has also given his skin a nice golden glow.
His face is the center stone of his features. A well defined jawline has proven it's worth time and time again. From fights where the jaw was the target to intimidation tactics where just a shift of his jaw could send the other party running, it's had it's benefits. The main of which is shoveling large quantities of food into ones mouth. His cheeks, smile, and lips have also played a big roll while growing up. He uses them to express himself the most. Smiling and laughter to insults and angry expressions.
But that leaves no one:
To discover that inside:
When it comes to people, Ted isn't a bad person to know. He is the type of guy who likes to laugh, and not at other peoples expense. That's a Slytherin trait and Ted was a Hufflepuff. In fact, Ted was the one who would pick said people up after having been put down. He's never liked sad faces or mean graces and, even at the expense of being particularly disliked by purists, tries to be nice to everyone. He isn't perfect though and he isn't dumb. He just doesn't go out of his way to create havoc. Instead, he goes on with his life and lives it to the best of his ability. He works hard during his work hours and plays hard when he isn't working. He gives his all in every aspect of his life and feels that if he doesn't give one hundred and ten percent, he isn't living his life to the fullest.
When it comes to lovers, Ted has a short list of none, at least no physical lovers. He is slightly romantic in the sense that he will give his wife the pleasure of knowing that when he has sex with her, he won't be comparing her to other women and she won't have to worry about any diseases. Idealy, Ted's dream girl will also follow the same practice but he hasn't really put much thought into it. Many hearts have been broken by Ted, though each and everyone is unintentional. Hell, this boy hasn't even kissed a girl. Talk about prude. But he isn't gay or shy, he just has respect for women and hasn't been so drawn to a women that he would jeopardize his morals.
And in the subject of academics, Ted has always been a bit of a nerd. He occasionally spats out random bits of information and surprises people with how intelligent he is. Though he is goofy and fun loving, Ted is also smart and very knowledgeable.
This soulless being:
- Transfiguration
- Hogwarts
- Laughter and a good sense of humor
- Quidditch
- Friends and Entertainment
Is just as lost:
- Divinations
- Purists
- Tense Situations
- Pain
- Losing
As everyone else:
- Good at making people laugh
- Brings out the best in people
- Ideal student
- Particularly good in Charms, Potions and Transfiguration
- Good nature without being a push over
In a world that knows only hate:
- Horrible with women and their crushes
- Tends to be very picky about Arithmancy and Cooking
- Can be moody when he is confused - or annoying cause he can't be at peace until he figures "it" out
- Cover hog...never sleep with him
- Can occasionally be overly joyous about simple things
And causes pain for the soulless like me:
"I've never kissed a girl, let alone liked it."
"Sometimes I wonder what my life would be like if I never knew about magic....certainly no purists to deal with"
They left me to die:
None to speak of. There is a grandmother there that Ted has never met.
On a bed of roses:
An aunt. Margaux. Only met her when he was younger
Blood seeping through:
"We aren't really muggleborns.....we're aliens" - The only real secret that the Tonks' have are their connection with the wizarding world and their knowledge of it's existence.
The satin sheets of fame:
Well off. To be honest, they are rich but they don't flaunt it like the Malfoys and aren't spoiled by it like the Blacks.
What a bitter story of love:
Theodore Tonks was born to his parents one day before Valentine's day. His mother had been hoping that he would be delivered on the fourteenth but all the stress of a Valentine's Day Party sent her into early labor and Ted was born in a muggle hospital on a lovely afternoon. He went home the next day and was showed off to family and friends who continued to swoon over him even as he grew. He never had much of a temper and being an only child, his mother having her tubes tied after a difficult delivery, he was often given immense amounts of attention. He shone in the limelight.
His first sign of magic came when he and his mother were in the store and a man approached them and tried to take his mother away at knife point. The cans on the surrounding shelves floated menacingly around them and the knife turned itself on the attacker. His mother grabbed him and ran, not noticing the thunderous crash the cans made as they hit the ground. It wasn't until years later, when Ted received his Hogwarts letter that everything was explained. He was a wizard. Despite the drastic change, his parents never ceased to be supportive and learn about the world that their son was involved in.
Theodore entered the Wizarding World with a positive attitude and filled with nervous excitement. He approached the sorting hat with a full fledged smile and when the tattered old hat landed one his head and started to speak, the little boy rolled his eyes up and tilted his head back to try and see the hat. Unlike many of his peers, the hat did not slide down and engulf his head. Instead, his oversized ears held it up. In the first years at Hogwarts, Theo was a goofy looking kid with oversized ears and a huge grin on his face who was muggleborn but didn't see how that should affect the relationship he had with people and how he treated them. Every year, he bought his roommates muggle items that brought them fascination and enjoyment, feeling it was important to share the culture he was raised in. He did the same for his parents.
As an ideal student, always turning in his homework and helping anyone (and I mean anyone) who needs help, he was named prefect in his fifth year. Now in his seventh year, he is Head Boy ((pending approval)) and he takes the job with honor. He is a creative balance between following the rules and having fun. He doesn't admit it but he is very nervous about the year to follow this one.
When Theodore woke up on this particular morning, he yawned and made his way to the shower. It didn't take him long to lather up, rinse off and get out and it took him even less time to dress. Once he finished, he was wearing a white button up, the sleeves rolled to the elbow and a black pair of slacks. Really he looked like he was going somewhere nice, maybe a higher up position in the Ministry but no. He was going to Honeydukes. Still fairly fresh out of school, he had no idea what to make of his life but Honeydukes paid the bills and kept a roof over his head. Still, he didn't understand the need for such attire to go to the sweet shop. He wasn't complaining really because even he found himself attractive in the attire but he was always worried about ruining it. The stuff wasn't cheap after all.
Slipping on shoes, which were also dressy, Ted locked his small flat and apparated to Hogsmeade where he strolled down the street to enjoy the fresh beginnings of a new morning. He greeted the fellow shop keepers and employees, got a free breakfast from the elderly lady who found Ted to be quite charming and was constantly attempting to pair him up with her daughter. As always, Ted politely declined and thanked her. When he slid his key into the Honeyduke's keyhole, he smiled. There was something peaceful about this routine and about entering the normally packed shop while no one else was in it. It would be a good hour before the Hogwarts students flocked to the store and emptied the shelves. It would be just enough time to restock them.
And so, Ted's day progressed. He helped student after student until it was time for them to go home and he had to admit, the silence was heavenly once they had left. He looked around the shop and smiled despite the mess that was presented to him. The shelves were nearly bare, items were strewn and misplaced, and the place was a mess. Grabbing the broom that Ted had brought from the muggleworld, he went to straightening the shop in the hours before closing. His outfit was hidden behind a red and white striped apron, standard dress code, and the shop glowed with the orange rays of the setting sun. It was very serene and Ted decided to take the time and move slowly across the shop, sweeping the floor, organizing the shelves and restocking them.
He was in the back, his arms full of chocolate frogs when the bell above the door chimed, signaling the entrance of a customer. With arms full to the point where the items were about to drop from his arms, Ted made his way to the front, smile in place long before he saw who entered and long after he greeted her. "Good Evening Miss Black. How are you doing?" He waited for an answer before continuing, "Is there something I can help you find?"
