As Annelise smiled, Remus couldn't stop his lips from doing the same. “I love Christmas too. I just love the snow falling, the warm fires, the closeness of loved ones...” Remus nodded a little silently, equally wondering about him and Annelise and the next Christmas. He could easily imagine a Christmas with Annelise, really, provided it wasn't a full moon Christmas, of course. Oh, and she'd have to stay at Hogwarts, as Remus usually didn't go home for Christmas, really. If only he had known her thoughts.
Even if things wouldn't work out between them, Remus wasn't the type to never speak to anyone anymore. At least.. that's what he thought. Of course, Remus had never had a real relationship with anyone, so who knows how he might react once things go wrong. If things go wrong.
Remus was glad that Annelise wasn't in any way offended that he put her present away. Well, he had a good reason and she wasn't the person to feel offended over such things, but Remus was still extremely afraid to scare her away. He liked her too much, really, and although sometimes it brought out the more spontaneous side in him, at other moments he'd be almost afraid to speak in fear that she might change her mind about him. As most fear, it was irrational, but it was still there. Hence why he smiled a little relieved when she laughed. “You don’t mind if I leave these here for now, do you? I just don’t think going down there with them would be the best idea either.” He smiled back a little, less relieved now, more gentle. "Of course you can leave them here, it wouldn't do if someone spilled something on them," he agreed. If there was something Remus couldn't stand it was people eating or drinking and reading, making their book into a real life what-did-I-snack-today diary.
As she's mentioned also leaving her books in his dorm before going back to the party, Remus had expected Annelise to go downstairs with him again now, but in stead, she sat down on the bed next to him. Remus couldn't help but admit he was a little surprised, although he was by now so trained in not showing sudden emotions, that it wasn't quite readable on his face. “You know, I really love spending all this time with you...” Remus blushed mildly and smiled. "Likewise," he softly said. The advice Annelise had gotten from her friends sounded like the advice Sirius had given Remus (which Remus had ignored): don't be too nice. How could one be too nice, after all? Plus.. Remus liked being nice.. “I mean ... I just wanted to let you know you mean a lot to me, and I’m happy that you practically ran me over at the staircase.” Remus' vocal cords instantly stopped cooperating. Or well, maybe not his vocal cords, but at least his brain. He had to say something nice back now, didn't he? And not say the wrong thing? Say something good? On the spot? Now? "I- Thank you, you mean a lot to me too," he stammered, blushing yet again a little deeper as he realised he'd just echoed what she said - that probably made it sound as though he didn't care at all. "I-I mean, I wouldn't, eh- Well.." He could feel his blush increase as he stammered, and the fact he realised he was blushing only made it worse. "I-I really do care," he blurted out eventually, "even though running you over on a flight of stairs might make it seem otherwise. Not-not that I did that on purpose, of course, I just-" Remus swallowed and raked a hand through his hair. "I'm making an ass out of myself now, aren't I?" he muttered, still blushing rather fiercely but grinning a little lopsidedly now he realised how stupid he probably looked and that it could hardly get worse. "What- what I meant was.. if that's not, well, soon or anything.." He glanced at Annelise briefly before gathering all his courage and saying, while still looking at her (which was so, so difficult for him). "Would you like to be, well, you know - my girlfriend?"
[Couldn't help myself, Rem's adorable when he stutters and blushes xD]

He felt Lena's hand on his shoulder and the nudging push as she told him to go get her. He dearly wanted to go over and talk with Lily, but he knew it would end up the same. Her getting mad at him and stomping off. Of course not before telling him off yet again. What exactly was it between them? They were like oil and water when it came to a conversation. One would think after five years in the same house that they could at least carry on a conversation for more than 5 minutes without her taking something he said or did and twisting it into a reason to push him away. Nope he would stay right where he was, besides didn't he resolve to move on past Lily to be with other girls? (No matter if he chose the safe ones to be with). Yes Lena was 'safe' for even though she is a girl he never saw her in that way that boys see girls. She was more like a buddy, perhaps a sister, a friend that happened to be a girl, one to hang with and not get personal complications with. One to have a good time with though not in a sexual way. And it was high time they had a good time. Just as he turned back towards Lena with every intention to asking her to dance she suddenly said she felt ill and bolted saying to tell Remus Happy Birthday. He frowned as he watched her hurry up the stairs towards the dorm, wondering if the drink was what made her ill. He had given her that Butter Beer drink, perhaps someone spiked it with something to make folks puke. Couldn't have the party ruined before it truly got started by a prankster. He looked at his empty glass, then moved over to the Butter Beer bowl with the fountain that he had gotten Lena's drink from. Refilling his glass, he took a long drink. It tasted just like Butter Beer should. He glanced over at Lily, then picked up a coconut shaped glass and filled it up with the warm brew. He could at least take her something to drink, it couldn't hurt, besides he was one of the hosts for the party. It would be rude not to at least greet her. So drinks in hand he made his way over to her. Flashing a smile as he stopped in front of her. "Evening Evans... Welcome to the Tropical Paradise birthday party! Glad you could make it" he handed her the glass of butter beer and pointed about the room as he continued speaking. "We have all kinds of tropical refreshments and some traditional ones, along with entertainment. There's dancing and over there is a hot tub if you are so inclined to take a dip." Yes he was acting the perfect host, giving her the visual tour of the party. Until he ran out of something to say... so he said the first thing that popped into his mind .. "You look very beautiful tonight." Ugh ... why did he blurt that out? Even though it was the truth she would think he was coming on to her yet again. That he was a hormonal boy with nothing on his mind but getting some. Going after her as if she was in heat or something. When it was the furtherest thing on his mind. word count 573 Outfit - Jungle Feversong- The Lion Sleeps Tonight and for Gilderoy - George of the Jungle (LMAO)

Lily smiled a little, when James came over towards her. It was nothing special, it was just well friendly. She after all told her self that she would try and get along with him. She figured she might as well start with being a hundred times nicer then she normally was when he walked up to her. Besides it wasn't as if he said anything stupid. She nodded at him, when he greeted her. "Evening and err thanks" she replied back when he gave her the butter beer. That had been something she hadn't exactly expected. Lily nodded and listened to everything he had to say about the party. Her eyes even followed as he gave her the visual tour of the common room. Lily almost didn't even recognize it really. It looked different from what it normally did. Everything looked nice too, not that their common room wasn't nice. There had obviously been a lot of work put into this party. That was another reason why Lily deciding being nice for now wouldn't hurt. If she made a huge scene the party would be ruined. It would suck the fun out of everything. She didn't want to do that. His next words caught her off guard a bit. They didn't exactly shock her, as he was always hitting on her. He was always telling her something along those lines. It's just that she thought something like that would have been the very first thing out of his mouth. Instead he actually said something else. He actually greeted her, tired to talk. All the same though, Lily couldn't help but to blush. Did he really think that? "I..Thank you" she replied quietly. A part of her was obviously at a loss for words. She bit her lower lip a little and looked around. She then decided she might as well just tell him. "Look I know that normally I usually yell at you for something like that, hitting on me and all that. I just figured it couldn't hurt to TRY and be nice, especially for tonight. It won't be the easiest thing to do, but the last thing I want is to ruin the night by making this huge scene" she replied. Lily cared for Remus and she wanted this day to be special for him, like everyone else. If that meant she would have to keep a civil tongue with his friends..his BEST friends, then she would. "In fact to be honest I thought something like that would have been the very first thing out of your mouth" she said truthfully. "Not the greeting, or you acting like a proper host" she added. Annelise smiled about Remus' comment about her books.
"No, it really wouldn't do at all," she agreed, pleasantly. The concept of something happening to them bothered her more than she really let on. It was the first gift she had ever gotten from someone other than family, never mind from a boy she fancied very much. Besides, she was actually craving to dig into them. For the first time ever, she didn't even think of writing in her journal that night about all of the people she had encountered and such. In fact, since she thought of it, she realized she hadn't done it in days. She wasn't altogether sure if that was a good thing or bad.
Annelise's smile only widened when he admitted to really enjoying spending time with her as well. She knew, of course, that he did, but it was nice to hear nonetheless. He looked as if he had something to say, so she waited patiently. He looked more awkward than she had ever seem him, but she found it extremely endearing, although she couldn't help but notice that it felt like her heart was about to pound from her chest, and she didn't know why. It was almost like Annelise had a feeling that something was about to come, even though she couldn't put her finger on what it was.
Annelise let out a small laugh nervously when he said that she meant a lot to him as well, due to the fact that he practically echoed her. She didn't mind, however, for it was still sweet. He began to blush, so she looked away in hopes that his embarassment would fade. She listened to him ramble and wanted to either comfort him or just let him continue on. She ended up doing the latter, and was happy that she had done so at his question.
Annelise looked back at him, beaming.
"Of course I will!" she exclaimed rather enthusiastically. Annelise blushed at the loudness of her voice and then coughed unnecessarily in order to cause a distraction. How much at that moment she wished she could go back in time even just a minute so that she wouldn't appear as if she was Remus' stalker. "I mean... well, I think you know what I meant..."
Annelise trailed off and decided that the window was suddenly interesting. She knew she was overreacting... her loudness hadn't been that bad, had it?

Her smile triggered the feeling of the rush of excited joy one gets when you make the person you care about happy. Though it was probably just a smile in response to his, nevertheless it was a smile that caused his hopeful reaction. Perhaps this time things will be different. Snivellus wasn't about to butt his abnormally large nose into the conversation, thus giving him the opportunity. Perhaps the ONE chance he has been looking for... he just hoped he didn't blow it. Though he was quite sure he just shot his chance to hell as he watched her turn red matching her hair and thank him quietly. Feeling quite awkward knowing he has just messed up he looked down at his glass and then took a drink as she bit her lip and looked about the room for a distraction or perhaps Remus to come save her from him. Well she needn't worry about that, he could see that he should leave, move away and give her space, her I need to get away from James Potter space. He was just about to leave when she spoke to him... Look I know that normally I usually yell at you for something like that, hitting on me and all that. I just figured it couldn't hurt to TRY and be nice, especially for tonight. It won't be the easiest thing to do, but the last thing I want is to ruin the night by making this huge scene. In fact to be honest I thought something like that would have been the very first thing out of your mouth ... Not the greeting, or you acting like a proper host"I...err." he looked up past Lily as if searching the palm fronds for the words he didn't have. Why was it this way with her? Why couldn't he talk without in someway saying the wrong thing? Was he trying too hard? He wasn't this way with any other girl just Lily. With other girls he could just talk and joke with Lily he as a blithering idiot. He sighed and ran his hand through his hair messing it up more than usual before looking at her. "I'm sorry I didn't mean it." OMG his mind screamed at what he just said! Merlin she was going to think he didn't mean it that she was beautiful. "NO! ... wait!" Totally flabbergasted now he could feel himself turning red half with embarrassment and half mad at himself as he continued to make matters worse as usual. "I did mean it ... that you are ... I ... I just didn't mean to say it out loud, to you .. umm .. so you could hear." Sighing again he wondered just where that distraction was, the one to interrupt this fool and save him from himself. But it didn't seem as if one was about. Remus was upstairs with his girl and Sirius was busy with his new toy, so he had to get himself out of it before Evans blew up at him and ruined the party. "Look," he conceded, running his hand thru his hair again. "I'm sorry, you're right you shouldn't have to 'try' to be nice when clearly the problem is me, no worries I will leave you alone ..." he turned and started off "have fun at the party!" he called over his shoulder to her as he moved towards a refreshment table towards the back. word count 469 Outfit - Jungle Feversong- The Lion Sleeps Tonight and for Gilderoy - George of the Jungle (LMAO)

Remus thought he probably looked like a blabbering idiot who could hardly say his own name without stuttering and, really, he couldn't imagine Annelise finding that in any way endearing or adorable. He just thought it was stupid - very stupid - and he wished he was more like Sirius again. Sirius wouldn't have any trouble being charming and confident, and surely that was a lot better. The moment he'd started stumbling over his own tongue and his brain had decided to just ask Annelise not so very eloquently if she'd like to be his girlfriend (when had his head decided that? wasn't he in control of his thoughts? not that he didn't mean it, but still..), the fear that this night would be a disaster crept into his eyes.
She laughed, but she laughed nervously, and Remus thought he could literally feel himself shrink on the spot. Oh, Merlin, this was going to be terrible, why did he have to act on a spur of the moment thing? He had never been so afraid. No, wait, he had been so afraid before, before his first transformation, when he was only nine years old, but at least his mother had explained to him what was coming. That it would hurt, but that it would be only once every four weeks and that he had to be strong - that it would be over tomorrow. Oh God.. if Annelise said no now, it would not be over tomorrow at all. It would be so much worse than transforming; even if the first time had been more than hell.
He sort of held his breath after he'd asked the question. He'd decided to ask it anyway, he'd started rambling now, he'd better end with the question he was planning or it wouldn't have been worth it, anyway, right? Remus was just a little surprised to see Annelise - smiling? Very happily? "Of course I will!" Remus blinked for a moment, the words taking a moment to get through in his brain, somehow, before he muttered (rather incredulously): "Really?" He was surprised, but very pleasantly so.
"I mean... well, I think you know what I meant..." Remus nodded a little stupidly and bit his lower lip when she looked away towards the window. He swallowed. "Yeah, I know." He smiled at Annelise slightly. "Thanks - I mean, that doesn't even come close but just.." Oh, here he was going again. Mentally, Remus shook his head at himself and eventually just leaned in to peck Annelise on the cheek a little hesitantly. He sure hoped someone had given him bottled courage for his birthday or something, he felt like he needed some.
[Don't worry about his seeming lack of enthusiasm, he's just insecure xD]

Post by Peter E. Pettigrew on Aug 16, 2010 7:38:05 GMT 1
Peter had been at detention. The annoying thing was it was Remus' birthday, he was missing out and the party would probably nearly be over. Not to mention that what he had been detained for wasn't even his fault, but he was used to getting into trouble for things he didn't do or that he had been a very small, insignificant part of. Peter was used to missing out on things but he was glad to have friends, even if they were a bit crummy and he wasn't sure why he liked them some of the times.
Pushing his way through the mass of skin, Peter didn't really see many people he wanted to socialise with. James was talking with Lily and surprisingly looked nervous or something, very odd for James, there was a big space in the dance floor where that idiot Ravenclaw was dancing with that Slytherin James got on with and Sirius was flirting with Christina, Finola's older sister aaaand then they were gone. Great. Remus couldn't be seen so he was just going to be left alone. He really just hoped the party would be over with soon so that he could relax in the tropical looking common room without anyone bugging him or there being too much noise.
Great, just bloody great. Heading up to the seventh years dorm as he was told the fifth may be in use -wink wink nudge nudge- Peter got changed. Sirius had put out the clothes for him because he'd have ended up going as a gorilla or something stupid and uncool and he couldn't go making the Marauders look uncool, only he and James could because they could make uncool cool or something like that. He wasn't sure, all he knew was that he had to get changed into the most ridiculous costume he'd ever seen and then go out in public like it. On the plus side he'd probably get left alone because no one really liked him and he didn't really like anyone apart from Finola and Vanessa.
Pulling the straps of his costume up over his shoulders, Peter was glad it wasn't just a skimpy loincloth, though Sirius probably wasn't wanting to scare all the girls away from the party. Peter tended to repel girls, he wasn't as handsome as James or Sirius and he wasn't anywhere near as smart as Remus nor was he just plain sweet, he was an idiot to all intense and purposes and so he just sort of got left in the shadows, ignored or forgotten about by girls and that just sort of suited him nicely really until he wanted company or someone to protect him from a bully.
Heading down to the common room Peter edged his way around the room, not really looking up from the floor. He made it to one of the common room sofa's that had been pushed up against a wall and sat down on it, knees together, hands clasped on lap twiddling his thumbs. This really wasn't his sort of thing, all he wanted to do was wish Remus a happy birthday but Remus hadn't been anywhere to seen. Maybe he was in t he boys dorms. Peter thought about heading up but then thought of the things Remus could be doing in the dorm. He shook his head in disgust. Ew, he was not going into their dorm, just in case Remus was in there, with a girl, doing ... stuff.

"PARTY TIME STARTS NOW!" ED burst through the doors a few moments after Diggers, despite having left ahead. He had got lost and gone into a broom cupboard until HAyman had pulled him out and shoved him in the right direction.
HE looked around, adjusting the straps on the leopard print bra and put a hand on Diggers' shoulder. "Did they sing Happy Birthsday yet?" THere was a small slur but for the most part, Edward Stenwick din't seem to be too drunk.
He started to wander in the direction of one of the dancing girls but his feet lead him astray and he ended up heading for a nearby wall. HE managed to get himself righted and dis-disorientated, and saw a sofa. Grinning, he ran and took a flying leap onto it, clearing the arm of the chair, and the one person sitting on it. Hopefully.
His head lolled back and he looked at the boy in the caveman costume. Probably a 4th year or something. He grinned upside down at the boy behind him. "hiii-iii." THe sing-song tone would betray his alcohol ingestion, if the smell of whisky wasn't already on him. He ran a hand through his hair and leant against caveboy's shoulder. "'M'Ed s'lovely to meet you." He offered his hand, not at all embarassed by his leopard print bra and bikini bottoms.

Lily shook her head. "No..I mean you don't have to" she replied honestly. He hadn't done anything wrong. Telling Lily once that she looked nice or beautiful didn't hurt. It was when he did it constantly, that annoyed her. That wasn't even her biggest problem with him though. Her biggest problem with him though, was the fact He acted out so much. She wanted someone a bit more mature then him and right now he wasn't all that bad. She just didn't k now how long that would last. "You just need to tone it down that's all. You've done nothing wrong, yet" she said emphasizing the yet part. Lily wasn't sure how long that was gong to last though that was the only problem.
He knew he was probably a kid at heart and he loved fooling around. Fighting someone three or four to one, is far from mature and is hardly fair. She just hoped he would grow out of it a little bit, but knew he probably wouldn't completely. She wanted him to act a bit more mature though becasue he wasn't all that bad. Lily would never admit it, but he was pretty good looking. Lily just like guys who acted more matrue then James acts most of the time and sure the fact he was only, almost sixteen could have something to do with that. I mean it takes a while for boys to mature, but still. .
