One big problem with the Marauders was that James and Remus' birthdays were so close together. Sirius could hardly have another party within Hogwarts due to the fact that like usual, he had been told off for Remus' party. It had been hard to think up anything that would surpass Remus' birthday, and Sirius honestly couldn't think of anything that would outdo it. Instead, he had called up the owner of the Three Broomsticks to see if he could have a party there. They had gotten special permission, providing there was no underage drinking. Naturally, Sirius already had pre-party bags available to give out to all the guests. All that was inside were flasks full of Firewhiskey. He didn't bother with butter beer as the Three Broomsticks could supply that. It wasn't nearly as special as Remus' birthday, but it was nice all the same. Besides, this was James' birthday, after all. He didn't really require all of the bells and whistles considering he was a main attraction himself. The biggest problem with using the Three Broomsticks was that they couldn't prevent Slytherins or Professors to show up considering they had to go during the day. Sirius didn't expect to go home after dark, however, considering he had pocketed the Invisibility Cloak before he had left. This party was not meant to be a surprise. In all actuality, he sort of hoped that maybe one of the others would come out with an idea to snaz it up. Sirius began to walk down to the Three Broomsticks by himself. The sky was grey and threatening to rain, but he didn't mind. He was wondering who was going to show up to this one, epecially since Remus' party had not been long ago. He was even running late, and didn't really expect to be the first one there.

Okay, James was the greatest, there was no denying it and so for him to have a birthday party in the three broomsticks during the day with no underage drinking was a little itty but sucky so Dorcas had managed to 'persuade' a first year gryffindor to give her the password to the common room and had snuck up to his dorm and left a good sized package of alcoholic drinks for him to start on. There were a couple of big bottles a few medium sized ones and plenty of little miniature bottles of all kinds. You couldn't have the birthday boy being sober on his birthday no could you? It would be an outrage. It just wouldn't do.
Getting dressed up a bit and heading down to the three broomsticks, Dorcas was glad the weather was on her side. It was threatening to rain but that was all, there wasn't a single drop. Hopefully people would be inclined to turn up because it was James' party, even though the place would probably be over flowing with fan girls. That was the problem with such a public place, all of James Potter's and Sirius Black's fan girls would be able to find them quite easily. Oh well, those boys seemed to like attention. Dorcas didn't know about Sirius but James certainly did, he wouldn't scruff up his hair so bad if he wasn't.
Getting to the pub earlier than was expected, Dorcas had brought down a few little touches. Madam Rosmerta pointed her to the back of the pub where there was some music playing and Dorcas started getting to work. She charmed the streamers to fall from the ceiling but only reach a certain point before they disappeared and went back up to the top to fall again, people didn't want their hair getting messed up now did they. Next the balloon's were spread about around the room in little clusters and Dorcas asked Rosmerta if the cake could be kept somewhere cool. Rosmerta obliged and put the cake out the back for later so it wouldn't get wrecked or fallen on. Next were the banners wishing James a happy birthday and then it was done, at least what she had brought down anyway. She didn't know if anyone else was bringing anything but what the heck, she didn't really care, she was first there and first to set up, James did require something after all, even if it looked like a five years olds party.
Dorcas didn't worry too much, she went to the bar and ordered herself a fire whisky. Drinking in the middle of the day wasn't always good, but that didn't bother Dorcas, she had the inept ability to drink no matter what time of day it was and not to care about the time, something few people could do. Once she'd knock back the first shot, she order a double on the rocks just as a few people started spilling into the pub one after the other and making their way to the back of the room. Rosmerta had put out some finger foods on a couple of long tables that the house elves had prepared up at the school. Dorcas wondered how long it would be before the birthday boy himself arrived or even just someone she could talk to for a bit. Hopefully this party didn't get ruined by annoying little idiots ... or big ones for that matter.

Clothing: click meeeeWord Count: 701 Lena took a deep breath as she looked in her full length mirror, having a sense of déjà vu. She was pretty sure this was what she had been doing right before she went to Remus’ birthday party. Now it was James’ birthday party. It was hard having two of the marauders’ birthday’s in the same month. Parties mere weeks apart was difficult to do. It was why she was pretty glad that this one wasn’t themed of any kind and she could wear what she wanted. The party would be at the Three Broomsticks and once she was finished getting ready, she would head down the trail to Hogsmeade to get there. She knew there would be a lot more alcohol at this party than at Remus’ because, well, it was for James. And the Chaser liked to drink. She would have to watch what she grabbed to drink because Lena just did not hold alcohol well. It was why she stuck to butterbeer, or something tamer such as tea. Hopefully this party would go better than the last one in that the birthday boy didn’t disappear as soon as he got there. That just hadn’t been good luck at all.
She laid a hand on her belly, studying her body in the mirror, wearing the black strapless bra and panty set she would be wearing under her dress. The beautiful red dress that would highlight against her skin and was sexy enough to make her look seductive but not sexy enough to make her look like a slut. It really didn’t show that much of her skin except for her arms, shoulders, and most of her legs. Lena had bought the dress one day while in London when she’d seen it in the window and had fallen in love with it. She didn’t know it would come in handy but she was glad she grabbed it and brought it with her this year, just in case. She finished looking over her curvy but short body and slid the dress on, turning to face away from the mirror to concentrate on pulling the zipper up all the way. Lena turned back and smoothed her hands down it, enjoying the satin fabric against her palms. She waved her wand a little at her hair so it fell in soft curls around her face. The last things were that she pulled on a pair of black peep-toe shoes, a diamond bracelet, and matching eardrop dangle earrings. Lena looked over herself, biting her lip as she decided she quite liked how she looked. A few touches of eyeliner, eyeshadow, and lipstick, she was good to go.
Lena grabbed her jacket and James’ present and headed out of the dorm, pulling the jacket on as she walked down the stairs. She was actually very lucky she didn’t trip and fall. It didn’t take long for her to get to the Three Broomsticks and she raised an eyebrow, looking around at the decorations. She didn’t notice Sirius when she walked in; she was too busy looking around. Lena slid her jacket off and put it up before setting her present down on a table that was steadily filling with gifts from other people. She did notice the Slytherin girl from Remus’ party and sent her a little wave, before ordering a drink from Madam Rosemerta. She finally noticed Sirius as she waited for her drink and her mind flashed back to what happened in the library, making her bite her bottom lip softly. She didn’t really know how to act yet. Was she supposed to just act like nothing had happened? That they hadn’t kissed, that he hadn’t hurt her? She really didn’t know. So she figured it would probably be a best idea to just wait and let him make the first move. How he acted toward her would tell her how she should react.
Lena walked over to the girl and knew she was probably the one who decorated. This wasn’t like something the guys could come up with, so it had to be her. “The decorations are nice. I don’t think we really met last time they had a party. I’m Lena.”

Dorcas looked around the pub wondering when James' friends would arrive. Surely they would all be here soon, it was the weekend so none of them had lessons or would be studying, would they? Oh well, it didn't really matter to her, what did she care about his little friends? she was here for him and even if none of his other friends didn't turn up, they could have an amazingly awesome time on their own. There was plenty of alcohol she could smuggle to him, even though he was technically underage, they could get wasted and talk about a whole load of crap that would take a normal pair about thirty seconds but would take them close to an hour because of drink spills and mispronunciation of words and even forgetfulness of the topic.
Dorcas saw a few more shallow friends come in, people James probably wouldn't ever recognise. There were a few of the Gryffindor Quidditch team, those she recognised as she'd had the pleasure of kicking their arses on the quidditch pitch at the beginning of the school year. And then there was that little brown haired girl that she'd briefly said hello to at Remus' party. Dorcas turned back to the bar and took a sip of her double fire whisky when she heard a voice, she whipped around and saw the little girl and smiled politely at her, briefly wondering what her blood line was like, she couldn't help it, it was automatic.
"Oh, yeah, thanks. Just figured something needed to be done. The cake's out back. The house elves made it, it looks pretty radical really." Dorcas smiled They didn't really meet last time, she'd briefly said hello and in not exactly a polite way, but at least she hadn't ignored her. "No, we didn't did we. Nice to meet you Lena, I'm Dorcas." Dorcas took another sip at her drink. "So how do you know James? Same house?" Dorcas didn't know everyone and so didn't know their houses or who was with them or even what year they were in but it wasn't anything that couldn't be found out with a few little questions.
"Soft drinks are free up at the bar, no underage drinking unfortunately but if you want anything, talk to James or Sirius, I'm sure they can sweet talk Rosmerta into giving them a little something, those two are her favourite." She said with a soft chuckle. Oh how she could have done with being a favourite of a bar tenders when she was younger. She could have gotten alcohol here that way rather that persuading some almost passed out drunk at the Hogs Head to get her a bottle of fire whisky. Not that the bar tender at the Hogs Head seemed too bothered about who drank there or for what reasons. Though that bloody goat was unhygienic, then again, so was everything else in that run down place.

Sirius managed to get to the Three Broomsticks just as others began to arrive. He entered and cringed at the decorations. He really wished that James' sixteenth could have been a bit more memorable like Remus' had been, but they couldn't cross the line twice in one month. He hoped that James would understand. Besides, next year Sirius had the intention of just merging the two boys' birthdays together so that they could have one big bash and this situation wouldn't occur. Besides, next year was their coming of age. It was something that just had to be remembered.
When Sirius entered, he immediately began to hand out the flasks full of Firewhiskey to those who didn't look like they're twelve. They all accepted it willingly. A lot of people who showed up looked like they had already drank before they showed up. Sirius had already drank a fair amount when he showed up but not enough to be drunk. Just enough to be buzzed and happy. He had been fully aware that Lena would no doubt be there considering she got along with James very well and didn't think she'd miss James' party just to avoid Sirius. He knew he could be wrong, but at the exact moment a red dress caught hit attention, followed by noticing who was in it.
Sirius had hoped in the back of his mind that Lena wouldn't look good and that he only imagined her looking better than she did. Seeing her right then and there, he was proven horribly wrong. She looked gorgeous in the red dress, heels and the jewellery. He abruptly changed course half way to where he was standing and began handing out the flasks to other people while chugging at his own. He knew tonight was going to be a night that he hoped to not remember. The best way to do that was to get completely drunk.

There's one in every crowd, brings the party in us out, good time charley with a harley, whiskey bent and hellbound, he's got the next round, but he always drinks for free, there's one in every crowd, and it's usually me (or Siri)
Saturday. Not an extraordinary day, the start of the weekend. Though some say Friday night starts it. As usual on Saturdays, James got up at sunrise for the Quidditch team practice. Dressing quietly, giving his mates who were in various positions still sleeping a look of envy. Sometimes he wanted to just bug off the practice and sleep in. Today he could do it and no would would say anything about it. For today was Saturday the twenty-seventh ... his sixteenth birthday. There was a party planned later at the Three Broomsticks, so really there wasn't a reason to skip Quidditch. He had plenty of time before the party besides he loved Quidditch and to fly, no reason to not go. Picking up his broomstick he slipped quietly out of the dorm.
Practice went well, though it went longer than expected. They worked on several new team formations and maneuvers that will no doubt surprise their next opponent. Tired, he walked back into the dorm finding it empty. He smiled to himself knowing that his mates were probably making their way to Hogsmeade if not already there for the party. Sure it wasn't going to be as 'brilliant' as Moony's but that didn't matter to him. What mattered was having fun with his friends, no matter where. Stripping he took a shower, letting the water flow over his body, refreshing him. Toweling off, then wrapping the towel around him he left the shower returning to the dorm. That is when he noticed it. A good sized package on his bed.
Dropping the towel he reached for the package. There wasn't a note, so he opened it. It was full of assorted liquor. Smiling he shook his head. One may think the package would be from Sirius but instantly James knew different. The miniature bottles is what gave it away as to whom gave him this gift, a telling signature, a calling card ... Dorcas. She continually amazes him. How she managed to get this package up into his dorm and actually choosing the correct dorm was surprising. He chose a bottle of whiskey and opened it, taking a long drink he felt the warmth flow down his throat and hit his empty stomach. Probably not a good idea since he hadn't eaten but there would be food at the party ... right?
Taking another drink he sat the bottle down and walked over to his trunk and pulled out some jeans and a black T-shirt and a blue denim jacket that he only buttoned the lower part leaving it open at the top. Glancing at the clock he realized he was running late, so he hurriedly stuffed some of the miniature bottles into his pockets. Then picked up the whiskey and took another long pull before leaving the dorm for Hogsmeade.

Holly hadn't planned on doing much over the weekend but homework and studying. It was a saturday and she'd finished all her homework which left her with one of the most boring feelings she could ever imagine. There was nothing exciting to do, actually the more she thought about it the was just nothing to do but study for all the up and coming exams that she knew she'd get good enough grades in. She'd had enough of it all and decided that a trip down to Hogsmeade was in order. It was a Hogsmeade weekend and so there would be no need to sneak about to go out, not that she would as she was a prefect.
Checking over her essays one last time Holly decided that lunch at the Three Broomsticks might be a good idea. A good lunch and butterbeer as she wasn't old enough to drink yet. At least not legally in a public house but if she was at home it would be perfectly fine, or if she had an adult with her then she could order a wine with her meal. Merlin the law was absolutely ridiculous but she would be happy with a butter beer so she didn't know why she was complaining to herself.
The walk down to Hogsmeade was cold and a little tricky, usually she wore her flat shoes though could walk in heels, however walking in heels on pebbled floors was quite tricky and not anything she had to do frequently luckily for her but that meant she was quite unready for the uneven surface when she did have to walk on it in her heels.
Eventually Holly made it down to the three broomsticks and found it was busier than usual. At the back there seemed to be a party going on and Holly's curiosity started to spike wondering who or what the party was for. She noticed the birthday banners and wondered who's birthday it was before she noticed Sirius Black hanging around, handing out something or other. It was probably illegal or at least frowned upon and as a prefect she had a duty to report him, but she'd leave that until she got to the castle. Maybe she could end this little party early if it was for one of those silly Marauders.

And once again another birthday was upon them and yet again it was another one of the mischievous Marauders. But this time it was James Potter and it wasn't being held in the Gryffindor common room but that of the Three Broomstick in the small wizarding village of Hogsmeade not for from the castle. And yet again it had been Sirius who had organized it though the lad hadn't set a theme for this one so she hadn't had to search for a appropriate costume that would fit here figure. Instead she could just where some nice party going clothes for the occasion. Which was a lot easier for Alice as it meant she'd have more time to do her duties as the head girl and her homework as it was vital with her N.E.W.T exams being so close, as she couldn't afford to miss one.
As all felt she owed it to James to come as he had been kind enough to as her to be his date to the Hogwarts Valentines ball. Though he was not the one she had been hoping for she was still glad that he had asked as it was better than going alone. Though nothing much had happened between the two of them Alice still like the boy so she was sure he would mind her attending. So Alice readied herself for the party putting on a rather nice black dress and heels before covering them with a winter clock as despite it was coming into spring it still wasn't overly warm outside. She hadn't done anything to special with her hair as she felt it natural curls went nicely with her outfit and also would distinguish her from the rest of the crowd being a fiery red as only other person with a similar hair colour was tat of Lily Evans.
So making her way down to the village she held her coat firmly closed across her body from the slight chill that loomed in the air. Not the best weather for a birthday but at least it wasn't raining. It didn't take Alice long to arrive at the village and she quickly made her way over to the warmth of the of the pub. Entering the establishment she found there was already a few inside so she shut the door behind her. Taking of her coat she hung it by the door before heading on inside. She stood by the bar as she ordered a drink and her mind began to wander slightly. She hoped that Frank would turn up at the party as it would make it a whole lot better if he was there. He was her best friend and Alice didn't know what she would do without him. But all she could do was wait and hope he would turn up.

Clothing: click meeeeWord Count: 552 OOC: sorry if its a bit terrible The girl she had walked up to might be a Slytherin but obviously she was nice, or interesting enough, to be friends with James. So she saw no reason to hold it against her that she was a Slytherin. They weren’t in the castle anyway, and were all hanging out at the Three Broomsticks. Silly school grudges about houses had no business being at a party for a mutual friend. Though Lena did notice the girl was a bit taller than her. Not unusual as most people her year and up were taller than her, but she didn’t have to like being short, did she? But anyway, there was Lena, trying to be polite and getting along with the other girl. Not many were there yet but it wouldn’t be long before others were there. She had spoken to the other girl and it seemed she wouldn’t be ignored or passed by. That was great. She smiled softly, listening to her talk. “Nice to meet you as well, Dorcas.” At the question of how she knew James and the example, Lena nodded. “Same house and I’m friends with his whole group.”Could she even call Sirius a friend anymore with all the awkwardness between them?
At the mention of drinks, Lena shook her head, giving a genuine smile of amusement. “Thanks about the soft drinks but no thanks on the alcohol. I’ve never had the stuff before so I don’t quite think I should experiment tonight in a public pub. Who knows what I’d end up doing?”Her brown eyes were bright at the amusing thought. Her, drunk? Goodness, now that would be quite the festivity or nightmare for the night. She felt eyes on her and turned to see Sirius staring at her before he turned and walked in a different direction. Lena blushed when she noticed he was looking at her, but sighed when he turned and went the other way as if she hadn’t been there. It was so awkward, it was almost cringe worthy. But she wouldn’t cringe. She was here for James. Not for Sirius. She would have to keep that in the forefront of her mind. Besides, she’d have to keep her wits about her considering it seemed possibly everyone but her might be drinking that night.
Lena moved to the front and got a butterbeer before heading back to Dorcas, in case she wanted to continue talking. She looked over the partiers arriving and recognized a Slytherin prefect, one of her eyebrows arching. The girl better not ruin James’ birthday party or she was going to have a lot of angry students on her hands. She’d have to keep an eye on her. People continued to pour in and she continued to watch, not really knowing what to do or say. With so few people she knew there yet, she felt weird and like she didn’t belong. Lena hoped a friend would walk in soon, or the birthday boy himself, and save her from feeling like a plant in the middle of a sidewalk. Something obviously didn’t belong there.

The polite conversation went on and the girl apparently did not drink. Dorcas wondered how any friends of James and Sirius didn't drink. And she was friends with the whole group? Well that wasn't surprising, they were all in the same house and the same year so it would make sense that they would all know one another and be friends. Well to some extent anyway. Dorcas wasn't exactly friends with the girls in her house and year, she actually had more friends in other houses than she did her own, but that had never really bothered her, and now she also had Wally who was in Ravenclaw.
"In public is always a good time to start drinking, especially with so many friends around. Someone to catch you should you fall, you know? Besides you don't have to get drunk, you could just try a drink and if you like it, just enjoy it." That was Dorcas' logic for non drinkers anyway. Her first drink she'd got wasted with a bunch of students that had been older than her. Three years older in fact, and most of them Hufflepuffs with a couple of Ravenclaws. Dorcas always did tend to get on with people that weren't in her year.
Lena moved away briefly and Dorcas looked out amongst the crowd, there were certainly quite a few people and it was getting quite warm. Setting her drink down on a table Dorcas unzipped her jacket and took it off before throwing it on a chair. She picked her drink up again and took a good mouthful. The burn down her throat was comforting and welcome. Looking about Dorcas hadn't spotted James yet or Wally but could see that Sirius was here yet James' other friends, Remus and Peter, were both missing.
Continuing to scan the crowd Dorcas spotted Alice Logan and gave her a small wave. They were in the same year, had a quite a few lessons together and Dorcas always liked to be polite to her, she was a real smart girl. Dorcas was trying to think of how Alice would know James and then remembered they were in the same house not to mention they had gone to the valentine's day ball with one another. Maybe they were closer than everyone thought? Nah, Dorcas knew James had a thing for that Lily girl for some reason and had seen the way Alice looked at Frank Longbottom. Surely there had to be something there with those two. That wasn't just friendship.
Dorcas looked at Lena when she got back and gave her a small smile. "Don't feel like you have to stay with me or anything if you want to go off and talk with your friends. Though if you want to talk to me that's cool. I'm pretty damn awesome." Dorcas knocked back the last of her double shot and placed the glass on the table. It was time for another drink but she'd talk to Lena for a bit first, she didn't want to be rude to the girl, once was probably enough for one month, providing Lena stayed on her good side of course, Dorcas did have one hell of a temper sometimes. Especially when drunk. Maybe it wasn't a good idea to get drunk with a bunch of kids hanging around. Ah well, life would go on.

There's one in every crowd, brings the party in us out, good time charley with a harley, whiskey bent and hellbound, he's got the next round, but he always drinks for free, there's one in every crowd, and it's usually me (or Siri)
He walked into the Three Broomsticks which as usual for this time on a Saturday was packed. Mostly filled with students from Hogwarts since this was a Hogsmeade weekend. Behind the bar was 'Rosie' as James called her, to everyone else she was Madam Rosmerta. A rather lovely lady in her mid to late twenty's, with curves in all the right places. He walked over to her as she smiled at him saying "Happy Sixteenth James." He grinned back and produced a box of assorted Honeydukes chocolates he had stopped and picked up before coming into the pub.
"Thanks Rosie, and thank you for letting us use the back room." he said as he gave her the chocolates as a thank you.
"No problem, you know I would do anything for you boys." she answered back.
James rose and eyebrow at her and asked questioningly with a mischievous grin. "Anything?"
Rosie laughed knowing exactly what that look was about. "Anything but that and of course not allowing the underage drinking."
James laughed "Why Rosie just what are you insinuating?" he asked innocently smiling.
"You know ... now git on with ya ... your friend are waiting!" She said smiling and dismissing him with a wave.
He laughed blew her a kiss and headed toward the back room.
Walking in to the back room wasn't too different than the rest of the bar. Except it was a little less crowded and it was all decorated up for a traditional birthday party. A complete opposite from the party of a few weeks ago for Remus. He saw Sirius passing out something among the crowd but didn't see any of his other mates. He saw Lena talking to Dorcas, smiling to himself thinking how those two were so different and wondering what their conversation was about. Alice was there and many others including that nosy prefect Nott. Instantly he was suspicious of her being there for what was her reason? The only Slytherin that he got on with was Dorcas the rest had no business at his party.
He moved across the room grabbing a butterbeer as he made his way to Nott. Coming up from behind her he leaned in and said in a low voice "You lost? This is a Gryffindor party and I don't believe you were invited... so why don't you just slither on back to where you belong?" Raising the bottle to his lips he took a drink as he waited for her to leave.

Holly went to the bar and got herself a drink, just a butterbeer, nothing illegal, she was still underage. She looked about, staying away from most people and just standing toward the back of the room not wanting to cause trouble yet, she was just observing, an innocent bystander as it were and fancied taking a seat, it was most un-ladylike to stand and drink, especially from the type of glass you were given in this place for a butterbeer. If there was a classier place around, Holly would certainly find herself in there however the only other options were the Hogs Head and Madam Puddifoots.
Hearing a voice behind her startled Holly. She jumped a little and turned to see James Potter. He was an arrogant sod if ever there was one and she was certain there was something going on between him and Sirius Black. Something sexual. But she was a lady and such thoughts were not appropriate, even if one couldn't help but wonder how many other people thought the same as she. She knew Slytherins did. All his chasing after Evans? No one pursued someone that hard unless there was something that should be hidden.
"Oh, Potter. You did give me a fright." Holly smiled superficially at him before continuing to speak. "A Gryffindor party with all sorts of houses mangled in, I was just showing up to help represent the Slytherins a little better." Holly smiled at James. "And it just seems such a lovely party but I don't really have much of a choice you see, after the last Gryffindor party that you all held, I've been asked by a certain Professor as a Prefect to come down and keep an eye on things for a bit." Holly took a small sip of her butterbeer and set it down on a table near by, taking a few steps over toward it. Clearly she wasn't wanted at this party if it was a Gryffindor one so she would not stay too long, she wasn't fond of trouble and rather preferred to stay out of its way. She may have been a good student in the classroom but she had never really exercised the spells she knew outside of the classroom as really there had never been much of a need for it, James Potter on the other hand she knew had exercised outside of the classroom, usually on Slytherins and he wasn't one to discriminate male from female from what she had heard. He could have her on the floor before she even realised what was going on, but that didn't deter her from staying for a little bit, just to make sure she was known.

Mackenzie pulled her coat on and checked herself in her mirror again. She smiled with satisfaction, perfect as per usual. Her hair was cropped to just above her shoulders and curled nicely and pinned back on the right side with a red rose clip. She was wearing a black and white polka dot dress with a sweetheart neckline and a red belt around her waist that accented her petite figure. Her shoes were a pair of red platform dress sandals with a rose on the front and she wore some red and silver jewelery that her grandmother had sent her for her last birthday. Turning on her heel, she sauntered out of her dorm, grabbing the present she had bought for James on her way out, although she didn't know James overly well, but from what she could tell, he was definitely a prankster so she had gotten him a variety box of Zonko's products. It was drizzling as she left the castle, so rather than ruin her hair (something you could not pay her to do) Mackenzie summoned her umbrella and used it as she walked to the the three broomsticks. She closed it as she stepped inside and left it propped against the wall just inside the door. At first glance she only saw a few people she recognized, but after a moment, she saw the party towards the back, she took off her coat and gave Rosemerta a smile as she hung it up. Heading towards the back of the room she saw Dorcas Meadowes talking to Lena Beckett, Sirius Black handing out what she could only assume was probably firewhiskey, which made her wrinkle her nose, not that she hated the stuff, she just preferred a nice red wine or chardonnay, and the birthday boy himself, talking to a girl she vaguely recognized as Holly Nott, a Slytherin in the year above her. Smoothing down her dress with the hand she wasn't holding the present in, Mackenzie approached the two, giving James a flirtatious smile. "Happy Birthday James." She said softly then gave Holly elevator eyes, her eyebrow raised slightly. "It's Holly, isn't it?" She said coolly in her thick American accent. Thankfully, Sirius soon spotted James. He had grown bored with handing out the flasks, mainly because he was soon being surrounded by students who were much too young to be drinking it. Sirius might be a fun person, but he wasn't about to get twelve-year-olds drunk. He closed up the bag and dismissed those around him before heading over to where James was with a couple of girls. He recognized the one girl as a Slytherin, and the other as some girl in his year, although he was having a hard time putting a face to the name. He found the redhead's eyes pretty, but decided to put the focus of his attention on James.
"Ugh, James, what's that smell? Didn't you bother showering before turning up?" Sirius asked in mock disgust as he crinkled his nose. He then acted as if he had just spotted the Slytherin girl for the first time. "Ah, sorry mate, didn't notice your, er, lovely choice of company."
Sirius didn't want to be overly rude just in case the girl was a friend of James'. He was aware that Dorcas Meadowes was a party friend of his, so he didn't want to go overboard just in case he got along with this one as well. He kept the bag with the flasks in it firmly closed, because even if she was a friend of James', she was still a Slytherin after all, and therefore couldn't be trusted. He instead grabbed a mug of Butterbeer off a person walking by and began to drink it innocently enough. He knew there were only a handful of flasks left, and was therefore grateful for the amount of booze he had hidden away in their usual hang-out cave in the mountains for later. Also there was a generous amount of fancy fireworks and more treats than any of them could eat. Really, Sirius was looking forward to going there more than staying at the party, especially due to the fact that Lena was at the party. She was awfully distracting, so he changed his position so that his back was to her. He knew that way he couldn't look at her if he wanted to. He almost felt like he was on edge as if she was going to come over and moment to speak with James. If Remus ever showed up, Sirius couldn't even go to him because he knew that Remus and Lena got on very well. The only Marauder that he wasn't sure if she was friends with was Peter. How did he ever let their friendship grow into something so complicated? She was so connected to all of his mates and had never truly realized it until that moment.
Sirius then turned to the redhead next to him and held out his hand politely and introduced himself. "Sirius Black. Nice to formally make your acquaintance."

Clothing: click meeeeWord Count: 547 ”In public is always a good time to start drinking, especially with so many friends around. Someone to catch you should you fall, you know? Besides you don't have to get drunk, you could just try a drink and if you like it, just enjoy it." Lena looked up at Dorcas in curiosity. Could she really do that? Should she? She sighed and shrugged. “I’m just... I can’t drink. I don’t want to lose control of my own body and such.” Lena looked at the older girl, hoping she understood. Besides, she never ever wanted to drink alcohol. It was a drunk driver who killed her parents. She unconsciously reached to her neck for her locket but remembered she had taken it off for the night. The first time in years, she had taken it off. Lena knew it would clash with her outfit and she had wanted to look her best today. As soon as she got back to the castle, the locket would be back on her neck. She bit the inside of her lip to try and get her thoughts off of her parents and their deaths. She forced a smile out as she spoke. “Besides, don’t you think there will be plenty of drunks around that someone else being tipsy would be a bad idea?” She shrugged, trying to cover her thoughts up before looking around.
She had walked back to Dorcas because she was the only person there she could talk to. Remus wasn’t there and she just felt too awkward even just looking at Sirius. "Don't feel like you have to stay with me or anything if you want to go off and talk with your friends. Though if you want to talk to me that's cool. I'm pretty damn awesome." Lena shook her head, smiling wider. “I don’t feel like I have to talk to you. You’re the only person here I can really talk to right now. I don’t... I don’t really have many friends.” She shrugged again, knowing it was a sad truth. She heard a bit of commotion and turned around to see James walk in. Lena smiled widely and took a step to go say hello but she saw Sirius get there first. She halted and bit her lip, wondering if she should still go tell James happy birthday or not. Finally she took a deep breath and said to Dorcas softly, “be right back” before walking toward James. She ended up standing somewhat next to Sirius, but she didn’t look at him. She didn't know how he wanted to treat her or how she should react around him. So she would let him speak first to her. Already being next to him made her lungs feel tight from the awkwardness. Lena tried to give James a bright smile. “Happy birthday, James.” She sent a look to the Slytherin prefect, mentally warning the girl not to ruin the party. She sent a polite smile to the redhead, sort of recognizing her as being in their year, but not really knowing who she was. "Hi"
