softly Alecto Carrow made her way out of the Slytherin Common Room. Her pale slender legs carried her along the empty dungeons and up the stairs into the Entrance Hall. Her high heels clicked on the cold stone floor, until she stopped in front of the large door that led to the lawns. Slowly the young slytherin looked around, making sure nobody was following her. The dark haired beauty opened the door and stepped outside.
Very carefully not to fall, but still graciously, Allie moved swiftly across the lawns, towards the Forbidden Forest. Her short skirt fluttered up a little as the wind swept underneath it. Alles pulled her cloak closed to her body, shielding it from the upcoming cold. She looked at the sky above her, stars could already be seen in the purple glow of the night.
Her feet walked on, right into the Forbidden Forest. With every step she took, the trees began to pack closer together. She walked and walked, until she found the clearing she was looking for. There, in about three meters, an open space came into view. Broken branches lay on the ground, images of the pas days flew in front of her dark blue eyes. Three days before she had been here too, practicing spells, those spells which shouldn’t be seen by others, Dark Spells.
Alecto stepped into the open space, a few twigs breaking beneath her. She took her wand out of her pocked, litting a fire in the center of the area, before sitting down on a nearby tree trunk. The orange flames danced in front of her pale face, her eyes sparkled as she was caught up in her own thoughts. A spider crawled upon her hand, but she didn’t shake it off. Instead she brought her hand to the same level as her eyes and just at the small hairy animal. “You’re full of dark surprises too, aren’t you?”, she whispered as she put it back down before staring into the fire.
Not so long ago, she had been here too, thinking over the choice she was going to make. Now, that choice had been made. She would join His army of Death Eaters. Grinning inwardly as she looked to her arm. Not too long from now, there would be a skull with a snake, coming out of its mouth tattooed on her forearm. Her hand squeezed in her arm, a far off look burning in her eyes.
A sudden noise awoke her from her trance. She took her wand in her right hand and looked to the place where the disturbance was coming from. A nearby bush was quivering in the wind and alecto slowly got up, walking suspiciously towards the green, her wand held out before her, curses running through her mind.
All of a sudden, a Black cat came into view. Allie just smirked slightly as she sat back down on the trunk of the tree. The black cat sat down next to her, “So you’ve found me.”, she smiled at the animal before caressing it with her long fingers. Lucifer was her own cat, the cat her brother had bought for her when she had first come to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The cat laid his head down on her lap and purred softly…
Lucifer stopped purring and heaved his head off Allie’s lap. And then, she heard it too, footsteps were approaching…

Sirius hadn't even bothered going back to the dormitories that night. After dinner, he excused himself from the Marauders', claiming that he wanted to work on the map some more. However, he knew, as he assumed James knew as well, that the unfinished Map was at the bottom of James' trunk since the last time one of them worked on it. However, no one said anything about him leaving. Honestly, Sirius just wanted time to himself. His day had been long and tiring, and only too many times did he run into his family members. Not to mention his nights had been disrupted and short, mainly due to run ins with pretty girls. When the sun had begun to set, he knew he should return to the common room, but for some reason he just didn't have the urge. He always had the ability to charm most professors out of getting him in trouble for being out past curfew, so he wasn't overly concerned. However, as the sun fully set at the horizon, he knew he couldn't just randomly meander through the corridors any further. Sirius knew his limits around Hogwarts, and was fully aware that he was pushing them.
Instead of going back to the Gryffindor common room, he then began to walk down the stairs. The way he walked down stairs was extremely graceful. If someone didn't know him any better, they probably would have assumed that he was indeed in Slytherin. His posture was a little too great, and he had an air of aristocracy about him as if his wallet was fat with too many bills. It wasn't the case whatsoever, and it could have just been in his blood to walk like that, but that's the way that he was. He carried himself with a sense of carelessness as if no one could harm him or bring him down in any way. Most people would call it arrogance.
Sirius reached the doors to discover that he was lucky and that the doors hadn't been locked yet. He opened the one large, heavy door just enough so he could slip through. The door closed with a soft thud, and then he was free. The air was rather cool as it hit his face, and he inhaled deeply, taking it all in. The air was fresh, something that Sirius never took for granted. The air was moist, and he only guessed that rain was close in the future. As he looked around, he knew it would be foolish to do what he was about to do, but would rather do it than get caught in human form. Standing where he was, he shifted into a large, black furry dog. Afterwards, he stood there on all fours. He stretched and shook out his fur, and then loped towards the forest. Sirius loved shift shaping, and he always wished he could do it more often. However, he had promised James and Peter that he wouldn't do it unless they were out with Remus on a full moon. He supposed that this was a good excuse, however, but he wouldn't tell them about what he had done. They didn't need to know, and Peter would probably just end up fretting about probably getting caught. He doubted James would care that much, but really, there was not much to tell.
Sirius enjoyed the run to the forest with the feeling of the hard, cold ground beneath his paws. Before he knew it, he was weaving in and out of trees. He was being completely reckless now, but he was running on adreneine and nothing seemed to matter. He felt like he was invinsible, and like nothing in the forest would harm him, even though techncally there was a lot that could.
However, his run was disrupted when he saw a girl in a clearing. There was a fire. He lowered his head in a suspicious manner, and watched her for several seconds. She turned her head around, and Sirius lowered himself to his stomach in order to hide. He knew he should shift back in case she spotted him, so as a cat saved him from being discovered, and turned back into human form. He walked from tree to tree to avoid bein spotted, and due to being so light on his feet he didn't make much noise, but every few steps he would step on a twig. He knew he couldn't remain undetected, and she looked rather frail herself. Sirius didn't want to give himself completely away, though. If he could hide, he knew that he would. The last thing he needed was to be spotted and to get in trouble, but he knew that she would get in trouble too if caught. Instead of making a usual rash decision, he just hid behind a tree and watched her as she drew out her left arm and looked at it. Sirius almost expected to see a Dark Mark imprinted here, but wasn't really surprised when there wasn't. He kept peering out, and couldn't bring himself to do the responsible thing, which would have been to go back to Hogwarts and pretend he hadn't seen anything at all. He wasn't a good boy, after all. If he was, he wouldn't have come into the Forbidden Forest to begin with.
Sirius continued to dart between the trees as he tried to get a better view of the girl's face. When he got to a close enough tree, he knew he should have known better to think this girl was anyone but a Slytherin. She was extremely attractive, and due to that fact and the fact that she was a Slytherin, he knew it could be no one else but Alecto Carrow. He hated that he found her so attractive. Attractive girls did not end up in Slytherin. In fact, he knew it made it harder to belittle her all the time due to this. Hey, Sirius had a soft spot for fit girls. What lad didn't? Sirius wanted two things at that moment: to approach her, but also to remain hidden. The latter overwhelmed him, and he just continued to watch her, feeling almost like what he imagined Snape to look like whenever Sirius caught Snivellus staring at Evans. Word Count: 1080

Looking around to see where the noise had come from, Alecto could not detect anyone. Had he stopped, or had he walked away? She stood up, turning around with Lucifer in her hand. The cat meowed and when she didn't see anything, she sat back down on the broken branch. Lucifer himself crawled back on Lecto's lap, putting it's had on her lap and started purring while her hand swiftly petted the cat before her thoughts ran away with her.
When she would finally take the mark, she knew her father would be proud of her again. It had been so hard living with him for these past two years when he could not even look at her. Her mother had been softer on her, but her father had never quite forgiven her for what she'd done... As if she hadn't been punished enough. Her mother and brother still loved her, but Mr Carrow honestly didn't want anything to do with his daughter anymore.
She frowned, thinking back to that particular night that had caused so much trouble in her life, that had changed her for good. Once, yes, and you might find it hard to believe. But once, Alecto Carrow had been quite a nice-girl. Slytherin, yes, but as nice as a Slytherin can get. She talked happily to people of almost every house - mind you, talking to hufflepuffs was social suicide so she just kept away from them as much as possible... But she'd never felt the need to be rude to someone or sleep around like she was doing now..
Rabastan Lestrange had changed all of that, with just one simple deed: he had made Alecto Carrow fall in love with him. Now it wouldn't have been a bad thing, Cause back then Alecto believed in true love and with Rabastan she'd thought she'd won the lottery. He treated her like a woman, listening to her, courting her on all the right ways... Until that particular night on Christmas eve.
It had been a rather warm night at the Carrow Estate, and like every year all the purebloods threw their annual celebration party. Within the household of the Carrows that was no difference. Every pureblood of respectable lineage had been invited, and of course the Lestranges were there too.. What could have become one of her most memorable nights had indeed become memorable as Rabastan took her outside. They'd walked for only five minutes when Rabastan started to kiss her. Now, Alecto wasn't a total saint, but she had never gone any further than kissing someone.. Soon enough she found her clothes on the ground. Rabastan had taken what he'd been after, he finished and got dressed again, looking at Alecto with a smug expression on his face. She'd gotten dressed, feeling extremely vulnerable, but thinking that now the worst part was over, Rabastan would make sure she'd enjoy it next time. They went back to the manor together, Rab walking a few feet in front of her, never once caring enough to look back.
And then, her father came out of the house, a look of horror on his face as he saw the smug smile on Rabastan and the tattered look on Alecto's. In an instant he'd known what had happened, Alecto Carrow was no longer his little angel that could not to anything wrong. Hell, she wasn't even his daughter anymore. The night ended with a lot of shouting on her father's side, a lot of tears on her mothers and a lot of disappointed looks from her brother.
Her brother and mother had changed their opinions quickly though, they knew that Alecto had been framed, but her father remained stubborn, saying that his daughter should have known better, that she had betrayed him and their entire family. From that moment on, her father barely spoke to Alecto.
That single event had changed Alecto's life completely. Certainly when she came back to Hogwarts and found out that Rabastan had been spreading the word that he'd been the one who had taken away her virginity. His friends couldn't believe his words, but a bet was a bet and he got ten bottles of firewiskey for his heroic deeds.. Ten bottles of firewiskey.. Was that all that she had meant to him?
Clearly, cause after that they barely spoke to each other and Alecto grew up to be who she was now. She didn't care about people anymore, not that deeply anyway that they could ever hurt her. Men, she didn't trust in the least, though she made them believe otherwise. And for the sleeping around, that was just her way of saying 'fuck you' to that specific night with Rabastan Lestrange...
She sighed softly, letting her head fall back down in her hands. She had to become a Death Eater now. If not, her father would never look at her again, and perhaps if she did this, if she made him proud again, than he'd perhaps recognize her as his own daughter. A tear started to form in her eyes, but she quickly blinked it away. She'd shed more than enough tears for that bastard. He wouldn't get to her again. Never. And it was then, when she blinked away that tear that she heard a soft crack again. She stood up, heart pounding in her throat... Had anybody seen that she'd almost broken down? "Who's there", she called out, her wand up at the ready with Lucifer meowing at her feet. If somebody would attack her, she would be ready for him.

Sirius watched as she placed her face in her hands. He wasn't sure, but he could have sworn that she looked upset. He wasn't fooled, however. Growing up in a house of Blacks, he began to realize that when people looked upset, it didn't always necessarily mean that they were upset. Take his mother for example. She would work up an act just to get what she wanted. No, not a temper tamtrum persay, but certainly tears in her eyes and acting like everyone was the bad guy. The moment that they gave her what she wanted, however, those crocodile tears vanished and a victorious smirk would appear on her face. Sirius just had a tough time believing that someone was upset when they looked it - especially Slytherins. Sirius knew he shouldn't be fooled just because Alecto was good looking.
Sirius moved in order to get a better view, maybe see what she was really doing. He was extremely suspicious by nature, and he was just wondering whether she was actually doing some sort of magic perhaps. A spell where she was hiding her face? Sirius couldn't think of any sort of incantation that required that, but maybe it was just what she did. Sirius looked up at the moon to discover that it was half. Ever since discovering Remus' secret, he had become obsessed with observing the moon cycles. It was not an obsession, merely curiousity. Whenever the moon was out, his eyes automatically went to the sky, especially if the moon was as bright as it was that night. However, this time his move was made in improper haste, for as he looked up, he lost his footing and stepping on a particularly large branch, causing an enormous crack to ring out through the silence. Sirius cursed himself under his breath. He was typically a lot more graceful than that, and the fact that he made such a foolish mistake aggravated him. His heart began to race, not because she was now bound to find him, but because he just couldn't be bothered with the confrontation.
Sirius then heard Alecto call out and he closed his eyes and sighed impatiently. He knew she would hear him, so why did he feel so surprised that she did. He wrapped his hand around his wand in his pocket, and withdrew it, keeping it in front of him. Sirius stood up straight and walked through the trees into the opening. The fire lit him up, and he knew that the shadows would no doubt make his eyes seem sunken. Low light situations seemed to do that, especially if he was tired, which he currently was.
Sirius pointed his wand at her. He didn't want to make any more mistakes. She was a Slytherin, and he had no reason to trust her. The last thing he needed to do was underestimate her and end up cursed or hexed. He was aware that appearances were often decieving, and knew that mostly because of Remus. On the outside he was shy, very smart, yet withdrawn. Without clothes, he was scarred, and under that, he was a wolf. He would have never guessed it if he had never gotten to know Remus. Besides, his entire family was in Slytherin, and look what they turned out to be! Why should he think otherwise of those kinds of people?
"What are you doing here?" he demanded, looking down at her. The cat meowed at him from Alecto's lap, but Sirius paid the cat no mind. He probably just startled it was all. He knew that Alecto was probably aware of the situation they were in. One could either tattle on the other and hope that they personally would not get in trouble due to 'doing the right thing,' or the more reasonable thing which would be that neither of them tattled at all. If they were to do the latter, they could do anything in the Forest to each other with potentially no repercussions. What were they going to do, go to the hospital wing hexed, and when asked why, tell the nurse that they had been out in the Forest when they were attacked by another student? That was stupid, it would just cause much more problems than it was worth. So, for the time being, Sirius was unwavering and kept his position. Word count: 740

The loud noise had been the first of a few others following, softer this time. Somebody was moving, or perhaps something. Taking a firmer grip on her wand, Alecto looked straight towards the direction of the sound. If that something that was coming closer would attack her, she'd be ready for it. And then she saw him advancing on her. Was that really him? But that probably meant that when she'd heard the first twig breaking that had been him too? And he'd kept quiet, watching her until now? Her heart started to pound in her chest.
Though at other times she was so good in hiding her emotions, right now the total look of horror as she had been caught was reflecting upon her face. Exactly how much had he seen? Lucky she hadn't actually broke down and cried, what a situation would she have landed in then, but still..
Now it would have been bad if anyone had caught her in the Forbidden Forest being slightly upset about what had happened, and terribly afraid of what was yet to come. But the fact that it was Sirius Black made Alecto Carrow feel even more uncertain about how this thing was about to end. Now if he told anybody that he'd seen her upset, the news might travel fast, and if that new reached the ears of one particular Rita Skeeter. Of course her fellow slytherin would make up a story about why Alecto had been caught distraught. 'Lecto didn't even want to think about which possibilities could arise from that particular topic in the Gossip Queen's monthly column. Pregnancy or strange affections for her brother would probably be at the top of Rita's list to include, though neither of them were true.
She regained her senses, her slytherin nature telling her that it was best to not let people see what you really thought or felt. A mask was put on, blocking away everything that she'd felt before, the hurt, the betrayal, the doubt and anxiety. "I could ask you the same question.", she answered him coolly, loosening the firm grip on her wand just a little. She was 80 percent sure that Sirius wouldn't curse her now that they were alone in the Forbidden Forest. After all, what would he say to the teachers while she was in the hospital wing healing from some severe wounds? Right, even Sirius wasn't that stupid. If anything happened to her now, the only person that could be pointed at would be him... Unless he let her behind, but Gryffindors with their great sense of loyalty and braver-ism, he wouldn't even think of leaving her here alone if she was hurt.. Still, ALecto herself wasn't stupid either, though Black may not hurt her thoroughly, he was known to shoot a few mild curses at her whenever he had the occasion. So why risk it?
On the other hand, Sirius would be a fool if he tried anything now. He then would have to admit that he'd been in the Forbidden Forest himself, and though he was known to be in a lot of detentions, she doubted he really wanted another one, certainly when that detention needed to be shared with her...
It's hard to say that she'd rather die than have a detention with that Gryffindor, cause everybody knew that Sirius Black was one of the most attractive males around Hogwarts. His cockiness and arrogance only made her like him even more. Wait... like is not the good word, cause the young slytherin honestly didn't like Sirius. She loathed him... To a certain degree because those characteristics and his appearance made his exterior charisma even more attractive.

The look of sadness on Alecto's face immediately disappeared from her face when she spotted Sirius. Her wand was already in front of her just like Sirius'. His grey eyes narrowed as he took a few cautious steps forward. He didn't care what she had been upset about, she was a Slytherin. Whatever she was being all whiney over, she probably deserved it and brought it on herself. He wasn't going to ask, and he was sure she was not going to tell. He didn't care, and he didn't think she'd fool herself into thinking that he did.
"No, you can't ask me the same thing," Sirius responded with an incredulous tone in his voice. His eyebrows became furrowed as he looked down at her, and he suddenly became extremely aware how far into the Forest they were, and how very dark it was getting. He wasn't afraid, but he wasn't stupid either. To not have any cautiousness in the Forbidden Forest was to be foolish. He forced himself to listen harder, just making extra careful that nothing was coming after them. "I'm a Marauder," he said, making it sound like it was the absolute best thing in the world and made him completely invincible. "I'm expected to do stupid things like come out into the Forest. You're a Slytherin. You should be sitting in your dungeons just imagining what it would be like to have the guts to come out here."
Sirius looked around quickly. Not quick enough for her to hex him, but quick enough to make sure they were actually alone. He wouldn't have been surprised to find that she had brought friends out with her. Slytherins were not known to be brave, and were actually known for being the exact opposite. The last thing he needed was for one of her friends to attack him from behind. Bloody gits.
However, his mind was soon off of Alecto, for the moment he finished speaking, he did hear a noise, and he definitely knew it wasn't himself, Alecto or her bloody cat. In fact, it didn't even sound human. It was far enough away to be indistinguishable, and Sirius' head spun to the direction the noise was coming from, not even caring that he was no longer looking at Alecto. The noise grew closer and closer, and he turned back to the girl he was standing in the clearing with.
"Who'd you bring out here?" he demanded, angrily, branishing his wand about, causing sparks to come from the end of it. "I should have known you wouldn't have come out here alone!"
Sirius was completely on guard. He expected any second to be attacked by her friends, although his logic told him that it probably wasn't one of her friends, and it was probably something that both of them should be worried about. Rolling her eyes at Sirius' remark, Alecto crossed her arms, her wand was still in her hand but she didn't expect him to do anything stupid. On the other hand, he was a Gryffindor, so you could never know which stupid move was his next. She followed his eyes as he looked around. Why was he looking around? Was he waiting for something or someone to come up? Had he brought his friend? Oh man, then she'd be in trouble. All Marauders against her, yes, she knew quite a few dark spells, but there was no way she could block them all off..
It was than that she heard it too, a loud snap made her jump. At the same time, Lucifer ran off, his tail darting behind him as he made his way out of the Forbidden Forest. Now she was entirely alone with Sirius. Not that the darn cat would have helped her if he'd tried anything against her, but still. She swallowed before whispering: "what was that?", her eyes looked back at the Gryffindor. It was then that he turned back angrily at her, sparks bursting from his wand. "Be careful with that", she retorted with that same angry tone in her voice. A woman could change her emotions quick, from happy to sad, and from afraid to very angry.
"What do you mean, who did I bring?", she spoke with a hiss, her eyes locking on him for a few seconds before she let them search the area again. "I didn't bring anyone. No one knows I'm here." Yes, it was true, when Alecto had left the Slytherin Common Room, only a few of her friends had been there, they of course had asked where she was going, but of course Alecto had not said anything about the Forbidden Forest. Instead she'd made up a little lie, saying that she was meeting some - pureblood of course - ravenclaw in the library for some heavy snog session against the bookcases. Of course, none of them dared not to believe her as she left with her cloak on.
"Who did you bring? All your marauders, afraid to come in here alone?", she spat back, her legs slightly shaken from the terrible snap that had resounded earlier. She listened carefully, but there was no sound except her ragged breathing. Her shoulders eased again, her heart rate slowing down until she was fully capable of controling body again. Who did he think he was, this Sirius Black? He might have the body most guys could only dream of, yes his dark hair and appearance made almost every girl in Hogwarts swoon, but his arrogance and anger toward her was something she could live without.
Or well, that's what she kept telling herself, because in reality, it were exactly those characteristics that attracted her to him. No, she wasn't attracted to him, but .. ah.. fuck it. Yes, there was no way in denying that Alecto Carrow was physically attracted to the moron. Only physical though, cause there was no way she could ever live with a dumbass like him.
And then, she heard it again, the loud snap of another twig breaking. Was it because someone was walking over it, or rather something. She turned back to him, hissing while here eyes were almost shooting daggers. "Tell you friends to just come out and have it done with, I don't like being played around with.", her voice was steady and she appeared calm but on the inside her guts were screaming that this wasn't a person she should be scared about... Or at least not a person that would not hurt them.

Alecto's face was an array of emotions, something Sirius didn't understand. He swore he had seen every emotion there excluding happiness. But why would she have any reason to be happy? Her stupid cat just ran off, and she was trapped in the middle of the woods with someone she obviously didn't like. Women. Always so hormonal. Especially the Slytherin ones. From all his experience socializing with Slytherin women, they all seemed to have massive mood swings even more often than normal girls. It must have something to do with their blood, he decided. The noise continued, and Sirius was shaken out of his angry thoughts. He didn't show any sort of nervousness, despite the fact he was fully aware he couldn't transform himself to save himself in front of Alecto. It wasn't worth risking getting caught. He also refused to put his wand away, even though Alecto seemed calm enough to cross her arms. Too bad the reaction to the noise on her face gave away how afraid she really was. How could they be scared for something when they didn't even know what it was?
"How the hell am I supposed to know what it is?" Sirius sneered. He didn't get any closer to her, but did position his body to face where the noise was coming from, but with his wand and face still pointing at Alecto. He didn't trust what was coming at them, but trusted the girl next to him possibly even less. After all, she did associate herself with his cousin. Anyone who did such a thing had less than none of Sirius' trust. Not that he was a very trusting person to begin with. People always seemed to have to prove themselves to him in some way before he even liked them.
After Alecto searched the treeline with her eyes with a look of nervousness, he concluded that she probably didn't bring anyone, or that she was a very good actress. He didn't discard the possibility of the latter, but he was betting the former was probably more likely. He, too, tried to search the trees, but still saw nothing. He was getting steadily more frustrated with Alecto, and when she mentioned the Marauders, he got downright angry, but tried not to show it. Instead, he merely locked his jaw like he normally did, and then took a few deep breaths through his nose. The noise was getting steadily louder, but he turned to her anyways and said, "You think that I'd be a coward enough to let me friends hide and then attack you when you least expect it? I'm not in Slytherin, you know."
A bit of a silence followed afterwards, even from whatever was in the woods. This made him both suspicious and worried. Typically if they were going to be attacked by an animal, the animal wouldn't charge and then pause. A human, on the other hand, most certainly would. He felt like calling out, but didn't seem like he was afraid. Also, if it was an animal, he didn't want to call out and then grab it's attention. He wasn't stupid, although he wasn't so sure about his companion.
He glanced at her and said with almost a satisfied smirk on his face, "What are you... scared?"
Right as he said this, however, a huge crashing sound echoed throughout the woods, even causing Sirius to step back out of shock from what he heard. Clicking noises soon ensued, and he wasn't ignorant of the Forest: he knew exactly what was coming even before he saw one of it's hairy legs poking out from between the trees. It took only moments before a giant spider emerged from between the trees. Sirius took a few steps back, temporarily forgetting that Alecto was sitting there. Especially because the Acromantula was staring right at him.
Sirius cursed. Word Count: 685

So it weren't the marauders who were hiding in the thick branches of the forest. It was something else, in a way that made her feel slightly better, but that was only until she realized that it meant that something else was looking at them, biding its time until it was ready to strike. She was nervous, no way she could ever deny that, but well.. What was the worst that could happen?
After all, once she would be out of this school worse things would be out to get her. Worse things would have to be done when she would finally accept the mark. She had to brave up, because honestly, how bad could it be? It was not like facing the Dark Lord and fulfilling his every wish would be less menacing than this... She feared him, one would be a fool not to. But it was her only chance of ever getting some good words out of her father again. Yes, it was known that Alecto didn't care about anyone but herself, her brother, mother and .. despite all the things that had happened she still cared deeply for her father.
Of course, the situation at hand needed to be sorted out, not her past and her feelings towards all the events that were about to happen. She looked back at Sirius, seeing the smugness drip off his face while he asked her if she was scared. Her head rose a little higher, as she was about to answer him, but then, looking past him she saw what had been making all those noises. She screamed, loud and piercing as she looked straight in one of the beast's eyes. A giant spider had come out of nowhere, looking even more menacing than anything she'd ever seen.
Alecto was stammering, her wand was leveled towards the spider, but she was shaking so hard that even if she could think of a good curse - her brain wasn't really cooperating with her you see.. Though not a lot of people knew it, Alecto Carrow was very afraid of spiders, it had all begun when at one rather humid summer afternoon, her brother had jokingly put one of those nasty eight-legged creatures in her new dress. She'd felt that something was itching her skin, and then when she looked down to see what it was, the large black spider was crawling up along her neckline. She'd screamed her lungs out back then and her mother had come to the rescue, killing the spider (which was already off Alecto's body ) and reprimanding Amycus so hard that he didn't dare to do anything wrong for the next fortnight. After that incident Alecto hadn't talked to her brother in three days, which was quite long seeing as how close they normally were... - it would probably fly off in every direction, hitting on or both of them, leaving them unconscious for the spider to eat them.
She tried to move as quickly as possible toward Sirius, her body behind, shielding her view with her hand as her heart raged in her throat. Her fear could no longer be hidden, there's only so much a girl can take and a gigantic spider wasn't one of it. "Kill it, please, kill it, Sirius." Through all the panic she'd even called him with his surname, something that she'd never have done if her mind was totally with her. "Please,", she said again, her voice rising higher than normal.. "Be quick or else I'm going to fai..."
Her words had drifted away, everything before her eyes grew black and soon the ground was coming closer. Her legs gave in and she fell to the hard earth. The world was still continuing, but she lay there, still as a brick, her heartbeat slowing down..

Sirius chanced a glance at Alecto to see that the colour had drained from her face completely. It wasn't like Sirius wasn't scared out of his mind, but he still had his wits about him. Alecto's entire arm was shaking, and Sirius had never seen anyone as scared as she looked. If they were in a worse situation, he probably would have laughed at the look on her face. Hell, if they got out of this situation he would on doubt laugh. He tried not to take everything so serious, and although this really was not the moment, he took a mental picture of her expression in his mind for making-fun-of purposes later.
However, a much more serious situation was at hand rather than poking fun at Alecto and remembering how exactly to do so. He turned back to the Acromantula, but it seemed to be taking its time. The beast was a rather ugly thing, with beetle eyes and hair everywhere. He had come across them before, but typically with James. He never had to do anything about it by himself, and honestly, he may as well have been by himself, for Alecto loked like she was about to pass out.
Sirius looked back at her to find she had wandered closer to him. She looked absolutely frightful, and for an instant, just an instant, he felt pity for her. Her green eyes couldn't have been opened any wider, and she almost looked like she had been Petrified. He wished at that moment she had done something to him in his life that wouldn't actually make him feel sorry for her, because then he wouldn't feel the need to have to protect her. She was practically begging for him to not let her get hurt, and he was feeling very Remusy about the whole situation. Sirius had the great ability to be able to hate people easily, especially if they were in Slytherin, and in fact, if Alecto wasn't so hot, he probably would have been easily able to tell her to take care of herself. But, his 'other head' got the best of him, and just as he was about to try to take on the Acromantula, he heard a thud and turned to see that Alecto had fainted.
"Bloody hell," Sirius groaned, looking down at her limp body. Everything seemed to be going completely wrong. Would it have been so terrible to have just had a bickering fight with Alecto, and maybe throw a few measly hexes that wouldn't have done real damage? Now they were both in danger of losing their lives, and now that liklihood was doubled because Alecto was squeamish. This whole adventure was completely messed up, and he had no idea what to do. He couldn't very well attack the giant spider, because if it took him out, Alecto would be defenseless and it would kill her. It was almost a lose, lose situation. An idea suddenly came to him, however, and he remembered that Acromantulas could talk. "Hey! Bugger! Go away, we're going back to Hogwarts! We don't mean to cause any harm!" he shouted as the creature got closer. He didn't cower though, hoping that a show of bravery might detract it. However, it continued to walk closer, so Sirius took a few steps to the right to sheild Lecto's body.
"You're on our territory," it said back. "I don't care where you came from."
"Oh shit." Sirius said, his grey eyes widening.
He knew then and there that the Acromantula was one of many who didn't care where you were coming from or where you were going, he only cared that it could make a meal out of you. Sirius pointed his wand at one of many eyes and through a hex at it, causing bats to flutter around it's head and stab it in the eyes. The giant spider let out many clicking noises to show its anger, and Sirius took the distraction to pick Alecto up and throw her over his shoulder. As much as he hated Slytherins, he couldn't allow one who hadn't really done anything to him and his mates to be killed. He hated it. On the extremely rare occasion, he wished that he took after his family just a little more in order to not care about other people so much, because at that moment, he was literally putting his life on the line for her, and he couldn't have been angrier about it.
Sirius carried her for a distance, and the forest was a lot thicker than he ever remembered it. He seemed to stumble almost everything, and just as he began seeing some light (mind you, it was only starlight peeking through because it was night) but it was something. It motivated him to move faster, but as he did, he felt something hit his legs, and he went stumbling to the ground, bringing Alecto with him. Somehow, she managed on his legs, and he was forced to watch the Acromantula draw closer. It took him several moments to be able to break himself free from Alecto, and by then the huge creature was practically on top of him. It began prodding at him, once even hitting Alecto. He had to dodge, and when the spider came down to presumable bite him, Sirius couldn't think of anything else. He panicked, pointed his wand at the spider and screamed, "CRUCIO!"
It hit the spider and was actually surprisingly successful. The spider's legs began to curl in on themselves as the spider felt pain. Sirius' arm was still outstretched, for he felt numbed by what he had done. His hand began to shake uncontrollably in a way that he had never experienced before. It wasn't so much what he had attempted, but the fact that he was successful. It made him question immediately who he was. He didn't want so much as to torture the creature that now lay trembling and incapacitated in front of him, he merely had wanted to detract from them, or hurt it enough to flee. Had he been thrown in the wrong House after all? Was he really destined to be like everyone else? Sirius did not torture. He wasn't like that, but as he stood there trembling, he knew that some part of him had wanted the curse to work, or else it wouldn't have. He just stood there, staring at what he had done, but when the spider began to climb back to its feet, Sirius knew he had to get his priorities right. He looked down at he still unconscious Alecto and picked her up. She suddenly felt like a ton, but he knew he had to get her out of the Forest before the Acromantula awoke and attacked them again. He carried her to the edge of the lake, and far enough away that he knew that the spider would be forbidden to go. He placed her down, and then sat next to her, still in shock for what he did. He didn't cry, no, Sirius wasn't like that, but he was far from okay, and also far from admitting what he had done.
Sirius tried to distract himself mentally. He looked down at the girl next to him to notice she was bleeding at her abdomen... and quite the amount as well. Word count: 1285 Notes: Hope I didn't godmod at all o.0

The world around her had disappeared, nothing that happened around her could be detected as Alecto Carrow lay motionless to the ground. She did not register any sound as Sirius Black failed in his attempt to persuade the acromentula to leave them alone since they were both students from Hogwarts. He should have known though, they'd gone too far inside the forest for the spiders to listen to any of the so-called rules of not attacking any Hogwarts students. Nothing else could be done than just take a run for it, flee away and hoping that the giant creature would not be able to follow them. Though luck though, with Alecto being knocked out, Sirius had some extra wait on his shoulders as he picked her up and began to run for it. Yes, if she'd been conscious, she could have done something about the spider, her brother had already learned her a few dark spells that could get rid of the hideous beast. But truth was, if she had still been conscious, her fear for the thing would have probably knocked every sense she had out of her.
She could not feel anything when Sirius Black carried her further, or perhaps closer to the edge of the forest. Nor when he fell down and she landed upon her feet, motionless she lay there, a prey to the giant hairy spider that was moving their way. Luckily Sirius still had his wits with him as he pushed her of his legs, her elbows hitting a hard rock that would sure leave some bruises. But, the spider was coming to close, soon she would be eaten and there was nothing anyone could do about it. A large paw of the spider scraped over her abdomen, it was cut open immediately. Involuntarily she flinched, as she heard the spider shriek in agony. A part of her thoughts came back, what was shrieking like that? What was happening? Why had she fainted again? It all was so vague that she resisted to wake up. The wind crept over her skin however, making her body feel icecold... Water was streaming, softly hitting the borders of the lake. She stirred again, groaning as her fingers started to move. Her head was still spinning but slowly the darkness in front of her eyes faded away until she could finally blink it all away.
The thick layer of threes above them had been replaced by stars trying to shine through the thick pack of clouds. She wanted to sit up right, but she was still too weak to do so. Her hand moved to her stomach, her head moved sideways to see that Sirius was sitting next to her. Some of the colour was draining back to her face, but she still felt nauseas. As if one hundred hippo's had ran over her body while doing multiple loops at one of the worst attractions in a Theme Parc. What the heck had happened? Last thing she knew she was shaking uncontrollably, trying to think of something that could get rid of the giant spider that was about to eat them, and then, as she had moved closer to Sirius everything had turned into darkness around her. Her gaze was upon him as she remained quiet, looking at him and seeing that something was really bugging him. What could it be?
She opened her mouth to speak, but the first sound that came out were raspy, as if someone had cut her vocal cords. Clearing her throat, she tried again, this time saying in a rather weak voice.." What happened... ? What.. was that shriek I heard when I was out?". She tried to sit up straight again and clutched her stomach even harder. That was when she saw it, a rather large trail of blood was speared on her white t-shirt... And it seemed that it wasn't the spider's blood, but her own. Now the strange thing Alecto Carrow is, she was terribly afraid of spiders, but blood and injuries she could handle. It hurt like hell, but she knew there was nothing she could do about it. They couldn't go to Madame Pomfrey or everything would just leak out. "Fuck, how did that happened.", she said more to herself than to Sirius as the cut explained her just why she was still feeling so nauseous. She yelped again as she moved up her shirt, seeing that the cut was at least 7 cm's wide. She didn't even want to think about how deep it really was. "Can't go to Pomfrey", she said to Sirius while pressing her hand hard on the wound, pressing it to hopefully stop the bleeding. "She'll ask what we've been up to and land us both in detention for a month.".
The blood seeped through her fingers. Something really had to be done. Moving closer to the edge of the lake with some difficulty, she tore a large piece of her white shirt off. The wound had to be mended before the bleeding got any worse. Her entire flat stomach and the gaping wound was exposed now, her shirt being torn off just somewhere below her breast.. Unintentionally of course. The torn pieces of her shirt were pressed in the water to make a cold compress, she draped it around her wound, putting enough pressure on it to stop the bleeding. It helped somewhat, the bleeding was slowly diminishing.. Mind you she still was losing too much blood. She leaned back down in the grass, her hands still pressed on the wound as she tried to bite her teeth. It was stinging, but she needed to be strong now. She couldn't go to the infirmary, no, she really couldn't. It was then, when she lay back down that she realized how lucky she had been. If it hadn't been for Sirius, she would have been dead by now. She turned her face towards him again. She owed him big time, and she didn't really know if she liked that at all, still, for now... she could do nothing else but softly whisper: "thank you."

Sirius stared off into the trees of the Forbidden Forest, wondering if the Acromantula was still out there, lurking at the line in which it could not cross. He could almost imagine it standing there, wanting revenge. Sirius didn't blame it - if someone had just used an Unforgivable Curse on him, he'd want to get back at whoever did it. Sirius wasn't even sure if he felt bad for what he did. He had to, right? But then again, why didn't he use a more tame spell, something that couldn't get locked up in Azkaban for? Was it in his blood to use the cruellest curse thought of in a situation? It angered him deeply. He didn't even feel like himself at that point in time. At that exact moment, he felt like he did whenever his friends weren't around him, and when he was at home with nothing to amuse himself with. It felt as if he was trapped in his head. He just sat there, staring into the darkness at nothing, pretending about all the things he could have done.
Sirius heard Alecto stir next to him. She was still bleeding, which he wasn't happy about. In fact, he had hoped that he had been imagining that part. She mumbled barely audible words, but he understood. "What happened? I don't know, possibly that you passed out just a giant spider was attacking us. The shriek you heard was me trying to get the spider away from us so I could save your unconscious ass."
Sirius sounded spiteful, for that's what he was. He took a few, deep slow breaths and brought his knees up to his chest. He wrapped his arms around his legs and pinched the bridge of his nose, trying to get himself to calm down. He was angry, confused, and couldn't be further from the way he portrayed himself in front of other people. He honestly didn't know how to react to any of it, and every time she spoke, he felt himself becoming gradually more and more frustrated. He had his eyes closed, and wished that when he opened them again, he would be back in his bed in his dormitory, listening to a couple of the other boys snore. This had to be a dream, it just had to be. It would make things make a lot more sense. When he finally opened his eyes again, he looked back at Alecto to notice that she pulled her shirt up to examine her wound. It was worse than he imagined it to have been, and the sight of it just further irritated him, and for that he really didn't know why. That hadn't been anyone's fault, and probably still would have happened, regardless if she was awake or not.
Sirius watched as she ripped her shirt off, barely covering what needed to be covered, and put pressure on it. He saw just as clearly as she probably did that it wasn't going to clot anytime soon. He didn't know what to do - his mind was too scrambled to think of if he knew any healing spells. Well, he knew he did, for he wasn't a great duelest from theory, but his mind was blanking on any. Especially due to the fact that when Alecto laid down, she was greatly exposed. He knew that her body would be nice, but not this nice. Sirius' thoughts were completely inappropriate for the moment, but he was male after all, and he was Sirius Black. It was almost comforting in his mind that he still acted somewhat like himself at that moment. He took a few more deep breaths, trying to get as much anger out of him as possible.
"Let me look at your wound," he said, moving closer to Alecto, remembering a couple of healing spells. He was afraid he'd probably have to use a bit more of an advanced one, but she did make a point about going to Madam Pomfrey. Sirius already had enough detentions to attend that week alone. "I want to make sure there's nothing in your wound before I try to heal it so I don't close it up with something inside."
Sirius moved Alecto's hand out of the way without even asking for her permission. He took the wet and bloody cloth off of her, and then touched around the wound. The touching was merely for his own pleasure, but he wouldn't admit it. Sirius took out his wand and said, "Lumos." The tip of his wand lit up, and he put it to the wound, looking as far in as he could. He hated to have to mend someone he didn't get along with, but like he had thought before, he didn't want to have to go to the Hospital Wing. It was clearly the lesser of two evils. Sirius didn't see anything, but pressed around the cut and said, "Other than the stinging from the cut, does that hurt?" Honestly, he was pressing much harder than necessary in order to hurt her just a little bit out of his frustration with her. It was her fault that they got caught out there (for if she wasn't out there, he would have just kept running aroudn like a dog), it was her fault that she fainted, and it was her fault that she was injured at that moment. He knew that he shouldn't even be helping her at all, but he felt as if he had already done enough damage as the spider, and he wanted to ease his conscious just a little by helping Alecto. Besides, if nothing else, after this Alecto would have to owe him some kind of favour, and as he sat there prodding her, he started to think up all the humiliating things that he could. Alecto Carrow was in pain, so much was certain. She grinned her teeth together, she wasn't one of those girls who easily had pain you know. She was actually more solid than most other people. Quidditch wounds were common to her, she was used to have a few bruises upon her legs and arms. Heck, she was used to physical pain, let alone emotional pain. Yes, she was a tough one... You see, when that thing with Rabastan happened, something broke inside her. Her purity, her naivete, you may call it. She'd gone back to her bedroom after he'd left her, and quite frankly, through all the tears she'd been crying, she'd brushed her knuckles against the wall...
Perhaps brushing wasn't the best word to describe it though, because moments later, when her hand had first met the wall of her bedroom, Amycus had come storming in, seeing his sister in tears, blood dangling from her hand. He'd put his arms around her tiny waist, pulled her close to him and hugged her all through her pain. She'd cried, heck, she'd bawled her eyes out and that night, she'd slept in her brother's arms... the only one who had been able to comfort her and had made her promise never to hurt herself again like that. She'd made the promise, but soon after she'd gone back to Hogwarts after the Christmas Holidays she'd found a new way of inflecting pain upon herself.
She'd entered Hogwarts and already the news of what Rabastan had done had spread through the castle. She'd felt terrible, but her head was still held high, as she had a plan forming in the back of her mind. Yes, Rabastan was glad that he'd been the first to fool the young but gorgeous Alecto Carrow. So, what would be best to get her name back? Her purity had already been put to the test, so what was stopping her? Exactly, nothing. From that moment on, she slept around with men, they all hurt her most of the time, being too wild and too demanding for the young Slytherin. But soon enough, a mask had been put up, one that wasn't so easy to break. She didn't care about the world, she didn't care what happened to other people. Soon, she became the harsh and evil person everybody knew her to be. She'd been broaken, but nobody would have see her in that way ever again...
And now of course, it was her reputation that she was a cold hard bitch that couldn't be hurt. After all, feelings, whether it was physically or emotionally could not affect her. And yet, here she was, breathing hard with a wound that stung like nothing else she had ever experienced. And it was getting to her. The mask she seemed to have on constantly softly faded away as she swallowed back the pain. "Sirius.", she said in something that was only a bare whisper. A question had bugged her from the first moment she'd woken up. "The acromentula didn't put his venom in me, did it?", her voice was quivering, sounding raspy, though uncharacteristically soft and warm for a person that normally was so cold. Why was she actually being 'nice' to Sirius Black? She figured he was what she needed right now, though she would never admit it. She needed him to be here right now, taking care of the wound, because Merlin knows she couldn't... and perhaps, one tiny bit of her wanted him here because she couldn't face being alone right now, but she would never admit that.
He pressed his hands on her, a little harder than was necessary and she yelped in pain. Her hand immediately went to the soar spot and she bit her lip, refusing to break down. She'd already put her mask down for a few moments, but she would not break down, certainly not because of physical pain, she was tougher than that. She sat up straight again, leaning on her outstretched arms before she took her wand out of her pocket. Out of thin air a glass was conjured, she looked at Sirius but didn't want to be dependent on him so instead of asking, she leaned forward, her hand clutched to her side where the wound was as she dipped the glass into the lake. The wound needed to be cleaned, on pure self-esteem and gritted teeth she filled the glass with water. She sat back up straight but the glass next to her and flinched again. Her breathing was hard, and she could do nothing else than lay down again, letting her breath slow down, her heart stop racing so that she could clean the wound when her body was ready for it...

Sirius looked back up to Alecto's face to see that she was cringing at his touch. He pulled away almost too quickly, suddenly aware of what he was doing. Not only did he feel frustrated at the whole situation, he was aware that he was frustrated at himself. No, he hadn't seen anything within her cut, but she was still bleeding. He honestly couldn't remember the last time he had seen someone in so much pain. Sirius honestly felt guilty. Alecto hadn't really ever done anything to him or his friend to deserve this, as far as he was aware, and when she called out his name, he knew he was just being a jerk. He watched as Alecto conjured a glass, and then dipped it into the lake for water. She laid down without doing anything with it, and it was almost like his brain froze, not sure of what to do. Her chest rised and fell rapidly, and he was worried that something had gone severely wrong when her side had been slashed.
"I... I don't think he did," Sirius said with an uncharacteristic stutter. Never had he actually felt this worried before. Well, he had before, when he discovered what Remus truly was, and during a couple of close calls with James during Quidditch matches, but this was different. This was partially his fault, and besides, when he found out Remus was a werewolf, he had already transformed many times, and the close calls with James were always surrounded by professors. Here, it was just the two of them. He prayed that she wouldn't remember the way his face looked panicked. He even stopped thinking of all the things she could do to try to pay him back. Realistically, he wanted to just walk back up to the school and forget about this Slytherin, but the Gryffindor in him wouldn't let him do it. He knew he'd never forgive himself for allowing someone who had done nothing more than bicker with him become seriously injured or even die. Snivellus? Well, that was a different story. Sirius hated that boy with every fibre of his body, and if Snape was here, he would have no problem just leaving him here. Then again, he wouldn't have even transformed out of dog form if he saw Snivelly in the words. Sirius probably would have just went back to the Gryffindor common room, awoke Remus, and got Remus to get Snape in trouble. If an Acromantula attacked Snape, Sirius would do nothing, and he knew it. However, Sirius went back into wound-inspection mode. He looked around it and said, "I think it punctured you with a leg or something... there's little hairs around the opening."
With that realization, he knew that there would be nothing in the wound. He took the cup of water, and slowly began pouring some of it onto the gash, occasionally dabbing with the cloth. She winced, but that would be expected from ice cold water going onto and into an injury. The blood that had begun to dry washed away, and he helped by wiping her stomach with the cloth. It was still winter after all, and realized that she was probably freezing. He took off his jacket like he would have if she was just any other girl, and put it on top of her, while still leaving the cut exposed. He continued trying to clean it, and finally he took out his wand in an attempt to fix it.
Sirius' hand was quite calm, even to his own surprise. He pointed his wand at it, hoping for it to work as he said, "Episkey."
The would shut just a bit, causing it to be smaller, and less blood to flow. It still wasn't fully healed, but he hadn't really expected it to be. The spell was primarily used to heal small injuries, like small broken bones and the like. Her wound was a little more serious. It was enough, he hoped, to be able to be bandaged so that it would finish healing on it's own, probably with just a bit of a scar leftover. He hoped it was enough so that maybe, by some chance of luck, be able to go back to Hogswarts and get some sleep before classes. It was already quite late, and he was honestly surprised that the two of them hadn't been spotted by any professor as of yet.

Sirius' eyes, they told her something that she couldn't place well. She'd never seen that look on him before. Then again she'd only seen his face when they were bickering or when he was flirting with some girl down in the hallways. Was, was it panic? She swallowed, was the wound that bad? She hoped not. He stumbled over his words and she did her best not to be scared. Goddammit it was so cold. Winter, ugh, how she hated winter. But that was probably only because she was half-naked with her shirt half-ripped. Merlin, she loved that shirt so much...
And then, to much of her dismay, Sirius said there were still some hairs of the spider's leg on the entrance of her wound. She shivered, panic rising again. Why, oh why was she so scared of those bloody nasty eight-legged animals? Sirius took the cup and let the freezing water rush over the wound. Any hairs or filth that would be in it rushed out as the water cleaned her body. The rusty color of the blood she'd lost was washed away. The blood that was leaving her body was now slowing down it's pace, though it was still flowing. And then, Sirius put his wand to her body, saying a spell that normally only healed small cuts. Her skin tingled and seemed to stretch itself. Would the spell leave marks? Would the wound be too big for it to heal properly?
It seemed it was. The cut was smaller than before, most of the blood had stopped rushing out of her body. She sat up straight again, smiling softly as she took Sirius' jacket of her stomach and quickly draped it around her shoulders. It still stung, but she felt slightly better now that the large cut was minimized. She took a deep breath, her hand still clung to her side and her head turned towards the boy that was sitting next to her. She seemed to struggle with her words, opening her mouth a few times before closing it again. Sighing softly, she finally spoke again, her words being slightly hoarse. "Thank you." she said. After all, she owed him big time. He'd saved her when even most of her friends would have left her.
Yes, painful as it might be, Alecto knew that had it been anyone else than Sirius, most of her Slytherin friends would have left her alone there, saving their own buts without thinking about the other person that could possibly die. She swallowed hard at the thought of it. "Most people would have just left me there." She met his gaze, trying to see what he was thinking. Her own facade was down now, only if it was for a few seconds. The barrier that was always up was falling down because someone seemed to take care of her for once. Though if you asked her it would be because of the frenzy she was in, caused by the pain she was feeling.
It was perhaps because he was a Gryffindor, heck they were meant to be brave, but did that mean Slytherins wouldn't stand up for their own sort? Or was it just that nobody could be trusted? Not even her best friends? She swallowed again, staring into the distance over the lake. The bleeding had stopped by now and she was sure the wound would heal, but there would always be a scar. She cleared her throat, shaking her head as she tried to push the depressed thoughts off her mind. Of course her friends would have done the same, wouldn't they?
It was getting late and both of them probably needed some sleep. Her gaze tore back from the lake as she looked back at Sirius. "You can go, you know." she whispered softly, looking so much more than her younger self when she had actually been nice. " Don't worry, I won't tell anybody that you helped me, so it won't ruin your reputation.", she said with a lopsided grin before staring back into the lake. She needed to stay a little longer, just to sort her mind, to rest a little. She wasn't making him go away, she just figured he wanted go get out of here as quickly as possible... After all, nobody could know that he had helped a Slytherin, let a lone Alecto Carrow.
