Merlin she was starving! She'd missed tea last night because she'd been out practicing for Quidditch, breakfast this morning because she'd over slept and lunch this afternoon because she'd been in detention. Dorcas had never felt so hungry in her entire life! It was as though her stomach had got hold of a knife some how and was going suicidal. Her stomach literally felt as though it were stabbing itself. If she'd had a drink, she'd probably not have felt so terrible, but no water and no food for round abouts twenty-nine hours or so, was not a good thing.
Walking quite quickly from her detention, Dorcas knew she was going to be early for tea tonight, but she didn't care, she was bloody starving and besides, it would mean she got pick of whatever she wanted pretty much from whatever table. She just hoped Adrian wouldn't be around to see her, she wasn't exactly going to be lady like, in fact, this was probably going to be the most unlady like she would ever be in her life. Then again, that wasn't really saying a lot considering this was Dorcas Meadowes and she wasn't one for all the hoity toity, girly girl sorts of things, she was more of a tom boy, though she did enjoy a good ol' girly chat, and dressing up, and flirting with the guys. Okay, so she wasn't a complete tom boy, but she wasn't a girly girl all the time. She was a tom girl. Yeah.
Walking carefully down the stairs from the first floor to the ground, Dorcas felt her head go a little bit spinny. Wow, that wasn't good, but her head and her eyes had been playing tricks on her all day. She'd thought she'd seen Adrian making out with some brunette from the classroom window where she'd had her detention, but then she'd blinked, rubbed her eyes and realised she'd been staring at a bare naked tree with long, loose branches that just swayed in the wind. Yeah, totally not Adrian. Not that it would matter if it was. It wasn't like they were a couple or anything, wasn't like they were into one another or something. Heh. Yeah right. She totally liked him, even though she knew she shouldn't. He was so not good for and like wise, she probably wasn't any good for him, but she would probably be the one that ended up getting crushed and she wanted to avoid it.
Heading into the great hall, having made it successfully down the stairs, Dorcas sat at the first table she came to and started putting mashed potato on the plate, just slopping it on followed by sausages and a big helping of gravy to cover it all. She grabbed the fork on her left and stabbed it into a sausage while her right hand grabbed the spoon and dug up some of the mashed potato and there she sat, taking bit after bite of the sausage and mash, smothered in gravy until she paused to wipe her mouth of and gulped back an entire jug of water. She had been thirsty and hungry, but now, she just sort of felt sick. Still, it was better than starving she figured, but setting the jug down and wiping her mouth, Dorcas sighed. She would bet she was quite the sight and probably would be quite the talk for the rest of the evening, but she didn't care. She'd been starving and probably dehydrated. That was the last time she missed a meal.

Word count: 413 Wearing: just his uniform, carrying a leather bag, some parchment, and one or two books. Comments: Well, that was sure an impression you made there P: And sorry for the shortness, meh >.< Well, so far for Waldemar's first day. Or, well, I should say George, as he had introduced himself by that name all day. His English was fairly good, though the unfamiliar syllables still felt strange on his tongue and he often caught himself still thinking in Finnish - that was something he was going to have to change if he wanted things to work out properly now that he lived in the UK. The day had been tiring, but pleasant overall. Waldemar had found that, although he was behind on his work, he still understood everything fairly well. The only thing what really slowed him down was, as said before, the language, but to Waldemar, that was only more of a challenge. The only thing he really regretted was the fact he'd hardly spoken to any classmates yet. They'd seen him and knew he was new, but most held back in immediately introducing themselves or sitting next to him. Waldemar wasn't sure what the cause was, but guessed it would wear off in a few days (he hoped so) and then he could start blending in. Besides, it wasn't convenient to dive into the web of social obligations just yet - or so he told himself - because he first needed to catch up with the homework he'd missed. He'd visited every teacher today to pick up the extra work and had decided it was best to start right away, so here he was, for an early supper, so he could head into the library as soon as possible - best to get all that work over with. Hardly a minute after he'd sat down and had tried the mashed potato with relief (it didn't taste as bad as it looked), when a girl about his age sat down opposite of him and started eating in a way that ruined his appetite completely. At first, he couldn't do anything but stare, though then he forced himself to look at his plate and continue eating, meanwhile browsing through a pile of parchment, trying to decide which assignment to do first. Chronologically was perhaps the safest way to go. The girl opposite him was done and he looked up again, raising his eyebrow slightly and glancing at her robes. Oh, she wasn't in his house. But why was she sitting here, then? He'd been told the houses all had their own table. Oh well, as long as she didn't get any gravy on his homework..

Dorcas sighed again, closing her eyes. Merlin that had tasted good. She wasn't quite entirely sure what 'that' was, but whatever it was, it was good. It had done its job and it had filled her tummy, though of course, she'd always have room for desert, something she'd learnt to do as a child growing up. You always saved room for desert and Dorcas could scoff down a tub of ice cream at a time. She didn't hold back, she had as much of a sweet tooth as the next girl, only this one liked to work it all off with a warm up and a jog, just before Quidditch practice. Nothing beat some good exercise after you knew you'd eaten your body weight in - Dorcas looked at the remains on her plate, mash, gravy and she figured sausage too. She sucked in her cheeks, tasting what she had just eaten still, yeah, definitely pork sausages. The best kind there was. Still, she wasn't feeling the greatest, but she'd wait a while, she still had to fit all her desert in as well, whatever dessert was tonight. Still, she was sure it would be delicious.
Looking up the table, Dorcas noticed a boy not too far from her, in fact, he was practically opposite her. How had she not scared the living day lights out of him? And how was he still eating after seeing her scoff down all that food? Not to mention was he doing homework at the dinner table? Yeah! It looked like it! Well, that was a full gone conclusion then that this was the ravenclaw table, because the boy didn't have a look of panic upon his face like the other houses would have if they were doing their homework at the table, if any other house were doing their homework and having tea, or even just looking through it, then it would mean their homework was probably late, hence the worry, but this guy seemed totally relaxed and calm and probably avoiding her gaze but after seeing what she could do with a fork and a plate of food, not to mention the jug of water she'd drained skilfully, she didn't blame him. Women were a scary breed and obviously not to be messed with, still, she hadn't scared the boy much, he was still sat there with his parchment and food.
"Hey." She said with a smile before quickly grabbing a napkin and wiping her mouth, face and fingers. She probably had food in her hair and her teeth and looked a state. "You're that new kid, aren't you?" She said, having noticed him in one of her lessons, but she'd not spoken to him, why would she? She'd probably end up scaring him away. though she had to admit, he looked simply adorable! "I'm Meadowes, Dorcas Meadowes, I'm in Slytherin but, y'know, I was a little starved and thirsty so threw myself at the first table I came to. Sorry if I disturbed you a bit, I see you've got your homework. I hope I didn't get it messy. Dorcas tended to have a little problem of talking a tad too much when she met knew people. She wasn't sure if it was nerves or over confidence, but whatever it was, even she tended to find it a bit annoying, but questions had to be asked she supposed, other wise you'd never find out anything.

Word count: 502 Comments: Not wearing robes? Nekkid then? & Waldemar likes her :33 Although he was leafing through his parchments, Waldemar looked as Dorcas sighed in relief and leaned back. He almost chuckled - she really must've been terrible hungry, poor thing. Averting his eyes once more, he went back to his homework, sorting it out before planning to go to the library. Actually, he really didn't want to go. He longed for some company, to be honest. Not that he had had that so much when he still lived at home, but at least then and there, there'd been always someone available to talk to him. And even if there hadn't been, there had always been outside. Waldemar couldn't go outside with a clear conscious now, really. What he didn't notice, was that the girl whose name he did not know looked at him. He was still too busy going through his papers and spooning small mouthfulls of mashed potatoes into his mouth. He would absolutely agree that women were scary, though - way too scary for his tastes. But (luckily..) he couldn't read minds. Either way, he was still caught up with the things he was doing and least of all expected anyone to speak to him, so he looked up only a little started when Dorcas addressed him. "Hey." Well, actually, at first he didn't look up at all, assuming she was talking to someone else, really. "You're that new kid, aren't you?" This did make him look up. Waldemar looked around briefly, established there was no one near, and then nodded and cleared his throat, putting his spoon down and extending his hand towards her over the table. "I am. George Järvinen, pleased to meet you." Again, this was where his manners kicked in and he sounded like a terribly pureblooded snob. I fear it'll take a while before Waldemar learns to drop his manners. Now that he got a good look at her, he supposed he'd seen her in one of the classrooms. Looking at her again, he guessed most normal guys would probably have noticed her, but he hadn't. All the evidence was going against him (yes, Waldemar was desperately trying to find evidence that proved that he was not gay, but so far, he wasn't doing so well). "I'm Meadowes, Dorcas Meadowes, I'm in Slytherin but, y'know, I was a little starved and thirsty so threw myself at the first table I came to. Sorry if I disturbed you a bit, I see you've got your homework. I hope I didn't get it messy." Waldemar chuckled softly. "It was.. an interesting scene to watch. Made my day very eventful, suddenly." And that was true - little to nothing had happened so far and no one had spoken to him at all. "If it's not rude to ask, but how come you were so hungry? It looked like you hadn't eaten in a week," he asked, eyes twinkling in amusement. Waldemar wasn't sure how he knew, only that he knew she was an easy, pleasant person to be around.

Dorcas looked interestedly at the new student. He looked tiny and adorable to her, he was probably taller, but he just seemed so skinny in her eyes. She wanted to just feed him, then again, the way she fed herself was pretty shocking, she doubted anyone would want her feeding them, she wasn't fit to feed a baby, or a baby animal. Pigs had better manners than her, and that was something quite shocking, she thought, then again, she had been a little hungry and thirsty. She should cut herself some slack, then again, she'd probably just given a foreign student the worst welcoming to Great Britain there could ever be. He'd probably assume everyone here was like her and head back home. Well . . . . maybe nothing quite that severe. She'd never made that big of an impression on someone before and she doubted she ver would.
"Oh!" Dorcas grabbed a serviette and quickly wiped her hands, just to check they were gravy, mash and sausage free before reaching over and shaking his hand lightly. She wasn't one for having her hand kissed and all that nonsense, not that it looked like George was going to do that , but unless it was a seriously hot guy at a formal event, then there weren't any allowances made. Still, she may make a few, just for the future, who knew what might happen in good time.
"Ha, not quite a week, hadn't eaten since yesterday lunchtime and I do like my food so I was a bit hungry. Not a great first impression I don't think." Never mind though, Dorcas thought, she was probably making up for it now, he was a new student and she was being nice and friendly. there was nothing worse than coming to a new school and meeting a wall of hostility. Huh, well, actually, there probably loads of things worse than that, but probably didn't feel like it if you were in the position of the newcomer.
"So where about are you from, George?" Dorcas was sort of making polite conversation, but more than anything, she was being nosey. "You have a strong accent, I hope you don't mind me asking, I'm just curious, or nosey, whatever you want to call it." Dorcas smiled and thought about dessert. She was bloated, but she still fancied something sweet. Probably some ice cream. Just a little bit of vanilla would do her very nicely, she thought, though before she could get the dreamy, far away look in her eyes, she focused on George and hoped her didn't think her rude, though after watching her scoff down her food like that, she wouldn't be surprised if he did think she was rude and uncivilised. Still, she was pretty at least!

Sorry for the wait! "Oh!" Waldemar couldn't help but chuckle softly as she wiped her hands before shaking his. "Pleasure, I'm sure," he added, eyes twinkling in amusement. Although he had been a bit.. overwhelmed by the girl at first, Waldemar's intuition-sort-of-thingy seemed to have decided she was nice and had decided to like her. He raised his eyebrows as she told him for how long she hadn't eaten. "Not a great first impression I don't think." Waldemar couldn't help but chuckle again. "But a lasting one, I can assure you that." She was making up for the overwhelming bit. Dorcas was the first one to really talk to him today - as in: really talk. Not as in 'can you pass me this-or-that please?'. "So where about are you from, George?" "Finland," he replied with a slight smile after swallowing his last spoonful of mashed potatoes and he pushed his plate out of the way. He was used to answered the question, he had been asked where he was from at least a dozen times today. "You have a strong accent, I hope you don't mind me asking, I'm just curious, or nosey, whatever you want to call it." Although he blushed, Waldemar also smiled slightly. "Yes, I know, it's terrible. I only had a few weeks to actually practise. Writing is fine, but I butcher the language by speaking it," he answered, apologetic. Waldemar also liked icecream.. and he wanted some. With chocolate sauce. Because he's secretly a woman, sort of.

George seemed to enjoy the fact that she was a mess and really quite rude. She had to admit, if she was where he was, and she'd come in like that, she'd probably be quite disgusted, but then again she would make it up to herself by being nice. Wait, that confused her a bit. Hmm, whatever! She was just babbling to herself in her head, smiling sort of emptily as she did so, probably making her look like a complete idiot, but regardless, she was glad George was able to find some amusement in the messy situation.
"Well, at least you'll remember me I suppose! Dunno if that's entirely a good thing or not. I promise I'm not too scary, other than what you've just witnessed. believe me, if you can stand the sight of that and not vomit, I'm pretty sure you can handle me." Dorcas couldn't help but continue to talk. She was excited to meet someone new that wasn't a complete idiot. George seemed really quite nice and accepting, especially considering what it was he was just faced with, Dorcas was surprised he hadn't run and hidden for cover yet.
"Finland?! Is it nice there? Seems like it would be a bit cold to me, then again, we are in Scotland or something at the moment, so probably not much colder than here. Sorry!" Dorcas winced, "I'm babbling a lot and not letting you get a word in anywhere. I'll shut up for a bit and let you answer by yourself, I'm sure you don't need my help to tell me what your country's like"
Dorcas couldn't help it, she was just one of those people t hat always liked to talk, she really had to give George a chance, especially considering he hadn't had long to practice, according to what he'd said that was. "I think you're doing just fine, then again, I'm not exactly letting you talk much, a I? I have a habit of getting excited and talking. I'll stop again now, you know, in case you ever do actually want to talk again, you're doing pretty good at it and really, you don't butcher the English language by speaking it, those from Northern England do that far better than you." She grinned, pretty sure he had to be the most uncomfortable guy in the school right now, sat here with some crazy girl jabbering at him about nothing much apart from what he probably all ready knew and things that he didn't need to know. Regardless, Dorcas liked to try and make new friends.

Word count: only 302, sorry - having a bad day ._. xP Comments: Nawww, Waldie wants a friend. And a lover.. And sorry if the English doesn't seem impairedish - I suck at accents etc. and am too much of a horrible perfectionist to deliberately muck up my English xP xD Waldemar was so used to people with infallible table manners, it was refreshing to meet someone who hadn't. He wasn't too fond of the whole pureblood culture and everything that went with it, he was more of a natural person, even though he might not look it. "Well, at least you'll remember me I suppose! Dunno if that's entirely a good thing or not. I promise I'm not too scary, other than what you've just witnessed. believe me, if you can stand the sight of that and not vomit, I'm pretty sure you can handle me." He laughed softly. "You should meet my brother. He is scary, I don't think I've seen the real him since he turned eleven." He smiled as she asked about Finland. "It's wonderful. I'd love to go back there, but I lack funds and, well, more importantly - friends." Waldemar shrugged a little. "It's colder than here, we lived rather up north. In summer, the sun barely sets." "I'm babbling a lot and not letting you get a word in anywhere. I'll shut up for a bit and let you answer by yourself, I'm sure you don't need my help to tell me what your country's like." Waldemar laughed, actually laughed out loud this time. "I'm just glad someone's talking to me altogether." Maybe it was his womanish intuition, but he was opening up rapidly to Dorcas, not just because he was desperate for a friend, but because he liked her. If only she hadn't been a girl...Waldemar, smiled and didn't blush at her compliment concerning his English. He had stopped blushing at compliments a long time ago, he accepted them gracefully, like his parents expected him to, and thanked the other person for them. "Thanks, but I think there's still a lot to be improved."

Dorcas quirked her brow at mention of George's brother. Huh. He was probably cute too. Dorcas wondered if he was cuter than George, she hoped so, George looked a little too feminine for her tastes. She liked her guys to like like . . .well, guys for one. She liked masculinity, after all, she didn't want to be in any sort of relationship or fling with someone that was far more feminine than her. That just wouldn't work for her. She would be turned off in a heart beat. Strong, sexy guys were more here thing, guys like Adrian. Hmm. Adrian. Now there was a guy that would crack it if someone called him feminine . . . something she might have to try, just to gage his reaction.
"Does your brother go to school or has he finished?" She asked casually. She was hoping George's brother was older and had finished school, that would give her someone to look forward to meeting in the real world when school had finished up. That was if George's brother even lived in England. George was from Finland and she assumed the rest of his family was too, so she presumed there was a good chance that George's brother was still living over there. Maybe one day she'd take a trip over there. She'd quite like it, she enjoyed the cold. She also enjoyed the hot though, that didn't mean she was about to shoot off to Australia!
"Lack of funds? See, this is where apparating and broomsticks come in handy. Don't need much funding for that, though you'd probably have to turn yourself invisible if you're flying across on a broom, wouldn't want too many muggles seeing you and having a heart attack. Merlin knows what the Ministry of Magic would do to you. Probably wouldn't be anything to friendly, I', sure." Dorcas sighed and looked about the table for some ice cream. Sure, it was winter, but she liked ice cream and it would follow her main meal quite nicely. Then again, ice cream followed pretty much anything quite nicely.
Grabbing a bowl and a very large spoonful of ice cream, Dorcas soon started slowly sucking on the ice cream that was now in front of her, pulling her spoon away from her mouth for a second to speak to George once more. "I'll talk to pretty much anyone that's not an idiot. You know . . . idiot as in arrogant dick head, not idiot as in stupid." Well okay, that wasn't strictly true, she was busy lusting after Adrian after all, and he was as big of an idiot as you could possibly find. How had he not picked up her very confusing but all be it lustful signals? Some guys really were just idiots.
"At least you can speak a second language, and well enough for others to understand it. I can say 'hund' 'gut-ten tag' and 'hallo' in German and that's it. I don't know what they mean apart from 'hallo' which is like, halo. I think 'gut-ten tag' is 'good dog' and 'hund' 'hand'." Dorcas had no idea that she was completely wrong on all three counts of meaning and even pronunciation, but regardless, she liked to think she could speak a little of different language, even if it was only German and nothing exotic like Russian, Portuguese, Spanish or Mexican. And no, she didn't realise that Mexican's spoke Spanish. She did believe it an entirely different language all together.
"So how did you get the name George? It sounds very English for someone from Finland, and how do you pronounce your surname? Do you have lots of English names over there?" Dorcas was really quite ignorant of other countries and cultures, she was very sheltered when it came to other countries but the good thing about her, was that she was always willing to learn new things about these other places and maybe, she figured George might be able to teach her a thing or two.

Word count: 755 Waldemar missed Dorcas' eyebrow movement when he mentioned his brother. She was right in assuming that Aleksi was more masculine than George was (as he had been more into sports), but also more.. formal and influenced by the pureblood attitude of his parents. Had Aleksi seen Dorcas eat in the manner Waldemar had just witnessed, he would not have looked at her twice. "Does your brother go to school or has he finished?" Waldemar grinned a little. "Aleksi is very much done with school, yes. He's working on taking over my parents' company and being a terrible bore." He usually didn't speak negatively about his brother in public, but then again.. most of the times he'd been in public up until now had also been in the presence of Aleksi. He didn't expect anyone here to know him, nor meet him ever, so it wasn't so bad now, was it? "Lack of funds? See, this is where apparating and broomsticks come in handy. Don't need much funding for that, though you'd probably have to turn yourself invisible if you're flying across on a broom, wouldn't want too many muggles seeing you and having a heart attack. Merlin knows what the Ministry of Magic would do to you. Probably wouldn't be anything to friendly, I'm sure."Waldemar chuckled slightly. "It's not so much the journey, though I'd rather not fly - I'm not a very good flyer, I should practise more - especially not over the ocean. It's more the funds for staying there. I expect.." he paused shortly. "I expect our mansion to be sold and there's no decent family I can stay with." No decent family indeed. He still had some family in Finland, but they were closely associated with the Dark Arts, so even if Waldemar could go back to his home country, he wouldn't even want to stay with them. He didn't like the idea of their home being someone else's now. He'd really have to ask his parents, maybe they'd kept it.. or maybe it wasn't sold yet. Waldemar didn't want it to be sold, maybe he could ask his parents to keep it for him, for when times got better.. His eyes lit up when Dorcas helped herself to some ice cream, also grabbing a boy bowl and a spoon. Waldemar liked ice cream. Hadn't I told you? Well - he does. "I'll talk to pretty much anyone that's not an idiot. You know . . . idiot as in arrogant dick head, not idiot as in stupid." Waldemar chuckled softly, spoon still in his mouth as the sweet ice melted against his palate. "Thanks for the compliment, I guess." "At least you can speak a second language, and well enough for others to understand it. I can say 'hund' 'gut-ten tag' and 'hallo' in German and that's it. I don't know what they mean apart from 'hallo' which is like, halo. I think 'gut-ten tag' is 'good dog' and 'hund' 'hand'." Waldemar was not about to correct her and just laughed a little. "Well, you already speak English. English is just.. the language. If you want to communicate with people around the world, English is an absolute necessity - you need no other language." Gesticulating with his spoon, he added. "Have you ever met a Finn before? I mean.. no one speaks Finnish." Shrugging, he scooped up another spoonful of ice cream and hummed lowly as he enjoyed the taste dissolve on his tongue. "So how did you get the name George? It sounds very English for someone from Finland, and how do you pronounce your surname? Do you have lots of English names over there?" Waldemar half smiled. "Well, you're the first one I'm telling, but.. my name's not actually George. We just thought it would be easier for me to fit in if I adopted an English name." As long as Dorcas didn't ask him about his real name (Waldemar had a feeling she would ask, taking the rest of their conversation into account), he would not tell her. He wasn't sure how she would react. Not that he thought she would laugh at him, but hadn't his parents told him to adopt an English name for a reason?

Dorcas kept wondering what this Aleksi looked like. She wouldn't talk about him further with George because he didn't seem to like his brother much, or at least thought him a 'bore' but still, Dorcas was certain she'd be able to help the party animal in him come out . . . just a few shots here and there, a couple beers and away he'd go being the life of the party. Dorcas had no idea what he looked like but she was imagining him as a bigger, stronger, more masculine version of George and in her imagination, he had a lot of muscles . . . oh yeah, he was on the bar of the Three Broomsticks, flexing his muscles and showing her what he was made of.
Okay, so Aleksi was probably a little bit weedy like George here, but Dorcas could use her imagination a little. It was still a free country after all, at least for the time being, though the Death Eaters weren't in charge yet, and they probably wouldn't be. Dumbledore was still around and had a lot of life kicking in him. They'd never take control of the country while he was around. They were all far too scared of him, despite the show they put on and the talk they spoke in the Daily Prophet. They may have a lot of pull over the editor there, and would probably kill the editor and his family, but Dorcas figured they were all talk when it came to facing Dumbledore.
"Ha, you're welcome I suppose!" Dorcas grinned at George and nodded her head a little and shrugged her shoulders. "I suppose that's true to some extent, but it would still be cool to be able to speak another language, you know, not be completely ignorant and everything. Just assuming everyone speaks English is a bit rude if travelling over seas. Unless you're going somewhere like America or Australia I suppose. Then I think that English is the primary language. Or maybe Mexican in America, the countries are pretty close and America does have its own Mexico too, New Mexico." Not only did Dorcas not have a clue about other languages, she also had no clue about other countries geography. Actually, she didn't have much of a clue about Geography in general.
"No, I've not met anyone from any other country really. A few Italians, a couple Spanish and a lot of French, like, five people from France." She chuckled sarcastically knowing five really wasn't a big number. She wasn't a complete idiot after all. "You'll have to introduce me to some of your friends if they ever come over, and your family. Then I can say I know plenty of Finnish people if anyone ever asks me again." Dorcas smiled widely and ate some more of her ice cream, expressing a bit of surprise on her face when George told her that 'George' wasn't his actual name.
"What is your name then? I can't go calling you George if it's not your real name. That's like me being called Helga or something. It's stupid." Dorcas sat there, eating her ice cream and looking across at 'George', trying to figure out if that was his real name, and was his brother really called 'Aleksi' or was that a made up name too so that he could fit in. Though George was far more English than Aleksi, Aleksi sounded Russian or something. Maybe it was a Finnish name, she didn't know but she was definitely interested to find out. 'George' Was turning out to be quite an interesting character and she liked him quite a bit. He seemed like he could be quite a good friend.

Word count: 469 It wasn't that Waldemar didn't like his brother. Aleksi was his brother, after all, and he had no reasons to hate him, but he would've liked.. a different brother. One that was less so a clone of society, or at least not all the time. Or maybe Mexican in America, the countries are pretty close and America does have its own Mexico too, New Mexico." Waldemar chuckled a little, but said: "I had never left my country before several months ago. I don't see why one would want to - Finland is more than enough for me." Though he tried to keep it out of his tone, he did sound a little homesick. He still was, though at least he wasn't forced to live in a city - that would've been murder for Waldemar. He would've travelled back to Finland regardless of and not caring about the consequences if his parents had moved to London. "No, I've not met anyone from any other country really. A few Italians, a couple Spanish and a lot of French, like, five people from France. You'll have to introduce me to some of your friends if they ever come over, and your family. Then I can say I know plenty of Finnish people if anyone ever asks me again." Waldemar stirred through his ice a little and grinned. "I'll introduce you to them when we graduate and then you can brag all you want." Secretly, Waldemar looked forward to graduating, hoping he might be able to go back 'home' once he was independent and free. Aleksi would be the heir, anyway. He had expected Dorcas to ask about his real name, so it was no surprise. "I can't go calling you George if it's not your real name. That's like me being called Helga or something. It's stupid." Waldemar shrugged a tad, swallowing a spoonful of vanilla goodness. "My name is rather decidedly Finnish, we thought people would have trouble pronouncing," he stated, slowly and scooping up some more ice, creating suspense. Not so much because he didn't want Dorcas to know (he didn't care very much, really), but because he wondered how the suspense would affect her. She seemed rather eager to know. Grinning slightly, he eventually said: "It's Waldemar. Waldemar Yrjö Järvinen."

Dorcas found it amazing that George had never before left his country. She'd gone abroad every summer since she was three, well, apart from that one time her mother wasn't feeling too well, but they still went on Holiday, just down to Cornwall to enjoy the country side down there. To Dorcas it looked the exact same as it did in their home county of Devon, but whatever, it was nice to get away from home for a while and just relax. Still, never having left your own country, well, it sounded boring to Dorcas, but each to their own she supposed.
"Ah, I love to travel, so much to see and do, I find it nice to go to the sun for a bit. It's refreshing, a bit of a break from all the bad weather and snow we get up here. Of course, if you love the snow, then I suppose Finland's just right, isn't it?" Dorcas smiled and carried on eating her delicious ice cream, happy to be having a conversation with a cute-ish guy that wasn't spending the time checking her out or staring at her breasts. maybe he was gay, or maybe she just repulsed him after the display she'd put on, regardless, it was still nice to have someone look at her eyes when talking.
Dorcas grinned. Meeting new people was always something that interested her, especially ones from other countries, though she had to admit, George probably thought her completely weird, wanting to meet his friends and family, just so she could say she knew a few Finnish people, just in case she was ever asked if she did. Yeah, Dorcas had to admit it to herself, she was crazy, and not just a little, quite a lot, but still, she wasn't crazy enough to be classed as a danger, at least she didn't think so, but she was biased.
Dorcas listened, wondering what George's real name was, and when he said it, she just smiled and shrugged her shoulders. "That wasn't so hard now, was it?" She grinned. "Waldemar" She said, attempting to pronounce it the way he had. "I'm not even going to attempt your other names, mind, they sound a little difficult for me. You know, you could have just a nickname, like Wald or Wal. I personally would like Wally." She chuckled softly, wondering if Waldemar realised she was little bit crazy, oh well, whatever, Dorcas just smiled and had some of the delectable ice cream in front of her that was rapidly disappearing. If she didn't know any better, she might think someone was stealing it from her while she wasn't looking, but that wasn't possible probable.

Word count: 409 To Waldemar, it was in no way boring to stay home. Although he wasn't sheltered and liked a change of scenery, he was very attached to the idea of some sort of 'home', a base whereon he could fall back should need arise, his natural habitat, with all his things, where he felt safe. It wasn't that Waldemar wasn't adventurous, but he liked to be at least sure of a place to return to, afterward, with things and people he knew and felt safe with. "Ah, I love to travel, so much to see and do, I find it nice to go to the sun for a bit. It's refreshing, a bit of a break from all the bad weather and snow we get up here. Of course, if you love the snow, then I suppose Finland's just right, isn't it?" Waldemar laughed. "Quite, the tidbit of snow that falls here is less than the bare minimum compared to where I'm from." He smiled wider at the memory. "We'd get snowed in sometimes." As Dorcas noticed, it was, indeed, true that he was more focused on his ice cream than on what she looked like. Waldemar had forgotten to keep up the appearance of being straight simply because he'd been so happy someone had talked to him (and a nice person, at that). She even reacted to his real name in a normal fashion. Well, normal in a Dorcas-way. "Waldemar," she repeated after him and Wal smiled a little; it sounded as foreign on her tongue as English syllables did on his. "I'm not even going to attempt your other names, mind, they sound a little difficult for me. You know, you could have just a nickname, like Wald or Wal. I personally would like Wally." "Wally?" he echoed, half laughing. "Sounds like a stuffed animal, so I look like one?" Wal asked, prodding his tummy (which was, at the moment, delightfully filled with ice cream and rather full). He had realised she was a bit crazy, but had to admit he liked it. In his previous environment, no one had ever really surprised him, they all reacted the same, all talked the same, basically all thought the same and even if they didn't, they all argued in the same way. It was refreshing to meet someone different.

Dorcas finished up her ice cream and listened intently to what it was that Wally was saying about the snow. She'd love to go somewhere where there was so much snow. Sure, they had difficulties getting through the snow that fell on Hogwarts during the winter months sometimes, but to have it thicker and deeper . . . wait . . . was she still thinking about the snow? Hmm . . . Snow, she wanted to see more of it, she'd actually quite like to learn to ski. Well, she did now that she thought about it, the thought really hadn't ever crossed her mind that often before.
Wally didn't seem outraged at her giving him a nickname and that was good, she liked that. This Waldemar Yahuie Jarbusdbuin bleh person, was actually a really decent sort of chap and she hoped to hang out with him more as the school year went on, of course she knew he would go back to Finland one day, soon after school was finished, but she could always write him and he seemed the kind of guy that would always right back, no matter how little she had to say. In her opinion, Wally seemed like a great sort of friend to have, she just hoped she kept this opinion of him as the school year progresses and she gets to know him better.
"No! It doesn't sound like a stuffed animal! Though you do look a bit like one . . . a deformed one though because you're not all hairy like stuffed animals are. You're a monstrosity of a stuffed Animal. You're a Wally-Monster! Half man, half bear, half stuffed!" Dorcas chuckled, laughing at her over usage of the word 'half'. She did have two halves, but then she thought of another point, so why not make him three halves? Dorcas really did have a simple mind, even if some matters did seem over complexed, but Dorcas was happy in her own little world and that was all that mattered really.
"I think I'm going to head off soon. I need to get some homework done that's a little bit over due!" She cringed playfully and shrugged her shoulders. "Maybe we could meet up back here later, like tomorrow, and I could give you a tour of the school? If no one's given you one yet that is." Dorcas smiled in what she hoped was a friendly sort of way, she hated seeming too forward but it was sort of the only way she knew how to be, she wasn't one to hold back because simply, she couldn't. "Oh! And I can also give you the low down on all the Professors, like which ones are nice and which ones to steer clear of if you can, and the same with students, not all of them are as nice as me sadly."
