Dorcas could have snorted at Lena but restrained herself quite successfully. The girl had no friends, it was funny but even though Dorcas knew she shouldn't laugh, when the girl left, Dorcas snorted and turned around real fast, giggling almost silently to herself. God girls like that were pathetic. Dangling off popular people, hoping to make more friends or get the hot guy. It surprised Dorcas that James would be friends with someone like that, it surprised her even more that Lena was pretty. The girl was sort of the equivalent of Peter 'lonely as fuck' Pettigrew. Maybe the two should start dating. They'd clearly be the most pathetic couple in the school.
Wherever the girl was going, Dorcas didn't notice, instead she walked to the bar, shaking her head still amazed at how sad some people were. She forgot sometimes but every now and then she was reminded by the pathetic pinings of a fan girl. Funny how desperate people were sometimes and she knew she really shouldn't be laughing at this Lena girl, she was just trying to make a few new friends, or maybe she wasn't, maybe she was wanting to catch herself a marauder. Merlin she could have snorted again but didn't as it was time to place her order.
Madam Rosmerta went off and came back with Dorcas' order and Dorcas thanked her, there was no need to forget her manners after all. Dorcas was a fairly good patron of the Three Broomsticks, though Rosmerta had told on her a couple of times to the headmaster. Dorcas was sure Slughorn had dragged her back to the Slytherin common room once. If he had done, Dorcas was very much glad she couldn't remember it, though it could have been a fun memory. Too many people had come to her rescue on a night out, occasionally even an afternoon, but she was lucky when it came to that sort of thing, there was always someone looking out for her or willing to drag her up to the castle again.
One, two, three, four. Dorcas knocked back four shots of scotch and then picked up the glass with the ice and double scotch poured over the top and turned her back on the bar, it wouldn't be long now before she got a little tipsy so she knew she had to slow down a little. Just a little. Not too much. But she couldn't go being drunker than the party boy. That was just wrong! Speaking of which, Dorcas noticed that that was where Lena had gone off to. She'd clearly run over like the pathetic little pup she was to hang off of James and Sirius' every words and ... oh, of course. Trouble was brewing. How could it not with James?
Dorcas sauntered over behind James and pinched him on the arse before giving it a smack. She rested her head on his shoulder and grinned. "Happy birthday." She gave him a kiss on the cheek and eyed up Holly, her head still resting on James' shoulder. "Odd." She hadn't expected to see another Slytherin at the party and knew James wasn't actually friends with any other Slytherin, so she was curious as to what Holly was doing there.
Dorcas shook her head and looked at James. "You do have some very strange friends, Potter. Ever thought of trading some of them in for new ones? I'll let you keep Black. He has a nice arse, but the rest I'm sure you'd be better off without." Dorcas handed him the drink she'd had in her hand and kissed him on the cheek again. She didn't really want to get too involved if trouble was brewing among the youngsters so she was just going to get another drink, but she'd keep an eye on them. She wasn't about to let someone from her own house get the crap beaten out of them. House unity and all.
Dorcas spun away from the group, heading back to the bar. It was the James' birthday. He had to have a drink or twenty and with her around, she was definitely going to get him paralysed. She just hoped there was not quidditch training for him the next couple days or he was really going to suffer through them with headaches, light and noise sensitivity and general icky feeling of sickliness. If only she'd thought of getting him drunk before the Gryffindor/Slytherin game, oh well, this was her last year, no need to ever worry about it again she supposed as she ordered again and watched the young group.

Peter hurried out of yet another detention. He didn't know how he managed to get so many. Well, if he didn't have a detention, the chances were he would just plain forget about things and then he'd end up in worse trouble. So quickly as he could, Peter hurried out of the castle, getting his name checked off the Hogsmeade list and then ran all the way down to Hogsmeade but he couldn't go in like this! He was panting and probably really blotchy in the face, so instead, he took a seat on a bench outside of the pub to catch his breath. He didn't want to embarrass himself. What if Finola was in there?
Taking his time, Peter swept his hand through his hair, a habit he;d picked up from James, only as soon as Peter had messed his hair up a little, he quickly flattened it back down. He wasn't as cool as James so he couldn't pull off the look. Besides, Peter couldn't fly even if he wanted to, he tended to fall off his broom about a meter off the ground. He was scared of heights too so that didn't really help much. Then again Peter was scared of quite a lot of things really.
Standing up, Peter decided it was time to head in, so as casually as he could, he walked into the busy pub and through the crowd of people that were gathered near the bar. It was a Hogsmeade weekend so naturally the pub was busy, and because it was James' party, it made it even busier. Peter was sort of glad there were so many people though, maybe he would go unfound by any bullies and people in general. He could just sit at the back and just watch everyone, like he usually did.
Spotting Jame sand Sirius, Peter held back a little. James' Slytherin friend was there and she sort of scared Peter. Actually he was terrified of her. She was a Slytherin and two years older than him, not a combination that he really go on with. When she walked away however, Peter walked over and noticed another Slytherin. One the year above them. He gulped and look up at James and smiled nervously. "Happy birthday James.". Peter looked around the gathered group and noticed Lena and Mackenzie. Suddenly his cheeks flushed. "I'm going to go sit down." He mumbled, leaving the group and heading over to a table at the back. He sat down and looked amongst the room. There were a few people there, it was James' birthday party after all, but he was willing to bet this many people wouldn't come to his birthday party. Then again, his birthday was on Christmas day, so no one would really be coming. They'd be spending it with their families, just as he would be spending it with his.

There's one in every crowd, brings the party in us out, good time charley with a harley, whiskey bent and hellbound, he's got the next round, but he always drinks for free, there's one in every crowd, and it's usually me (or Siri)
He rolled his eyes as she stated he frightened her, something he doubted as he listened to her babble on. Thinking all the while, why did Slytherin's always insist upon being where they are not wanted? Is it some trait that all Slytherin have? He had some Slytherin earlier in the year try to tell him how to woo Lily. Then there is Snivellus always butting in with his abnormally large nose into his and the Marauders affairs. And now ... this.
When she finished, he adjusted his glasses, tossing her a fake forced smile. "You know Nott, you should have thought of a better story than that ... so lame". he said shaking his head. "First off Slytherin is as represented as it is going to get, by Dorcas, not you. Second off this party was approved by our head of house, we already have a head girl here and a prefect on his way to, how did you put it?" he paused slightly. "Oh yeah ... to keep an 'eye' on things. Thirdly there is Madam Rosmerta who is making sure everything is fine."
And speaking of 'fine'. Mackenzie approached him flashing him a smile and wishing him a Happy Birthday. Flashing her a smile back as she spoke to Nott,
It's Holly, isn't it?
"Looks like a present to me" he said leaning over to Mackenzie and giving her a kiss on the cheek, purposefully ignoring Nott. "Thank you Mac." he said. It was probably bold and not appropriate since he didn't know her well but he did share a class with her, though at this point he couldn't remember which one. Besides he was feeling really good, why not make a girls day by giving them a little kiss, a thank you in appreciation of her coming and bringing him a gift. What was the harm in that?
Then Sirius showed up beside him making a comment about something being smelly. James laughed, "Nah, Pads, not my choice nor my company. In fact I think Nott was just leaving." He looked pointedly at her. "Said something about having to play with Adrian or something along those lines." His eyes dancing with laughter he rose a hand and waved as he said "Toodles". Dismissing her, or at least he hoped she would get the hint and move on.
Lena walked up throwing him a smile and wishing him a Happy Birthday, but something was off. He could tell by her body language or just a gut feeling that something was bothering her. He stepped over to her and gave her a hug. "Thank you Lena." Then lowering his voice so only she could hear he whispered to her "You alright?" before releasing her from the hug. His eyes held hers a split second then he felt a pinch. He flinched and started to turn when a slap fell on his arse.
Dorcas! He looked as her laughing as she gave him her Birthday wish and kiss, he wrapped his arm about her and gave her a hug as she settled her head on his shoulder. You do have some very strange friends, Potter. Ever thought of trading some of them in for new ones? I'll let you keep Black. He has a nice arse, but the rest I'm sure you'd be better off without. He frowned a bit puzzled as to what she meant but before he could say anything she pushed a drink in his hand and kissed him again. He watched her walk off the called after her .. "Thanks ... and Dorcas... behave!" The last a 'code' word between them meaning for her not to get drunk. Besides it was his birthday, she should be watching out for him not the other way around.
Now he had both hands full of a drink. Just then Peter walked up and gave him his birthday greeting. "Hey Pete, thanks...here." He handed Peter the butterbeer before Peter left the group. James' gazed followed Peter across the room for a bit, he wondered why Peter left. Lifting the glass Dorcas gave him he took a long drink of the scotch. When he looked back at the group his eyes fell upon Nott... "You still here?" he asked.

Holly really wasn't interested in anything James had to say, she was more interested in who had shown up, as suspected it was filled with muggle borns and blood traitors and it wasn't the sort of thing she would usually be seen dead at but her curiosity had spiked this was the consequence she supposed. Next time she'd keep her distance and keep an eye on who turned up. Besides, if it was a party she didn't know about then clearly it wasn't a worth while one and this one was far from worth while, as were the people in attendance.
"Head girl can't keep an eye on everyone Potter, Rosmerta's got a full and busy bar to run and as for your other little prefect friend he's not here yet and besides we all know he doesn't have the guts to stand up to you so someone needs to keep an eye out regardless of whether you have your head of houses' approval or not. Don't worry, I'm sure another Prefect will turn up before too long and I'll be relieved of my scholarly duties."
There was a noise and Holly looked to see another red head next to her, a very vibrant yet completely filthy red head. She looked pretty and her outfit was very cute but nothing could scrub away all that mud in her blood and not to mention she was American too, mudblood American. Gryffindors were far too tolerant, it was disgusting. Holly wanted to turn up her nose and scowl but didn't, instead she smiled at the girl politely and nodded her head.
"Yeah, Holly Nott." She said to the girl 'Mac' or whatever her ridiculous name was but talking to the girl was better than paying any attention to Sirius Black. Honestly her was so ridiculously stupid Holly was surprised he could get dressed in the morning without strangling himself or even bathe without drowning. The boy was a moron and it was widely known through out the school.
Soon another friend of Potter's came over, the half-blood Beckett. She wasn't too bad from what she understood, a bit of a loner but who needed friends like mudbloods and blood traitors really? Lena would have done better in Ravenclaw away from the Gryffindor's encouragement of filth for company. Then Meadowes came over, Holly wasn't really much of a fan of Dorcas, she held some questionable company as she was witnessing at the moment, but no one really messed with her probably through fear of a punch to the face. Beaters tended to be strong and have tempers, especially the Slytherin ones and Holly knew Adrian wouldn't have allowed Dorcas on the team if she wasn't good enough, then again Holly was sure Adrian had a thing for the brunette, he did talk about her from time to time over the holidays.
After Dorcas left Peter Pettigrew joined them and quickly left looking embarrassed or something, Holly really didn't have time to care what the little pipsqueak was up to nor where he was going, instead she figured she might as well leave the dull party and see if anything else was going on in Hogsmeade, but then Potter looked at her and shot his mouth of. She just smiled and shrugged her shoulders at him.
"What perplexes me is why you're focusing on me still, or even in the first place when really I would have stayed quite silently over here on my own." Holly looked about the rest of the room, there was no one else she knew or wanted to socialise with. "I'll be gone before you know it so why not just bugger off and leave me alone? It's not illegal for me to be here you know." She said waiting for him to leave, but if he didn't then maybe she should just walk away, or at least to the bar for a drink and get away from Potter and his little followers.

Sirius chuckled at James' words. The concept of two teenagers playing at such an age was hysterical, although Sirius wasn't about to put it past Slytherins. They were usually a bit slow on the uptake when it came to anything in life, so why not how to behave in a family? He could imagine Mr and Mrs Nott still giving them the same tried stories about blood purity and complete and utter rubbish that most Slytherin dunces seemed to believe, and Adrian and Holly sitting around with wide, believing eyes. The thought made him want to gag on his Butterbeer that he was drinking innocently. Ever since he got a taste of Firewhiskey, Butterbeer just really do it for him anymore. Yes, there was some alcohol in it, but it would take an extreme amount for anyone to even get buzzed off it. Sirius supposed he did once when he was eleven, but he could hardly remember that anymore.
Sirius listened to Nott talk to James and he rolled his grey eyes in disbelief. "What difference does it really make to you if people end up intoxicated? The worst that would happen is that someone gets alcohol poisoning and dies, but I thought that's what a Slytherin like you would want? I mean, providing it happened to someone with unpure blood - we know what wastes of skin they are, right?"
He was being utterly sarcastic and just took another drink of his beverage. Even though it seemed like a common mindset of Slytherins, Sirius always believed the narrow-minded belief that only purebloods were worthy completely old-fashioned and immature. He always thought anyone who thought that way should be forced to live as a Muggle, or perhaps just run over by a stampede of elephants. None of his friends were muggle-born, but it didn't stop Sirius from not believing in it anyways.
Sirius then noticed that Nott was looking at him like he was extremely slow. He had to stop from laughing out loud. He knew it was a common misconception in Slytherin house (a rumour no doubt helped along by his dear cousins) that he was absolutely stupid. It may not look like he tried in class, and he may not spend any time in the library, but what they didn't know was that it was because he didn't have to try. He was just a naturally clever guy. He and James probably got some of the top grades in their entire year. Sirius couldn't help but grin as he said, "Me Sirius. Me like beer. Me go fetch."
He then turned away from her and walked away in a bored fashion. When he turned, however, he saw James giving Lena a hug. When did she walk over? He had been too distracted by everyone else. It immediately felt like a wall of tension was built up between the two of them. Before he had even noticed Peter turn up, Peter began to walk away and Sirius took the opportunity to follow him in a way to get away from Lena. He glanced at the time before sitting next to Peter. When was it going to close so that the Marauders could go off on their own? Every time he heard Lena's voice or accidentally glanced at her, he just became surly. When he sat, he pulled out one of the remaining flasks and passed it to Peter.
"What a party this is turning out to be," he commented as he looked back over his shoulder at the strangest group of people. Sirius then turned his attention back to Peter as he pulled out his own flask and took a generous gulp. It burned as it went down, but felt good at the same time. "Looking forward to leaving after? What do you say, caves like usual?"
Sirius was of course referring to the spot in the mountains the boys usually went to during Remus' transformations, but also for when they just felt like sneaking out of Hogwarts. It was always a good spot, and besides, Sirius had already stashed James' birthday present there.

As Alice stood now leaning against the wall as she watched the party go on around her. There wasn't too much she could do at the moment as the only other seventh year present was that of Dorcas Meadowes who was already in a conversation. So she didn't want to interrupt her are anything so she just left her to chat while she waited for somebody she knew to arrive. Somebody like Frank that is if he was coming. She had asked him to come along though she didn't know if he was going to turn up or not. Though she hoped he did as they where the best of friends and there was never a dull moment when for Alice when Frank was around. But if he did show up she supposed she could always catch up with him later one in the common room or even on patrol as they both had to do it with her being Head Girl and him being a prefect.
Though it was long till the arrival of the birthday boy himself. Alice had his present waiting for him in her hand though she though she'd let other go first and give him there presents for him. Alice may seem that she did have his present on her and that was correct as she hadn't wanted to risk dropping it on the way down so know that he was her she might as well summon it. So pulling her wand out of the silk waistband of her dress she she summoned the very object and in a matter of seconds the red and gold wrapped present was in her hands so she slipped her wand back away as she hopefully wouldn't have to use it for anything else. Or at least she hoped she would need to as that would but a real damper and the mood of the party if she had to use her authority as head girl to brake up a fight.
So taking a sip of the drink in her hand she smiled. She knew it wasn't right for her to be drinking alcohol while most other present could but it wasn't often she did and it was only a mild concoction anyway so she should be alright if she just had one or two. Surely nobody would stop her as she was old enough at eighteen so she didn't see why she couldn't. Then when the crowd that had surrounded James had diminished a bit she decided to make herself know and walked slowly over where James was stood. "Hey James Happy Birthday." She said a smile on her face as she handed him the perfectly wrapped present. Inside the box was an assortment of sweets and get of the hook card she had made for if he got caught out in the halls. She hadn't really known what to get him so she just hoped that her liked it.

Clothing: click meeeeWord Count: 674 OOC: forgive me for this sucking so bad Lena didn’t much notice the looks Dorcas gave her or even that she was being laughed at as she made her way to James. She wanted to tell her friend happy birthday and she didn’t mind bucking up and trying to act like nothing was wrong while standing next to Sirius. She might have just wanted to smack him for what he’d said and done, or kiss him because she does like him and she’s pretty sure he likes her back, but Lena would do neither. She had taken a deep breath before finally standing beside him, facing James, and put all of her attention on her friend so she wouldn’t look at Sirius. She’d told him happy birthday and as soon as she saw his look toward her, she knew he knew something was wrong. She slid her arms around him to hug him back, trying to keep a little sigh of happiness from escaping because she really had needed a hug. And Remus didn’t do very well with showing affection to others by hugging and such. Not unless someone hugged him first or it was one of the guys. Lena smiled softly as he thanked her. “You’re very welcome, birthday boy.” It didn’t come as a shock to her when he asked ”You alright?” in her ear before releasing her and catching her eyes. Lena tried to give him a smile and started to say “I’m fi…” when she was interrupted by Dorcas coming over and distracting him.
She raised an eyebrow and almost wanted to laugh as James was suddenly surrounded by girls on almost every side. Very beautiful girls at that. She wondered if outsiders looking on saw them as his harem of women he had under his arm. Her chocolate eyes watched in amusement as he spoke. He was the life of the party and she fully expected to see him have skunked out of his mind soon if people keep handing him drinks. She took a sip of her own as she saw Peter walk over. Her and the final marauder had somehow, never actually talked to each other beyond maybe a “hello” or an “excuse me”. It had just seemed he’d shy away whenever she tried to talk to him at meals to be polite. So when he looked over at her while talking to James she smiled and said “Hello, Peter.” He was gone seconds later but she had still been trying to be nice. Lena didn’t notice the other people pouring into the pub but she did notice when Sirius suddenly turned and walked away. If she didn’t feel so awkward around him now, she’d have laughed. The caveman thing was amusing because he really was not like that, even though some mistakenly thought so. Before she could stop herself, her eyes followed his movements until he finally sat beside Peter. Lena sighed silently before turning back to James.
That’s when she noticed Alice appear and she blinked at the older girl, surprised she hadn’t seen her come in. She smiled at the head girl, always respecting her and thinking she was really good at her job. “Hello Alice. That’s a really pretty dress.” Lena looked at James, wondering if he was still worried about her not being ok and hoped he wasn’t. Today was his day to have fun and do whatever he liked. He shouldn’t waste time spending it on worrying about if she was alright. She watched the present being handed over and watched, curious on what was inside. Lena listened to Holly Nott talking to James and she wanted to snap something back at the girl but she wasn’t about to create more of a target of James not being able to stand up for himself and needed a girl to do it for him. She’d already gone through that stupid spell with a friend a year ago. He was gone from the school now, but she still remembered it. So she watched and listened, waiting to see what would happen.

Mackenzie smiled as Sirius came over and made his little joke about Nott, yes it was childish, but she couldn't help but enjoy seeing a Slytherin get put in their place, even if the joke was silly. "Mackenzie Butler. A pleasure, I'm sure." She said with a smile, shaking Sirius' hand. She couldn't help but laugh as James hugged her and gave her a kiss on the cheek. "James Potter, you charmer." She said, rolling her eyes playfully at him. She held out the gift with a grin. "Just promise not to use any of them on me Okay? Or I'll get you Potter, and your little dog too." She said the last part in a playful impression of the witch from Wizard of Oz.She gave Lena a polite smile when she came over, not knowing the girl very well. When Dorcas approached, she tensed up a little, not exactly being too fond of Slytherins, but she relaxed when she saw how she was with James, they were obviously friends, which meant she couldn't be too bad, James probably wouldn't be friends with someone who was obsessed with blood status. When Peter walked over she nodded at him politely, glancing towards the bar and wishing she had a nice glass of one of her mothers expensive wines, she was having a terrible craving. She stifled a laugh as Peter shuffled away blushing, the boy really was quite amusing, he always seemed to become very awkward whenever he was around too many people, especially girls, or at least that was what she had noticed whenever she had seen him. She rolled her eyes as Nott gave James a list of reasons that she should be at the party, did the girl not care that she wasn't welcome? There's one in every crowd, brings the party in us out, good time charley with a harley, whiskey bent and hellbound, he's got the next round, but he always drinks for free, there's one in every crowd, and it's usually me (or Siri)
He laughed at Mac calling him a charmer and took the present Mac handed him, shaking it slightly to hear what maybe inside. Raising an eyebrow as she asked him to promise not to use them on her. Grinning mischievously he had a hunch as to what now was in the wrapped box. "Ok .. you get a break this time...but when these are gone, which shouldn't take too long you'll be back as fair game."
His patience was starting to wear thin when it came to Nott. So he was glad when Sirius spoke up. backing him up and hopefully get Nott to leave. But as usual Slytherins were thick.
What perplexes me is why you're focusing on me still, or even in the first place when really I would have stayed quite silently over here on my own ... I'll be gone before you know it so why not just bugger off and leave me alone? It's not illegal for me to be here you know.
His eyes swung in her direction filled with a cold warning. She was just about to push him a little too hard. This was a party for him, and if he didn't want her there then she dam will leave of her own accord or else.... "Perplexed are you? Well NOTT let me make this as clear as possible, for apparently you Slytherin are incapable of understanding 'simple' English .... leave .... as in vacate this area ... you are not wanted here nor was you invited. In your own words ... bugger off! Be gone ... vanish." He took another drink his mind going over the possibilities of what he could do to Nott.
Sometime during his exchange with Nott, Sirius left the group and Alice arrived. He flashed his former Valentine date a smile as she wished him a Happy Birthday. He sat Mac's gift on the table near him and then accepted the gift from Alice. "Thanks Alice," he said giving her a lite kiss on the cheek. "If you all don't mind, I'll open them all back at the castle"

Holly simply just smiled at the Mackenzie girl. God what a ridiculous name she had so ... American. Regardless, Holly was feeling dirtier and dirtier the longer she stayed, mudbloods and blood traitors everywhere, it was quite disgusting really and the fact that Meadowes was socialising with them all just put her in a very bad light, a bad light that Holly would be sure to share with Adrian when she got the chance. It was probably about time for her to leave. She didn't want to have people talking about her being at James Potters birthday party. She'd never live it down.
Rolling her eyes at Potter Holly simply shrugged. "God you're a dumb ass. I will be gone soon, just ignore me, what don't you understand about that?" Holly walked off towards the bar, she was going to get a drink and sit down at the other end of the pub, these people around her were just disgusting and she couldn't stand being there any longer. James Potter was an idiot, Sirius Black was immature, Dorcas Meadowes was a blood and house traitor and the others were just what she would have expected really. Mackenzie whatever her name wasn't even the worst one there and she was American and muggle born, Holly wasn't going to waste much more time around these people.
Leaning her umbrella against the bar and placing her purse on the top of the bar, Holly slipped out of her jacket and hung it over her arm, she flattened her dress and ran her fingers through her wavy hair, she placed an order with one of Rosmerta's barmen for a butterbeer and stood patiently, waiting and wondering what to do with the rest of her day. She didn't want to study and so contemplated drawing Hogsmeade Station, or getting up somewhere high to draw the rooftops of HOgsmeade and Hogwarts.

Peter took the butterbeer James had given him and had sat himself down. He was soon joined by Sirius who seemed to want nothing more than to leave the party. To Peter that seemed very strange. At Remus' party Sirius had loved it, but then again there were girls there that were next to naked, here they all had clothes on but still, they all looked very pretty, or so he thought, he could have been wrong though, he hadn't consulted with Sirius as to whether the girls were hot or not, he was the one that seemed to know all that sort of stuff, and James, but certainly not Remus, wherever he was.
"It seems okay to me." He shrugged, looking up and seeing James surrounded by even more girls. How did he do it? Peter wanted to know but he'd never ask, nor would he ever have the guts to approach a girl and act as confident as james or Sirius, they just had a natural gift and charm that girls seemed to like, what did he have? He had pathetic-ness, that was why Finola pretended to like him wasn't it? Because he was pathetic and weak and had cool friends, somehow.
"Yeah, the cave sounds good." He smiled and took a mouthful of butterbeer, the warmth and fullness of the drink spreading through him nice and fast. "All the girls look pretty, don't they?" It wasn't really a rhetorical question, he was wanting to make sure he got it right, that the girls looked nice, Peter was always in need of some sort of verification to his opinions. It would be hard for him to be wrong as it was all about his own preferences, but he didn't want to like a girl that was ugly to everybody else because then he would look like an idiot, wouldn't he?
Peter wondered if they would ever actually make it to the cave to get drunk. Usually Sirius ended up going off with some girl, at Remus' party it had been Christina Kafka, Finola's older sister and many a party before that Sirius had always managed to find a willing girl to sneak away with, so why would this time be any different? Unless there was a girl here that Sirius didn't like, but that would be stupid, Sirius liked nearly all the girls as long as they weren't younger or in Slytherin so apart from Nott and Meadowes, Sirius should have been the centre of attention, stealing the limelight from James, right?

Sirius didn't want to admit that the party wasn't absolutely terrible. As he kept his gaze off of James and crew, he looked around to the other partiers, most of which had the flasks he had handed to them. It seemed more like a get-together than a party persay, and he knew that if it wasn't for Lena being there he would be having a great time himself and not sitting in a corner with Peter. Not that he didn't like Peter or anything, it was just he usually preferred to be actually doing something at parties.
"Yeah, I guess it's alright," Sirius said with a bit of a shrug. "Nothing compared to Remus' party though, eh?"
He grinned in hopes that perhaps something interesting had happened to Peter at the party. Sirius himself hadn't stayed overly long and had disappeared with Christina. The last he had seen of Remus was him slipping upstairs with Annelise, and James seemed to have had a good time as well. Overall, it was fairly successful, other than of course the fallout that happened afterwards between Sirius and Lena.
Sirius was glad that Peter was up for the caves afterwards. However, Sirius still hadn't seen hide nor hair of Remus through the whole thing, and was beginning to wonder if he had forgotten. He certainly hoped that Remus wasn't off frolicking around with Annelise than showing up to James' birthday party. He was all for Remus having a lady friend and all, but at the same time, you couldn't just abandon your friends either. You had to find a balance, and he wasn't altogether sure that Remus knew how to considering for the past few years, the Marauders seem to be all that he had. Now every time he spotted Remus he was hanging out with some girl or another. It was admittedly a bit strange.
Sirius chuckled appreciatively as Peter asked whether the girls looked pretty. "Yeah, mate, they really are," Sirius answered happily. Once again, he looked around but kept his gaze off of Lena. Doing so actually did his mood wonders. It was almost as if the phrase 'out of sight, out of mind' was true. "Spot anyone you fancy? I swear, though, if you say Holly Nott I'm voting you out of the Marauders."

Remus felt terrible about being late, but thing was that he had ordered something in for James (especially!) and he really wanted to have his gift with him when he went to the party. He sort of felt bad about showing up empty handed, because he did buy his friends gifts even if he didn't have that much money. It was basically what he saved for the entire year. So why was he late? The package hadn't arrived and he knew it would be coming that day, so he'd resolved to wait half an hour until it had arrived, and when it didn't arrive until forty-five minutes later, he'd felt even more terrible about being late and even forgot the wrapping spell he'd looked up, which meant he had to wrap the gift himself. Remus wasn't particularly good at wrapping gifts, so that was rather rubbish, but it was about what was inside the wrapping. What was inside? Well.. it were the miniatures of the players of James' favourite Quidditch team, which actually flew and could demonstrate different manoeuvers when told to do so. Remus was certain James would love it.
So, about twenty minutes later, he arrived at James' party in Hogsmeade and the first thing he did was make his way over to James - he was the most important person in the room, after all, and he'd find his other friends later. "Sorry I'm late," he muttered, chewing his lip. "I was waiting for your gift to arrive, can't believe it took so long to get here, I would've ordered it earlier-" He stopped himself from rambling any further and just handed his friend the gift. "I hope you like it." Now that he had said hello to the birthday boy, he looked around to notice Sirius sitting in a corner next to Peter and raised his hand at them in silent greeting before turning back to James. No way he was going to miss his friend's expression when he unwrapped his gift.

Adrian's day had started out as a rather dull one. They had had Quidditch practice earlier, which had gone alright, but he could have been happier about it. It was as if he couldn't quite get his team to care enough. They were all just too full of themselves and arrogant to realize that there was a lot that needed improvement. The next match was only a couple of weeks away, so by now he should be happy with their performance. But he had warned them that if they didn't start taking it more seriously, practices would be a lot more frequent and longer.
So by the time everyone was getting excited about going to Hogsmeade, Adrian was tired and in a bad mood. It didn't help that he had just gotten his last Herbology essay back and received a D on it. Sure, he hadn't spent more than thirty minutes on it all together, but a D? That meant that a Howler from his father should be on its way right about now. All of this added together meant that Adrian was not in the mood for a trip to Hogsmeade. At all. He just wanted to go for a run and then go to bed early.
That was when Alecto came along. She needed someone to go with her to the village, and even though he was refusing at first she somehow managed to convince him it would be fun. Probably because she mentioned something about getting really drunk and, well... because he found her to be extremely attractive. It wasn't all that difficult to change Adrian's mind if you were a good looking woman.
So before he knew it, Adrian was on his way to Hogsmeade village with Alecto Carrow. It had been a long time since the two of them a had done anything together, and he was pretty sure that the last time had involved a bed, though he had been drunk out of his mind at the time, so he could be wrong. But then again, most of his memories that involved girls were something like that one.
Of course, they headed straight to the Hog's Head, which was the only place Adrian actually liked in Hogsmeade. By the time they got there he was still in a bad mood. Alecto was probably getting sick of his gloominess by now, but Adrian didn't really care. He knew that, not long from now, they'd both be singing and laughing and everything else that came with the great side effects of alcohol. So as soon as they sat down at the bar, he ordered a drink and three shots, which disappeared pretty quickly.
Adrian had been right; since he was tired and hadn't eaten much that day, it didn't take long before he was smiling and speaking a lot louder than he normally did. A few shots later, he was singing the Hogwarts song while the other customers were sending him annoyed looks that he didn't even notice. That's when he had the brilliant idea that it would be even more fun if they went to the Three Broomsticks.
He lost Alecto pretty quickly because he tripped over his own feet, lost his balance and fell into the door of a store, which opened so that he ended up on the floor of the store. After being kicked out by the owner, he continued on his way to the Three Broomsticks. Everything was pretty blurry for him, so it took him a while to get there, and when he finally did he realized that he had no idea of where Alecto was. He shrugged once, and entered through the door (this time without falling).
Balloons, banners and other fun decorations were everywhere in the room. He had walked straight into a party. One he hadn't even heard about. At least, not that he could remember. Looking around, he realized that must of them were Gryffindors. "Gryffindorks!" He yelled out loud, almost falling again as he hit a chair with his foot when taking a step forward. "Whoa, that wuz close. I fell earlier, you know..." He said to the person that was standing closest to him. "I didn't knows Gryffindorks partied." He continued.
"James Potter." Adrian read the banner out loud. "Icanfixthat." He told them, flicking his wand at the banner so that it caught on fire. "Now iz a real party." He laughed. "Where is Potter boy anyway?" Adrian looked around before his eyes landed on Peter Pettigrew. A smirk spread across the Slytherin's face as he walked towards him, wand pointing at the boy. "Wouldn't it be fun if I did the same to your hair as I just did to that banner?" He tilted his head slightly. It had been a while since he had been this drunk and he was feeling dizzy.

Peter shrugged at Sirius, actually this party seemed better to him but that was only because he was actually socialising with someone he liked, at the other party he'd got there late and spent the night sat on the sofa before heading off to bed. He hadn't spotted anyone he wanted to talk to that was available, not even Remus, apparently he'd been too busy with that Annelise girl and really, Peter didn't like that at all, friends should always make time for one another, shouldn't they? That was why Peter didn't like Remus too much, he didn't act like a proper friend in Peter's opinion, he was more of a Professor and Prefect than a friend.
Luckily for Peter, Sirius could be a lot nicer than people realised, he never put Peter down and knew that sometimes yeah, he was a bit slow and yeah, did always need constant validation, but he was still his friend and the three of them, James, Sirius and Peter, all worked well together, Remus was a bit of a hitch but at least Peter had learned how to become an animagi which was really cool so he didn't mind too much.
Peter looked about the room, there were a lot of pretty girls there and Peter liked all of them really, they all looked real pretty to him, especially all dressed up for James' party, he actually felt quite underdressed compared to the girls, but he supposed they were girls and therefore liked to dress up and put on make-up and such, he didn't know what the big deal was really, even in tracksuit pants, old t-shirts and without any make-up they'd all look really pretty to him but maybe they didn't to other guys and that was why they dressed up, Peter didn't really understand girls, they were too different.
"I think they all look really pretty but -" Peter froze, Adrian Nott, Slytherin seventh year stumbled in and then set James' birthday banner on fire and then, to make things worse he started walking over toward him. Peter knew he could probably just give Adrian a slight push and he'd fall down hard looking at the state of him, he was really drunk, but Peter was too scared to do that, but he wasn't too scared to speak up, after all, he had Sirius next to him that would protect him, right? Sirius was good with a wand and Peter wouldn't have to really do anything.
"Get lost Nott." He said, just about stopping his voice from shaking. "No one wants you here and I don't want my hair on fire." Peter tried to sound firm but didn't reach for his wand and wasn't going to speak anymore. He gulped back the pool of saliva that had gathered in his mouth and worried that Adrian would try and pick on him regardless of all the people around. Peter however had faith in Sirius and the scene Adrian had caused meant that James would certainly have noticed too, and Remus who had turned up at some point, though Peter had only just noticed him with James and the girls, surely his friends wouldn't let Adrian get away with this.
